Would that have been O'Grady's? As far as I know, there was only 2 shops on North Street around that time, O'Donoghue's and O'Grady's. O' Donoghues could actually have been "Phillips" back then.
@hatchets07 Actually there were 4 shops. Westons on the corner of North St, and Seaiown Rd. and Heaveys across the road from that, Also a chemist where Q4U is now. What a deadly vid, brings back memories
Oh yeah, forgot about Weston's, never knew bout Heavey's. I believe that's still known today as weston's corner by the older generation. My earliest memories of North street would be the early nineties back in the days of "kiddie's corner" and savages bookies. good shout!
No it was actually about 1970 as I initially predicted. I found out the story about whats happening in this video. A spud truck crashed , spilling spuds so my Dad ran into the harp yelling "Free Spuds". And everyone ran out to grab the spuds. Wouldnt happen these days... different times I guess
Great video, my old man still calls that shop O' Donoghues even to this day (even though its now derelict) Anyone know where the old woman is pumping the water at 0:37?
@hatchets07 yard at the back of the shop you can see the side entrance in the vid or you can walk thought the castle grounds the pump is gone it got clogged up by rusty toy cars
This is absolutely brilliant.

That video's mad, a gem. My folks used to have a shop on North Street but it was circa '83-'91.
