30 Aug: Banana spider at shrine in Kin Town, Okinawa, Japan

I almost walked into one of these that was sitting at face height (6'). Someone grabbed me by my deuce gear and pointed out this awesome spider.

Oki was awesome! Soba noodles, snorkeling with the sea snakes.

I used to run that route when I was stationed there. I was on Camp Hansen for 4 years.

I was looking all over 4 the bananna spider I used to c when I was a kid. I saw this video and said to my self, that's the bananna spider I remember, my dad was stationed at kadena AFB from 87-90 in oki. I used to throw rocks at the there big webs in the boonies (jungle) in my back yard. They had all kinds of bugs there that u don't c in the states.

I was at Camp Schwab and the NTA in 1992-3. I remember taking sticks up to the bannana spiders and you could feel them biting the stick.

I had one of those as a pet eight years ago. It only lasted three days. =[

Brings back memories. Saw these things when I was on detachment over there in '88 and '89. I loved Okinawa, rode my bicycle all over the place.

We were in Okinawa for 2 yrs until this past Dec. We were there working in a contract position with the Navy. We miss Oki dearly already!!
