  • Late 1965, actually. And it didn't suffer from any lack of attention when it was released. The problem was that it was released in one of the most fertile and creative periods in music history, meaning that there was an abundance of great new releases, so that inevitably a lot of great records would get lost in the shuffle. But this one definitely got its share of attention.

  • This is a great song. Must not have been enough payola to get it higher on chart.

  • Thanks for posting,,,,One of my faves by Danny

  • Thanks, I used to listen to this over and over and over! Still love it!

  • I think I wore the 45 out on this one. Glad to see some fans for Danny's earlier yrs.

  • I remember in 65 buying this 45 and listening to it on our record player in the living room. Good tune! Thanks

  • moorlock there is a version of it on here!someone posted cuts from an album called PRE DOG NIGHT!

  • What about his hit on MGM, "Funny How Love Can Be", a cover of UK hit by The Ivy League

  • Thanks for posting! I wonder if whoever originally uploaded the TV performance of Danny singing "Roses and Rainbows" (might have been on Shindig or Shivaree) could post it again? It seems to have gone missing from YouTube. Peace.

  • yeah, jpinnacle. That was a great video of a great song. upload it again, somebody?

  • great song!!! i wish this song was available on iTunes. does anyone know where i could download this song?

  • ohai! xD msg me. id is on my profile. 1

  • A few months before this was released, there was another more sparse version by The Bats out (HBR 445) that even pre-dated "Roses & Rainbows" (HBR 447). It was basically just Danny Hutton recording under an alias and is also currently up on YouTube, along with it's B-side "Nothing At All." Interestingly, this version of "Big Bright Eyes" has the same song on the flip as Roses & Rainbows ("Monster Shindig"). Shortly after it came out, He released a couple of singles on MGM that also didn't chart.
