  • It sounds like a bunch of fucking chickens to me.

  • What does Utrenja Ewangelia mean?

  • Brutal, malditamente brutal

  • Muy buena descripcion, muy completa

  • sounds like a cult having a meeting

  • this used to be my ringtone for texts. now it's the "doink doink" from law & order

  • If Christopher Nolan ever wanted to do Mr. Freeze for one of his bat-movie, this would HAVE to be included in the score.

    Blood INSTANTLY chilled! O_O

  • The infamous dog scene.

    I'll use this to pray...

  • Penderecki is AMAZING!!!!!!

  • All I have to say is that the Shinning wouldn't be half as good if it didn't have Penderecki's music in it. Srsly, when this songs kicks in during the part when poor Wendy is seeing all the freaky shit, it just adds so much to the scene.

  • AHHH THE FUCKING DOG! FUCK YOU BASTARD.

  • holy shit, this sounds like the Damned are speaking through my speakers! I have chills listening to this. Oh the power of music!

  • This is so much better than the version released by Naxos which sounds syphilitic by comparison.

  • Holy shit this is as creepy as hell!

  • This is suposed t be a religious piece. Begging the question, where'd THIS guy go to church????

  • @jonathanmelia in southern Poland.

  • Nice party, isn't it?

  • It's great, but how could anybody create such evil, satanic sounding music, what with the frightening chanting and singing going on? I mean I've seen the Shining quite a few times, but what the fuck? I mean the song sounds like some demonic black mass where they mutilate people. Krzysztof must've been crazy, and I'm a little nuts myself but even this music scares me!

  • Frankly, I find Penderecki no weirder than his follower Zappa. Actually, I find neither very weird. Well, there is nothing strange in wanting more in life than french fries and a hamburger.

  • @LMB222 I wish the rest of the population would think the same...

  • DANNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This would be a sick ringtone. THE SHINING rules ! ! !

  • Damn good idea!!! I may do that now.

  • @CASAHOFBRAU Heck, yeah! :D

  • @CASAHOFBRAU ha ha it is my ringtone

  • Kubrick was a genius and it extended beyond his work behind the camera. His use of music to highlight and/or underscore his films was brilliant. In A Clockwork Orange it was Beethoven's 9th and Ligeti's Lux Aeterna and Strausss Also Sprach Zarathustra in 2001: A Space Odyssey; however, nowhere is music used more efficiently than in The Shining, with Ligeti, Penderecki, Bartok and Carlos/Elkind adding immeasurable amounts of terror and tension.

  • @wolfgang731 I believe Carlos and Elkind were rejected in favour of classical music when it came to the Shining.

  • @TheR3volutionary Actually, Kubrick was originally planning on using a complete score by Carlos/Elkind; however, he later changed his mind and used both the aformentioned composers along wtih Ligeti, Penderecki and Bartok. "Rocky Mountains" and "Psychic Shout #237" are two examples of Carlos/Elkind's work that was included in the film.

  • @wolfgang731 Carlos did a great job in A Clockwork Orange.

  • @TheR3volutionary Amen! ^_^

  • This song always gives me the chills whenever it's played in the shining. Probably my second favorite movie of all freaking time.

  • what is the songs title in english, if it has one?

  • Song? You mean 'piece' I guess =)

  • Hello, i want to listen that but i think this video have a sound problems, i try in others computer and is always the same thing.....you listen well this?

  • CHIIIIIIIIIIIILS

  • that was in the shining a lot

  • my fcking god..!!

i had to look this up for Music homework

    and i was like, SHIT!!!

    lol FREAKY!

  • awsome

  • I hope you suffer the most painful death, and I hope your after-life is filled with Merzbow albums.

  • zakroy rot sabaka seraya ot tvoevo rta vonayet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • your ignorant and need to open your mind more to other forms of music. This is Avante- garde and actually is written quite well. you couldn't write this.

  • This is a WAY alot scarier then the x files theme.

  • @DjMontana42X the x files theme is funny

  • i get a goosebumps as soon as i heard this music. Shinning!

  • u know it's about Christ resurrection :-)

  • Excelente Penderecki..genial.

  • I wonder what Stephen King thought of this music. i know he didn't care much for Kubrick's version overall, but what of the music. You think it would've even fit the noval version? I think i'd fir perfectly. In fact they should use the music as background noise for those audio books og "The Shining". That'd be awsome, Imagine that!

  • REDRUM

  • Fabuloso - excelente

  • oh my God...

  • I'll be honest; I really love avant-garde music (especially the early Penderecki), but I relish even more whenever any musically conservative person cringes listening to it.

I would love to tie a particular musically conservative "friend" of mine (or rather my adversary) to a chair and have that person listen to a point that person finds this kind of music highly appreciative.

  • Or that person pisses his pants from pure terror XD

  • The Shining immidiatley popped into my head! It's so weird not hearing their voices, it's like listening to karaoke!

  • oooft god that scared the crap out of me because it was silent then all of a sudden BOOM lol :P

i love the shining and all the pieces are really freaky and enchanting ...

    -_- :D

  • One of the greatest composers of the XXth century...

  • Very nice. Thanks

  • RedruM

  • jjajajajajaa great!

  • PERFECTLY fits "The Shining". Makes it much more scarier than it already is...and it's scary!

  • It sounds like God's nightmare of Hell.

  • thanks!!!!!!!

  • perfect. so disturbing!

  • One of the greatest songs in "The Shining"...& the scariest. One you don't wanna listen to with the lights off... XD But brilliant, all the same; kudos to the great Penderecki for composing this & all his other creations! ^_^

  • Could you please send this song to me? I would love to have it as a ringtone:O)

  • Terrifying, brilliant!

  • Brilliant composer who advanced music as much as anyone in the last 50 years.

  • vengelis, xenakis, ligeti?

  • The sounds may appear too avant-gardish but they're actually based on Eastern European tradition. For example the terrifying introductory percussion sounds (simantra) can still be heard in Mount Athos (Greek orthodox monastic community) during Easter service and of course in many other communities throughout Eastern Europe.

  • What the chorus is singing is Matthew 28,1-6. The verses are overlapping but after the first clapper sound verse 1 begins, after the second, verse 2, after the third, verse 4. Interesting how Kubrick chose those religious texts (probably accidentally) - in "2001" the black monolith is accompanied by the chorus singing "Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison" and the moonbus by "Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum".

  • I really don't think it's accidentall!!

  • great composer ... just perfect

  • Kubrick was a genius to pick this.

  • Sounds, well, like hell.

  • I'll enjoy my stay, in that case

  • Danny!

  • lol. great movie

  • No discuto, expreso.

  • yes!

  • maestro , excelente, magnifico
