@Rand0m247 "Elfenlied" is a poem written by Eduard Mörike and was set to music by Hugo Wolf. you can listen to it on youtube :) It's the song Nozomi tries to teach to Nyu (Manga Nr. 5). An english translation is found on wikipedia, just write it without the space between Elfen and Lied (Elfenlied) and you should find it :)

This is such a good song, and such a beautiful fucking anime... you really felt for the characters at the end. I was really sad when this was over, after laughing and crying with all of the characters. The end really got me, not only because it was sad. Not only because I knew it was over, but because I knew watching it the 2nd time would never be the same as the first.

This isn't a show, it's an experience.

I love the way the artist and creator of Elfin Lied portrayed the humans. Not only did she know that humans see themselves as powerful beings but also that they are cold, merciless beings. She expresses that humans can become monsters as a monster can show feelings of what it is to be human. In a way of that, she knows exactly of what humans can think inside their mind. They can be selfish and can only except what looks like them. Not anything else. It is quite a beautiful and honest story line.

there is an error... unfortunatly.. it is not "quoniqm" which has no meaning in latin. The prononciation is "quorum" or maybe "quoniam" not "quoniqm". Quoniam means because but here it would be strange in the use of this word but it definitively corresponds to the translation which is given here. So it is probably the best guess here. Quorum is meaningfull anyway. And the reason is "cum" just after. Quorumcum(que) means which ever and that has a meaning too.

When the music box breaks, it means Lucy was no more, and died with her final wish, to make Kouta remember. Her losing her horns was just another representation of the start of her new, human life. The clock chiming symbolizes Nyuu's new life starting, and the person at the gate is not Lucy, but Nyuu. Hope this helped ^-^

Elfen Lied, however, is a German poem from the 19th century, and was later adapted into a "Lied"(German and Dutch for "song"). The song Elfen Lied is about an elf waking up in the night, and has nothing to do with Lilium.
