this is low budget and these people know nothing of the firearms they were using. they said the m16 was a 223. Remington, and that a m60 was a 308. winchester. those are completely different cartridges than the 5.56 nato and the 7.62 nato.
I once saw a tv show that took the reporter to abandoned underground small arms caches left behind by the Americans...most were rusty etc, but so fucking cool to see. I wish it was here on youtube.
these guys arent hitting nothing but the sides of those cars...... and my father served in the 25th, he said they hardly ever fired their 16's on full auto. wasted too much ammo.
that's true, because back then the magazine is only 20 rounds and the just fill it up around 16-18 rounds to prevent wear on the magazine. even on the newer M16A2 it just have 3 round burst to save ammo
i was watching a thing about the m16 on modern marvels the other day and they also said how that if you were to shoot the a1's in auto to much the barrel would fuck up from heat from the ball powder they switched too.
thompsons,mat-49,m1 garands and carbines, browning belt fed ALOT of korean era weapons were used and supplied to both sides Basically supplied to South Vietnam and large amounts were used by the Cong From french ww2 rifles etc Both sides, the VC at the battle of AP BAC where they were still using RIFLED GRNADES!this all changed big time by 1965 etc.
i think they were working on it during the war but it came out and im not certain but i believe it came out in the 1980's, which was later made into the A3 in the late 90's for the Navy SEALS with full auto brought back from the A1 instead of the burst fire from the A2. Later they came out with the A4 for a replacement for the A2 which has burst but has an IRS system on the barrell and removable iron sights.
No it was during the vietnam war that the a1 was adopted, basically they added the forward assist. The A2 came in to play in the 1980's, which basically adopted the 3 round burst instead of full auto and adjustable rear sights. I believe they also added the heavier barrel with the a2 as well, not to sure about the barrel though
I don't know, but I can tell you that its defenitly not allowed. I personally would not do it, as the sounds from ak's/m16's are quite different, you may have your comrads in a different area coming down on you with friendly fire. There are reasons that the M16 and the 5.56 round are still utilized, too many to tell you here in a comment.
Yeah they did it in Nam a lot. A lot of mistaken identity and in turn friendly fire happened.
American small units using ak47's against the v.c were fired upon by nearby American troops. Because they thought they were v.c due to the ak pop pop pop sounds.
Same thing with when the Americans fired upon v.c and nva. The commies thought they were being shot by their own at first.
It's a pity they didn't cover the M3A1, or the Smith & Wesson M76, or the Carl Gustav M/45, or the dawn of the Remington 870, or the Winchester M12, or the Browning Hi-Power, or the Thompson M1A1, or the XM146 prototype grenade launcher, or the XM203 grenade launcher, or the M72 disposable rocket launcher, or the birth of the M4 Carbine, or the Heckler & Koch G3, or the Stoner 63, or the M2A1 Flamethrower, and so much more.
Ak47:s problem with the barrel rise while shooting full auto is not due to any long action or poor muzzle break. It is only due to the design "error" in the angle of rear stock related to the barrel!!!
They never mentioned the SKS. All over Nam and there are so many people here in the states that own them. I think they lost out on a large portion of their viewing audience. I guess since its such a inexpensive rifle they don't give it any respect. More accurate and more muzzle velocity than an AK and unless you are looking to waste ammo or spray a area close by I think the SKS is better suited to conflict from 80 to 300yds. Its a shame they missed out on that for us millions of SKS owners.
this reminds me of the Huntin' and Killin' show from South Park.

so do U.S soldiers today still discard their m16's for ak47's like in Nam???
Or has the A2 seriously improved the m16's effectiveness???
