  • This is what Charlotte, NC uses.

  • I LIKE TEXAS TRAFFIC BETTER AS ALL LIGHTS ARE HORIZONTALLY SET UP, I REALLY CONFUSE WITH STACKED LIGHTS WHEN I GO SOMEWHERE AS ITS NOT A BIG DEAL BUT ITS BECAUSE I AM USED TO WITH TEXAS LIGHTS!!

  • Thats why i love the UK the trafic lights go Red, Red and Amber, Green Then Amber, Red.

  • Canada doesn't have this (as far as I know in British Columbia), but it does make sense with the flashing yellow arrow letting the driver know to yield to oncoming traffic after getting a permissive left.

  • Blinking yellows always confuse me (Only because Ive only seen them twice.) I am much more comfortable with the "Yield on green" style that my city uses. But only because That's what I am used to.

  • My city is putting them up at only one intersection (as of right now) next monday they go on. I may get it on video. Central Florida is getting tons of thees in the next year

  • Now many of Michigan cities/towns are using this type of signal.

  • we have one. its in steilacoom. there are two gas stations right across from eachother, its the intersection over by the steilacoom library

  • doghouse or even vertical stack owns this type. much less confusing.

  • I guess MUTCD is tired of doghouse signals that this is the best they can come up with.

  • I always wanted to know what type of signal is this since I be seeing these around our town.

  • most controllers can change with the time they run a "plan" depending on the time.

  • Here in Portland the signal goes from solid yellow to red for about four or five seconds before it goes to flashing yellow. It gives oncoming traffic time to start moving.

  • @deloreanman14 what does it mean when it's flashing yellow like that?

  • @videodude4 - Yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians. It's the same as 'LEFT TURN YIELD ON GREEN'.

  • @deloreanman14 That's smart actually, I have seen nasty accidents here when it switches from Green arrow, to green yeild, the left turn cars still see green, and the others are not moving, thus near crashes occur.

  • That's a "yellow trap" signal. With the new "smart" controllers that switch around their cycles depending on time-of-day traffic flows, engineers decided that a flashing yellow arrow (rather than a green ball on a left turn signal) reminded motorists that there was oncoming opposing traffic when the green arrow wasn't lit. Nice video segment.
