  • @rkabilly73........Tape and cd was called Radio Gospel Favorites by the Statler Bros.

  • I really enjoyed this version. I''ve been a Statler Brothers fan since I was a kid. Does anyone know what album this is on?

  • My good deed today is telling people to watch the YouTube video "SBCHouston Blessed Blessing" and read the comments below the video that can be verified with church and public CDs, videos, documents, and books. Dr. (?) Ed Young (second.org) should be fired (retire).

  • EXCELLENT......SUPERB.......always ......Statler Brothers.

    GOD BLESS YOU again.

  • @MariaSopt61 <<< THANKS for the comment ... For my other Statler bro and an ALL GOSPEL channel please check out proverbs243 channel

  • The Statlers music & your pictures are beautiful!

  • This is one of the songs that my mom, my brother and myself used to sing together and harmonize. Beautiful song. Mom passed away yesterday.

  • My family started singing together when we were children. My sister Nell was 11, our trio was 4, 6, and 8 yrs. This was our FIRST song. We harmonized as we sang in the little one room country church. So hearing this song tonight brought back wonderful memories. One other thing, my brother who was 4 at the start is a minister with a ministry that helps the down and out. I wonder if singing this song so much might have had an influence....

  • The Statler's version of A Beautiful Life (Life's Evening Sun), as nice as it sounds, was done first and better by The Charioteers. The arrangement and bass solo is based on The Charioteers' original version. J.D. Sumner was famous for having the lowest voice in gospel but The Charioteers' bass singer made JD sound like a tenor. My grandmother's old 78 rpm broke. Does anyone have this?

  • Absolutely beautiful. I wish you would post the Statler Brothers' version of "Over the Sunset Mountain."

  • This is the best, oh to be able to return to those simpler days. I am 66, and have always been a Statler fan. I even spent some time on tour with them many years ago. They are the real thing, talent like this shall not come our way again, thanks so much for sharing...

  • @clbill <<< THANKS for the comment and no there will never be another group as good as Statlers !!!! " Lifes evening sun is sinking low....... a few more days and i must go to meet the deeds i have done ....... where there will be no settin sun "

  • "My life on earth is but a span, and so I'll do the best I can."

  • @Sing4More <<< THANKS for the comment ..... SO TRUE

  • I love the statler brothers and i love this song

  • I heard this song whenever I was riding in the car with my grandpa Alan growing up. Sadly he passed away in 2004 but to this day this song reminds me of him,. Not because of the memories I shared listening to this very song w/ him, but because it represents everything he stood for. This song is a much needed reminder of what I should be living for. "When going down life's weary road, I'll try to lift some traveler's load. I'll try to turn the night to day, make flowers bloom along the way."

  • @mangs002 <<<< <<< THANKS for the comment !!! Its comments like theses that make me keep makin videos. Sometime people gripe and complain and talk bad about a pic or song but then one comment like this cover a dozen bad ones THANKS !!!!!

  • @mangs002 seems most of our fondest memories involve grandparents..mine do anyway.

  • @mangs002 I have a Statler Brothers song, too! It's Thank You World-- he died listening to it. He had cancer. I feel like my dad is with me whenever I listen to anything by the Statlers-- we used to sing along to them. I am a lady but I couldn't sing the high parts until he taught me how to change my octave without sacrificing on the song.

The Statler Brothers are worth their weight in platinum.

  • Thank you for posting this. This is my favorite gospel song and my favorite gospel group. I grew up watching their TV show with my grandmother, and our favorite part was the gospel singing around the piano. I'm 27 and my grandmother passed away 6 years ago, but listening to their music still brings back good memories of when we used to sit together watching and singing along to their show.

  • When I was a child growing up in south Missouri, I would go to church with my family and listen to my Granddad preach and my mom, aunts, uncles and grand mother sing this song and many others. Oh the precious memories this brings back to me. I am now 61 and I remember so well those times in that old country church 50+ years ago. I wish I could go back and relive them again.

  • About 50 years ago, my Methodist Preacher father and our family would attend singing conventions in East Texas, usuallly on the 5th Sunday of any month, and this reminds me of some of the songs my sister and I would sing. Oh, the memories............

  • Great job as usual. That's why they are the only group in history to be in the Gospel Hall of Fame and the Country Hall of Fame. Harold is featured here and does just an excellent job. Jimmy hits a note or two, too!
