  • Every good artist takes what he likes and adds his own spice to the melting pot of sound. Gypsy jazz is not a pure art, but a compilation of cultures and experience.

  • These guys just came to play at my college, they were amazing. now i can tell people the best guitarist i ever seen was a GYPSY! much love to Stephane and his band, they were great

  • @GassyCoke I hear ya. Nevertheless, I think Stephane Wrembel Trio is primarily a gypsy jazz band---that keeps it interesting i guess?

    cheers.

  • I liked it a lot , really, but i don't think its really Jazz Manouche,i would'nt compare this to Tchavolo Schmitt, Angelo Debarre, or of course Django.

It has some gypsy jazz licks like at 4:10-...

  • What is it exactly that the drumming guy is playing on?? Anyone know? Thanks

  • @Popovishka i heard it was a modified Washboard pretty amazing..tho..David Langlois.

  • dOUCE aMBIANCE?

  • Dawg music

  • what has this with gypsy jazz do

  • This sounds very Gipsy...has alot of flamenco/arabic flavor. They all compliment eachother very well. Very Gipsy with a Jazz twist...Hence Gipsy Jazz. You guys rock!!

  • It's not Gypsy Music...Simple.

  • magic fingers! *swoon*

  • He is playing what he feels, obviously it is based in OUD... a fretless lute where the guitar came from - He has a Arabic bend so what is wrong with that? I could care less if he played on his head. How do people want to hear Gypsy? Don't speak for everyone.

  • Thanks for a great post blue banjo, I wish I had been able to be there this year. Stephane is a real contributor to Manouche jazz and acoustic jazz guitar education as well as an excellent original artist in his own right. THANKS

  • Is that harmonic minor I hear?

  • this is pretty kickass even though I typically don't like jazz music

  • the drummer is the only musician up there who is REALLY enjoying the music to its fullest exent, the guitarist and the bassists are into it too... but they're concentrating too much. When i play, i know this sounds corny, but i make it a point ot just let the sound come from within, and use my body as a channel to my emotions, im never focusing on how i can get my instrument to sound a certain way. but i guess, we all have our methods.

  • guitarist needs 2 be sitting

    its more personal that way

  • Makes no difference.

  • wow totally wooow wow!

  • lordkazama should be more like elstupidkazm. It's Stephen Wrembel for god sakes. Have you checked out his albums? I guess like all the dumb kids today hearing one note, one song is enough to write a review. Stephen is a great French Gypsy Player. Just getting his career started, willing to branch out abit. kids today. sheeesh.

  • fuck you

  • I think these guys are extremely talented. Obviously they are branching away from pure gypsy jazz and have started to inject other influences into their playing. Playing the music sitting down or standing up has no relevence to the discourse of music.

  • these guys rock!

  • Gypsy or not, you can't play this music standing up. It makes you look like a right tosser.

  • the song doesn't suck at all, just because it's not cookie cutter style gypsy jazz doesn't mean that it sucks. i think you need to widen your repertoire.

  • He is great. But like every single non gypsy - gypsy jazz player - he has 0 gypsy ear and hasnt the slightest idea how to play songs the way people want to hear it. This song sucks. End. But he is great.
