in just very short time, this guy became a hero for Armenia. The day Armenia beat Poland, and tied portugal the next game, thats when the bar got raised a little higher for us. and thats thanks to Ian Porterfield. The whole Armenian Nation loved this man, and the day of his death, it was like a tragedy for us. aside from his professional career, he was also a great man. For me, he is also an Armenian and im pretty sure there are 3 million other Armenians who think that way.
I remember it really well, Leeds were at the height of their powers and no one gave them a chance. Montgomery (the keeper) had the game of his life. Very nice to see and hear a true gentleman speak and honour his team mates. Priceless MR. Porterfield...
Portafield .ONE NIL. It is the best F.A. Cup final I,ve seen in my life time.A second division team against one of the best teams in Europe . Truly legandary ever games of all time and this from a Welshman
Getting to know Ian was truly a pleasure. He was a great man with a kind personlity. It is so devastating to see him go when he had so much more to live for. We will miss him dearly and keep him close in our hearts.
RIP Ian. Always a legend.
