  • I am from Germany and saw the musical SARAFINA! in 1989 when my wife expeced a baby. We named the girl Sarafina because we liked the name and had the hope that Arpartheid would vanish when our daughter grew up. Now Sarafina is 20 and a lovely brown eyed tan girl. I'm really happy that things have changed a lot at the Cap and I hope further progress will be made!

  • SAFA ISIZWE [The nation is dying]

    O safa, saphel' isizw' esimnyama

    O safa isizwe sabantsundu

    Anitshelen' inkokheli zethu zisilamulele kuloludaba"

    [The Black nation is dying

    The African nation is dying

Who will lead us to the day of freedom?*]

  • @TrevellMagnet2 Thanks for the lyrics.

There's only one word to describe this song:

    Enchanting.

  • sketta , thnx dude

    missed dem tracks

  • it great to be black

  • I luv my hritage...its sumfin 2 b proud of XD

  • for we proud of our motherland, proud to be who we r and wat we r

  • The song speaks of the struggle of the African. In this particular context, its the South African Black man woman and child who would be killed during apartheid just for being black. Literally, it means "the African nation is dying" and asks who will bring refuge to us. Really sad! I can watch da movie 100 times more over and over. I am still proud of being South African.

  • i just love this song.... very sad but nontheless a good song. reminds me of my late girlfriend

  • thank you for posting this great song. please can you give us the translation of this song please i need it. we want to sing it with my group.

  • I like this song. Why lie!

  • IT MAKES ME CRY

  • @kagarifuna u and me both

  • great charlie on top of the world

  • I watched this movie as a kid when it came out about 100 times over and it had me so scared of every Boer policeman I saw in Johane. My grand ma used to make us look at John Voster Square when we would pass there in the car and tell us that we might see some one thrown from the 10th floor. This movie and its music left a strong mark on my life.

  • @gallisable dats jst really a sad memory

  • does everything that white people did to black people justify black on white racism; and if not does the present attitude that the majority of white people blatantly display towards black people justify black on white racism? please don't get me wrong i am not condoning any type of racism i just want to know what the rest of you think about this- thank you.

  • I personally believe that there is no form of racisim that can or should even be a considerate thought to it's flat out ungodly and wrong. The past does not always have to repeat it self i just believe it does because after so long we forget racisism has always and will always exsist there are silent wepons that are constantly being used to fuel quiet wars all brought to you by the Gov. racisim could not exsist if the gov. had not promoted it in the first place,The people can defeat THE ARMY.

  • this is the scene when their all in prison

  • I SAY GOD BLESS AFRICA ALL THE WAY

  • ..=( beautiful song, even though i dont understand it.

it sends a chi down my back..sounds sad.

  • Wow!!!!!!

I cant get enough of Sarafina. I swear I'm in love with this movie, and all the songs in it. I love this song.

Listening to the songs in Sarafina makes me so Proud of being AFRICAN GOD BLESS AFRICA =) BLACK AND I'M PROUD

  • i love this song also cuz it just sends chills down my spine

  • good song

  • this so beutifull i just wanna cry everytime i hear it

  • The American nation should be ashamed of themselves for not appreciating the work of the people who put their hearts and devotion into making such a great movie. Look at what they did to "the Color purple"? Those movies were never nominated to recieve awards. Now tell me that's not racism?????????

  • Well they wont say it's racism, but they do like to pretend like these parts of history aren't such a big deal or they didn't happen. Which is equally sad.

  • are u serious??? the color purple was nominated for 11 oscars!! if anything americans only appreciate such movies when it depicts blacks as either suffering or former slaves..why can't we get nominations for movies not referencing slavery?

  • Wow.. you really don't know what your taking about do you? Not only was it nominated for 11 Oc. but Whoopi should have won for her nomination....now let 's talk about the kinds of black films that get nominated.. that's the issue...

  • This film is sooooooo EMOTIONAL! Its one of thegreatest movies made of all time as it bare the facts of what many young people went through during the time of Apartheid....Sarafina is BEAUTIFUL!

  • This is the song I've been looking for all along. You see, this song i sing it with a passion bcoz I understand the pain black ppl faced during apartheid. Today, I sing it with emotion bcoz of the zenophobia, crime, HIV/Aids and poverty in SA. God help!

  • what is zenophobia?

  • A phobic attitude toward strangers or of the unknown. The term is typically used to describe fear or dislike of foreigners or in general of people different from one's self.

  • pushing me forward, motivating that there is an end to all and new beginning is always to come. Keep up!!!!

  • This is my life, serious, no joke!!!!!! thank so much. glory be with you

  • i absolutly love this song

  • you can buy the dvd @ amazon.

  • sad song when the students are being transported to jail. they sing they will not be silenced. they will remain strong for the freedom of the country.

  • I love this movie....this part of the movie brings tears to my eyes. The entire is very moving. I want to have it on dvd but can't find it anywhere....

  • woowoowooo wooowooowoooo that part makes my eyes well up you can really feel the cry...

  • sarafina is my girl i love her so much...she is unforgetable young girl who dealt with so much things in d 1990s..she got the beauty and know what's right for her people n wrong...everytime i watch that movie sarafina i cry when that white bitch mistreat her like that....asking her questions that they already know the answer.....this song here make me cry every time i listen too...sarafina my baby..

  • This song brings tears to my eyes each time I listen to it....Soooo touching.

  • Brings back some dark days which we are still going through today in Africa only the tables are turned

  • I have watched this video since a child and it is my favorite. it always bring be back to reality and what my ancestors went through. I love the movie, and the songs are just great and so heart touching.......much love to all my brothers and sisters back in the mother land

  • i miss mzansi so much geya mthanda le ingoma

  • You would no believe the number of people who have no idea that Sarafina exists...I think everyone in the world especially of the African American race should atleast watch the movie once...I believe that it would change the perception and minds of many. I love, love, love Sarafina. I was only 15 when I first saw Sarafina and I was so happy and blessed that I as a young teenager could ACTUALLY understand and appreciate such art and creation as Sarafina. It shows the history and struggle of Nel.M

  • are you serious? fuck americans...

    REAL africans should watch sarafina...

we have a better chance at regaining the self pride and sanity of our REAL african people than those fuckin stupid nieces and nephews of sam

  • Comment removed
