  • Just an awesome vid and instruction. Very nice work in the oanel too..you just earned a subscriber..let me ask you this, what is the benefit of running 277 in lighting circuits commercialy as opposed to 120?

  • So where is the "wild" phase on that setup? Middle, left, or right?

  • Where would the motor starters be located? Is it in a panel next to the electrical distribution panel, or by the motor itself.

  • @davec3487 Most of the installations I run across the motor starters are located near the motor.

All of the car wash's I work on have a MCC,Motor Control Center, located some where in the equipment rooms.

So really it depends on the application.

  • I bought a panel and just discovered its 3 phase. Is there any way it can be used w/ single phase service?

  • @discountcontractor I would take it back and get the correct panel.

  • @MyKamiloo Thanks for the explanation,it's cool to learn how the other country's outside the US wire their equipment!

  • Sparky,

what do you think about the SIMpull from Southwire.. a good system.. considering cost?

  • @jjlwis I really like SIMpull wire. I first used it a couple of years ago on a 4/0 feeder pull with 4 90s @ 180' long. Nice easy pull!

  • more more more, and the info on MLO compared to MCB please!

  • Pure Gold ,Love it ,More like this.

  • @jenko701 Thank you!

  • Also each phase is 180 degrees out of phase from each other.

Confuse the people even more, talk about the difference of a Wye and Delta.

    Wye=120/208V 277/480V 4160V

Delta=120/240V 240/480V with "B" phase centered tap for ground with a 208 to 215V bastard voltage. "High Leg".

Then we can talk about 2-phase, 5 wire system, a 6-phase system, an open delta"phantom phase".

Then bow them out of the water, DC.

  • What's the point of having a 3 phase panel than a split-phase panel? They both can supply 120V/240V.

  • @sparkyUonline how do you achieve an isolated ground

  • @sbales63 Install a second ground wire back the the service, mount on a isolated buss in the panel. Just be sure not to mixed dirty ground with the clean ground anywhere in you circuitry. AKA "IG"

  • another good video spark. I think any video that is showing the correct way to do something is a winner. Doesnt really matter what part of electrical it is to me, so long as its part of the trade, and the info is accurate. I dig the videos, and I'm sure many others do as well, so thanks. cheers

  • Love your videos man! You should record on site with an camcorder. ;) just an idea!

  • @37474748 I have some videos I have done with a video camera but audio(background)noises effect them quite a bit. Also lighting is a big issue. I have a video of the panel full of breakers and the contactor control panel next to it,I guess I could throw that up and get your opinion!

  • @sparkyUonline oh yeah put it up and ill tell you how it looks and sounds. Its much easyier i think to understand when you can kinda see everything in relation to the other stuff :) But i kinda grasp the most of what your saying. I like your logic and your skills man! :)

  • @sparkyUonline I'd love that too!

  • I enjoy the instructional videos like this. Though the idiot wiring videos are interesting too.

  • i like the videos of the bad dangraos wiring
