  • You need to look for the SDK for Mac OS X. Browse nVidia site for that.

    I'm using Unity3D and PhysiX is already integrated. Therefore I'm not in position to help you much.

  • @lllllsp1d3rlllll ..Dude ,do you have the MoH 2010 ? i do and i dont understand why the single player have the PhysX , (we cant put that thing off ,like Mafia 2) and the multiplayer dont. A lot of user are saying again the ATI dont know how to make the Drivers ,but i have a GT240 ,and tested with my HD5870 ,and rungs pretty well. So on multiplers 80 to 110 FPS ,of singleplayer 20 to 50. The graphic inst better than Multipleys (with no PhysX acceleration) So what do you think about this?

  • @ssj3mohan No he has a point if DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) can take the triangles out of models then render those triangles as separate objects and make them fall apart realistically without any help of PhysX then I say well done to LucasArts since TFU does not use PhysX instead it uses Havok which is the basic underlying physics engine with Euphoria which is Bio-Mechanical animation/physics system and then they use DMM. No PhysX in their at all and it's one of the most realistic physics.

  • that is very awsome job very realistic besides one thing the damper of the car and abs dont seem to be realistic the car dousnt slid in a corner like a should but i know uv put alot of work into what u have and admire ur for that as close to perfect as any one is going to get havent seen any one get as close to a realistic racing game as urs is.

  • If thats a comma in your speed indication you are travelling at 1/2 light speed. Thats a big track you got there.

  • @linuxrobotdude Unity scripts are executed using Mono -> number to string conversion is use current locale by default. Since in Poland comma separate integer and fractional part of the number there is nothing odd in the indication.

  • @Jestek100 There are many samples on the net. This is one of those. It is not great but it is good enough.

    Unity allow to modify pitch of the sound and this is the way how it is done.

  • Not even close of GTR2 ......ahahah PhysX ahahahahh. Nvidia keep working on it, This is like the AMD/ATI says ,its only for sell more GPUs. Belive or not i got 1 GT240 only for PhycX .. And now i have ATI+Nvidia. 1 HD5870 + GT240 ... Big boost when we have PhycX in the game. Like the Batman. But the true is: the CPU can handle all physX .The CPU inst fast like GPU ,but the GPU can get 400FPS and a Good CPu can get 50-80 FPS.But the Cpu can Handle it.

  • @ssj3mohan Nice. I don't take benefit from GPU while using PhysX. I don't need it in fact. My CPU is able to handle all calculations well, mostly because I don't use complicated or very complicated scenes.

    PhysX was not the choice. It is in the package with Unity (in fact Unity relies on it).

    I know my vehicle don't behave well. It is far from my expectations, but it is much uh better than previous attempts to create vehicle.

  • @thedmd86 Plz dude ,i just was criticizing the PhysX engine ,and not your game . You are trying to make the best game as possible ,but this PhysX engine (now with Nvidia) only works to sell more Nvidia´s Gpus. ( check on the Net about the PhysX with X87) you will understand what i am talking about. Do you saw the new Medal of Honor on single player? That shit was with physx on ,and the graphics wasnt better than multiplayer without PhysX. So where is the benifit of PhysX engine?

  • @ssj3mohan Yeah, that's true. Unity make me use this library implicitly. I know about horrible performance on CPU, but I really don't care. In game above there is not that much physics at all.

    I do not like PhysX either, but at the moment it have strong support from nVidia and they are pushing developers to use it. Take look at Newton Game Dynamics, is it under development but let you do all the stuff that you cannot do with PhysX. Custom joints, advanced material systems, really advanced.

  • @thedmd86 And as you should know,you was forced to use the PhysX even without a dedicate GPU. But there arent any game with a Great physc with PHYSX engine. like gtr2. And as you should to know. the NFS shit patch 1.0 was terrible to ATI GPUs ,all becouse some part of CPU process was optimized to GPU. My real point is ,you was showing a car game with PhysX ,and i dont like what i saw. For now ,the physX still not giving us anything. Even GTR2 is alot better the any physX games.

  • @ssj3mohan Sim games have usually dedicated physics engines, so developers are able to control everything to the ground without waiting for external support.

    You can make nice arcade game with current PE, simulations is just different story.

The Sim games have a dedicade Physics,but the PhysX of Nvidia ,is terrible ,and a simple core of CPU on the SIM games is enouth to make a great engine,or better saying a great SIM. I love the reality ,but where is it ? Not in batman or Mafia 2. That´s my point. And when someone say ts just to sell more GPU ,is a little hard to say that´s not true.

  • @ssj3mohan PhysX serve for visual effect enhancements, not for reality. Look at the basis, this is impulse based engine and use vague physics pseudo laws. Don't expect more.

  • @ssj3mohan PhysX isn't a graphics renderer. It a physics engine. You can put whatever graphics in whatever detail you want on top of it.

    If you dig on Internet you will find tons of models of vehicles and tracks.

    Unity is free, you can download everything from their home page.

    Finally, no. This is not open source project, but there is possibility that above demo will be somewhere around soon.

  • This is a great looking demo. It appears that the car handles much differently (read: better) from the recent official Extreme Car tutorial that Unity has released.

    If you have looked at thier demo, can you comment on how your setup variables differ from the setup that they have built? i asume that you have avoided the wheel collider that unity provides and used raycasting instead.

  • @somavision Thanks. Behavior of car is dynamic because I don't stick to constant values. Maybe I should look at this new tutorial. I haven't seen it yet.

    In my demo most of the vehicle properties are dynamically changed during driving. That's give me more control over physics. I also use build in wheel colliders, because they can be tunned well.

  • As written in description: all assets are downloaded from Internet, edited to match game requirements and are used as placeholders. It is ok as long as game is freeware. Enjoy it. : )

  • All my scripting (in Unity) is based on their Wiki, my own ideas and quite simple vehicle model. Also PhysX documentation is handy.

    Have you tried to setup your vehicle? What king of problems did you have?

  • I need the car a little drift, with my setup the car physics its to arcade... the friction seems infinte

  • So try to decrease stiffness. Not by one or two but for example one hundred. Keep changins until you got wanted behaviour. Keep in mind: to obrain reasonable behaviour you need to change this dynamically, in my case thiose values are dependent from speed.

  • wow, that looks very cool! I understand the amount of time you must have spent to tune physx to perform like that! Were there any particular parameters which really helped the realism? How about implementing some lateral slippage, especially on the rear wheels? :) Also playable demo?

  • The key to acheve reasonable behaviour of physx wheel is to dynamically modify stiffness. Of course it is not good enought but for now is sufficient.

    Playable demo will be available soon, probably together with next movie.

    This demo was created to learn details about engine. Release unfortunately is not planed. Propably game may be available by web (like casual games). Please keep in mind that this was not created for web deployment.

    There is much more to do than adding AI and more assets. Mostly under the hood stuff. You can track progress of deveoping this demo, because I put there a new video after adding another major features.

  • Damn, this brings me back to the Dreamcast and PS2/Xbox years.

    All you gotta do is add AI, a few more maps, and an entertaining announcer and I'm playing games again 8D.... That graphics aren't a problem to me.

    When are you releasing this (if you are)? I wanna make custom city maps for this, badly >_>...
