@blzbu666 then why pay $10 to kill crazy shit? I thought this was a music game similar to Audiosurf, but I played the demo and this is a total letdown, let alone freaking confusing...
@redcloud301 lol souns intresting, but audio surf is better, well i think the wanted to make some crazy game different to audiosurf also i read that that the game is more visual with nice enviroments no more no music thimng or somthing like that
I just stumbled upon this game and man, it looks great. When I was watching the trailer my first thought was "I have no idea what is going on but it's awesome". I think I'll get it later today, looks very interesting. :D
I develop under Linux, so I used glc. Regardless of operating system, it could help to fully reboot before capturing. Turning swap off entirely seem to help under Linux but may not be essential for Windows. Having a lot of memory helps; it is essential that you have enough memory so that you wont swap.
Hi there! I really looks great. My question: I use Debian Lenny but unfortunately I am not familiar with Linux. I can't get the Linux demo of The polynomial to run (nothing happens when I click the shell script). Can you give me some advice or a link on how to run it? Thank you very much!
Hmm, try running from bin folder directly, on console, if it complains of missing libraries install those (you need freealut , freetype, and gtk). Or run it under debugger, with gdb Polynomial32 (then type 'run' to start it), so you get stacktrace if it crashes. Mail me the log.txt if you get it to run or stacktrace if you don't....
The visuals on display here are incredibly beautiful. I'm downloading the demo as I write this - and I will definately buy the complete version. Great work :)
Not really. You must follow the shape of fractal to avoid getting killed - you self-repair when you're on fractal. Its pretty much as fun to tweak the fractal as it is to play the game.
Yes and no. It wouldn't be hard to write plugin for Maya or 3DS Max that would import Polynomial's scene as particle system; exporting camera data to Polynomial is not a problem either. However, such specialized production tool would cost far more than 21 USD and would have to be developed for a big project. For small projects, photoshop compositing suffices.
If you are interested in using The Polynomial in some commercial project, you can contact me (email on website) to discuss the details.
finally a real stoner's game :D

@Beatnaut Is it really worth it? I wanna buy it on Steam too, but i don't know if it as good as, for example, Audiosurf.

You need to put in an audio visualizer/randomizer/screensaver mode, then sell it on the Playstation network for PS3. I would so buy it.

What capture program did you use? I tried Camtasia, but the video is very choppy.

r the controls mouse or keyboard oriented?

Mostly mouse. You can download the game and see the readme.

as per 2001, classical music fits extremely well in space (also, this lights reminds me of the timescape sequence).
using copyright-free classical music would be a great plus for this game

Nice job!

Interesting. Reminds me of the Spock Walk sequence from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

I, too, am reminded of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, that was my first thought. The choice of music for the video also sounds vaguely Trek.

So the fractal flames are little more than visuals, and it's just a game of "shoot the thing" in 3d space?
