  • This is awesome, have you ever actually ran your car with this?

  • Great fuel for the hobo stove in a emergency. how many days should it sit for before its ready?

  • Thanks for the post.. It will stop bubbling

    Thanks

    -Pete

  • Good stuff man, Really good.

  • Thanks

    More to come,

    -Pete

  • So after you distill the ethanol twice, it is ready to put in the gas tank? Or do you mix with gas, if so what percent?

  • Thanks for your post.

    50% mix

    -Pete

  • Hardly. ITs pretty easy.

    -Pete

  • sounds like shine to me =]

  • I dont drink anything I can light on fire.

    Thanks for the post.

    -Pete

  • Youre using pure ethanol for fuel in a car or generator ?

Well for those that do I guess youll get whats coming to you

Your ethanol doesnt seem to actually be much of a savings, in order to not contaminate the system you need to use distilled water, so thats a buck a gal itself. Current gas around $2.50 is safer and cheaper in the long run

Play with your chemistry set, but folks, be ever so careful ...

  • I was using some Ethonal added to my gas. Its cheaper to make. .

All you need is water rotten doughnuts or rotten fruit. Most places will let you have that stuff free.

Some yeast and some elbow grease.

    Cheap and it works

Agree, its always a good idea to be careful.

    Thanks for the post.

    -Pete

  • @AtheistAtLARGE I miss 2.50... gas go down! :)

  • CELLULOSE

Preparation: Chop straw or soft material. Wood must be fine sawdust or treated with 400 deg F steam for 2 hrs.

Additives (Enzymes): Add a 1% caustic solution; hold at 140 deg F for 3 hrs. to separate lignin.

    Preboil: Draw off lignin, neutralize.

Cook: Cook at 140 deg F for 4 hrs. in 1% solution of Biocellulase**.

    Cool Down: Remove sugar liquid.

Culture: Reduce temp. to 90 deg F; add brewer's yeast; agitate for 10 min.; cover.

  • Comments: Results: 2.5% alcohol. Acid hydrolysis is an alternative but expensive method.

** Available from Biocon, Inc., Dept, TMEN, 261 Midland Ave., Lexington, Ky. 40507.

  • hi, about how much ethanol do you get from a 5 gal pot of mash using this method?

  • I get slightly over a gallon. Per so I always have two 5 gallon drums of mash on hand.

    -Pete

  • That's great! 20% abv from bread yeast!! I have tried and only got 10%. I have to try the corn meal like you use!

    Thanks

  • Yeah its not expensive corn meal too.. I go to the latin market and get giant bags of it.

I use 2 of the yeast packets in the 5 gallon unit and sometimes let it sit 5 days if I still see action on it. On the 2nd day I roll the mash a little to mix it up good and then its rocking and rolling the next 2 days. ;o)

    Hope that helps,

    -Pete

  • do you boil it before adding the yeast? what about the water? city/tap water with the chlorine? or distilled? I thought I'd have to boil it because of the additives in the city water! and maybe add the chlorine remover like you treat a fish aquarium!

how about a few drinks too!

thanks, I'm gonna head to the grocery store and try it!

  • Im uploading a video responce for you and others that have the same questions.

I used super filtered water called reverse osmosis I think thats how you spell it. LOL

But you can make thse filters from parts @ home depot. They also sell a kit to do it.

Thats what I have. I would never drink the water from the tap. My showers are also filtered. But this will give you the best grade water next to a distilled water.

It works very well for me. The video response will be up within the hour.

  • Thanks for sharing with me this informative video. Keep it up. Have a great week.

  • Hi thanks for this awesome info! This was great to know - but gotta help us girls - I need a slowed down more detailed version cuz I'm kinda lame...haha no really i want to be able to do this but I'm still not sure how..? What happens - and where does the fuel come from?

  • Subscribe to my channel I will have more how tos! ;o)~

First step is to make the mash..

That was what I explained in this video. Thats the corn / sugar / yeast mix.

4 days later you have to distill the mash.

    That will produce the Ethanol.

I will have a video on that soon.

Even how to make a still.

    Take care!

    -Pete

  • i was planning a similar video.

  • nice.. Let me know if you put up one.

    Take care,
