If practicing this dance, in whatever form,makes someone happy, that is enough for me.
omg :( i'm sry, this is just so wrong.where r all the oher bellydancing moves? and btw,they r not dancing correctly with the beats and where it should be smooth it goes stiff.well,i think you should practise more and bellydancing is not only shaking your hips and perfecting the moves incase you thought it was that easy,u have to really feel the music while you r dancing to it and if u do then u will be surprised how automatically u can just move your hips 2 the beats and start to really enjoy it

I know what happened, been there so many times as a high schoolpep squad teacher the girl who was suppose to perform did'nt show up and they beg the other girl to take her place. she did'nt have a costume planned, she wasn't the best in the class but she knew the whole routine by heart, so she saved the day at the pep rally. to be honest i think they dance really well- it's not easy to shimmy like that in front of your mirror let alone in front of an audience! they will get better with practice and they are both very good anyway-people shouldn't be so judgemental. Nice one girls!
Excellent for beginners. Do what you enjoy and be proud you had enough courage to perform for a live audience. You are both talented and beautiful. No one is born a bellydancer, it takes hard work and lots of practice in front of a mirror.

For high schoolers, that was v. good. They had some good moves! Just because they aren't as good as some of the more experianced dancers doesn't mean they suck. For one, I enjoyed it.:)

It's not an ability people are born with, though. Are you never meant to try until you're perfect? And, even professionals are constantly learning. It's actually probably a good idea to get performance expierence throughout your training, even in the early days.
I liked it! Not fabulous, but what is everyone expecting, they're not claiming to be as good as Didem or Orit. BTW, yes, the girl in white has good torso action, but the girl in pink was MUCH better on the arms and hands.

Wonderful choice of music! I love all of Solace's stuff. And just so people know you are asking for the song, it's called "Cybele" by Solace. They have WONDERFUL music to belly dance to. If you did this exact same routine to 50's jazz music it would be considered a burlesque dance. This isnt authentic middle eastern dance in the least bit.
Whether we like it or not, belly dancing has evolved. I mean, we have fusion and cabaret (which I'm not too fond of). But, things happen. And the idea of belly dancing has changed as well. Some people only think it's about shaking your ass and trying to be seductive. So, just blame society ^_^ That's what I do! HAHA!
And you actually know what IS authentic middle eastern dance? Have you seen it? Ever look up Dina, for instance? No such thing as authentic in the world anymore. Belly dance is belly dance. Nothing to do with age or location.
This was really nice, and even though I don't know much about belly dance (even though i like it alot) you can clearly see that the girl who really knows how to dance is the one in the white top, she looks more natural and gracefull.

I like it,I think they were both good.
Only thing I noticed is that the girl with the pink shirt was moving her body more than her hips.
But....practice makes perfect right?

I think both of these girls looked like they were having a good time, and while they are not "professional dancers" or whatever, I think they caught the spirit. I think they both have a future wtih bellydance if they want to continue their technique training, but the most important thing is having the right energy, and I think they have it!

The girl in white looks like she is paying attention in class, the other girl looks like she is trying to add a little bit of hiphop to her moves. Doesn't work for me.

Nar2010, i have something to say to you. I am middle eastern (Egyptian actually) And even though these girls are white they totally ROCK!! I give them props for even trying something new, whereas you, have probably never shyed away from your emo music, and your american rap and hip hop. I think these two girls to beely dancing proud, and i'm sure any Middle Eastern person would agree with me.

You know, it was a good try on their part. Instead of being negative why not be happy for those who are at least TRYING to learn new things from diffrent countrys. its not like they were insulting Anyone in ANY nature. They did the best to their ability and thats all anyone can ask of them.

Wonderful choice of music! I love all of Solace's stuff. And just so people know you are asking for the song, it's called "Cybele" by Solace. They have WONDERFUL music to belly dance to. The performance was a bit off, but I could tell you girls were having fun and that's what matters! Keep practicing!

If you did this exact same routine to 50's jazz music it would be considered a burlesque dance. This isnt authentic middle eastern dance in the least bit.

Whether we like it or not, belly dancing has evolved. I mean, we have fusion and cabaret (which I'm not too fond of). But, things happen. And the idea of belly dancing has changed as well. Some people only think it's about shaking your ass and trying to be seductive. So, just blame society ^_^ That's what I do! HAHA!

And you actually know what IS authentic middle eastern dance? Have you seen it? Ever look up Dina, for instance? No such thing as authentic in the world anymore. Belly dance is belly dance. Nothing to do with age or location.

This was really nice, and even though I don't know much about belly dance (even though i like it alot) you can clearly see that the girl who really knows how to dance is the one in the white top, she looks more natural and gracefull.
