This was fantastic! However, I would not recommend taking a big smell of the boiling water with all the spices before you put the crabs in! Whooweee! Knocked me back with the spices..lol but the crabs turned out AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for posting this video!!!!
Thank you for showing that. My neighbor told us to boil em for 15min. I knew that sounded like a lenghty cooking time for small blue crabs. We used minced garlic, salt & pepper & hot sauce. This will be my 1st time eating blue crab.
omg clean it first! crack the shell off and scoop out all that nasty shit on the inside! wtf is wrong with people!?! you'd still enjoy the great crab meat and taste just get the shit out
@bjornjoseph You're insane!!!!!! I've never known ANYONE to clean a crab before cooking. Actually almost all are cooked alive, not dead and gutted (which a lot of people eat)...
YES!! boiling them alive moves the blood out and makes the meat sweeter.
On a live boiled or steamed crab, the blood moves to the outside of the meat and the inside is white and clean and sweet. Boil one dead and the meat is yellow and muddy tasting. Once I killed a crab and cooked it next to a live one. Everyone could tell the difference right away.
I'm from London and I've been watching all your Cajun cooking videos - it's totally fascinating and so different to anything I've eaten here. I want to try some of your recipes but can't find a supplier for Tony's Cajun seasoning - do you happen to know if there is an alternative that might be available in the UK?
Thanks so much for watching. Sorry i do not know any suppliers in UK. Maybe try looking on eBay. However, Tony's is basically cayenne pepper, red pepper, garlic powder and salt. --beryl
Wow. That's so cool. Reminds me of when I managed to eat an entire bushel of crabs back in Maryland. Great vid and even greater tips. I did not know that about the ice.
@krezzz3 I feel ya dude. I can't help but think that they'd be all waterlogged and runny. I think a lot of places here in MD overdo the old bay personally. Just a healthy dusting is plenty. Steam it in Natty Bo with a little cidar vinegar and then eat way too many while drinking too much beer.
Cruel... very cruel... very inhumane... I'm craving blue crabs and having to watch this. :(

that hot water would make you turn red as well.

Maybe it's better not to eat them instead of boiling them alive.

They just don't taste real good. Nothing will happen if you eat them, people are always telling newbies to crab eating to eat them.
