  • Girl can pull off a fro like she has the swag of the seventies flowing through her, with a voice that can carry through the ages.

  • Beautiful! Love her voice~!

  • Gorgeous music !

  • madly in love

  • such a BEAUTIFUL song. wish i understand spanish though.

  • Maybe she just was attracted to the melody with the sound of that language. The only language that matters here is the music anyway.

  • she should sing it in english.. great singer great instrumentalist .No reason for singing in another language but the original.

  • @Mauriciovideomaker Yes there is. It's beautiful this way! And there are PLENTY of english versions out there.

  • @Mauriciovideomaker There's plenty of reasons. You just need some imagination.

  • simplemente maravillosa me enamora

  • I´m in love!

  • Is the measure 5/4...?

  • @TheAjvizcarra Yes!! I LOVE 5/4 time, there's always something a little off about it. The only other song I can think of that is 5/4 is the original Mission: Impossible theme song.

  • @TeemSun its not really a traditional 5/4. neither is the mission impossible theme. or Take Five (good example). They all act like 6/8 2/4. A true 5/4 is like the Isengard Theme from LoTR

  • @crimsonhawk52 What are you talking about? So as soon as a rhythm is syncopated it doesn't count as proper 5 time? By that logic any cuban music based on a clave groove is actually 5 time music just acting like 4/4 because it is based on a five-accent pattern.

  • @Superphilipp hmmm not quite. but thats ok. listen to Mars from the Planets Suite after you listen to this and tell me there's no difference in how the time feels. If you can't tell, then maybe it's just me, idk.

  • @crimsonhawk52 I think it's just semantics. I agree there's a big difference in the feel between "five on the floor" and the 3+2 that jazzmen usually play. But it's still fundamentally 5/4 to me. Kind of like a jazz waltz is clearly 3/4 time (the rocking, pendulum kind of movement that I associate with waltzes), even though the stresses are on 1 and 2+.

But it's just two ways of looking at the same rhythm., I agree.

that would be awesome and beautiful music :)

  • i really like this song :)..i love the way jazz makes me feel inside <3

  • Digging this take on this absolute classic standard.

  • The language is spanish!!

  • For the first dozen or so bars I thought this was a Bluenote recording from the early 60's! This is serious art.

  • Deliciosa versión de este tema clásico...;)

  • This is crazy good.

  • anyone knows which album this is from and who the pianist is? ><'' thanks~!

  • Body and Soul in 5/4 and in Portuguese....why not, btw?

  • @SALLEMJAZZ You mean spanish.. not portuguese

  • what is the name instrument photo?

  • @GROMIS55 The instrument is called a double bass, or upright bass, whichever you prefer to call it.

  • @GROMIS55 bass

  • you rock, i like your voice.

  • that 2 person must be no ear

  • IIII LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ESPERANZA

  • I wonder if she did this song in english also. I dont know what she's saying but I like the flow of the song.

  • @deannagreen29

Look up "Body and soul" by Ella Fitzgerald or any other vocalist, I'm pretty sure this is the same song but in Portuguese.

  • @kangak10 I surely will & thanks!!! She did Stevie Wonders', "Overjoyed" & it's beautiful. Esperanza is awesome. I recently started listening to jazz again & it's the most calming music to my ears. It's like you're at a play in your mind. Have a good Sunday.

  • She is an incredible artist! I hope more younger people follow her lead into the jazz world in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or any other language! The musicians she pairs up with are incredible artists too! Love it!

  • I have the biggest girl crush on her. Tell me someone who can play bass, sing this in Portuguese, and sound this sexy other than Esperanza Spalding.

  • @FueledByGaby she's speaking spanish. bad spanish by the way. even though she's musically a complete delight

  • @gealoa Haha, I know. But she does sing in Portuguese in a-few of her other songs.

  • I think he means the person who disliked this video. I love this take of body and soul. SO MUCH

  • She is so beautiful and talented. I wish I could meet her : /

  • 5/4 jazz O_O not smth i hear everyday

  • Perfect!

  • 1 person is Justin Bieber. Sorry, I had to.

  • @jazzbuckeye No. You didn't. You wanted to, 'cause you're an idiot.

  • @jazzbuckeye ??????????????

  • shes fantastic

  • I'd bow to her if i'd meet her... she's a music genius!

  • She can REALLY swing hard! WHAT a voice and WHAT an instrumentalist! JAZZ is alive and well as long as there's musicians like Esperanza!

  • @DickWhittington1000 yep 'cept Esperanza herself doesn't particularly like her music referred to as "jazz"...

  • @lazer300 I can dig Esperanza doesn't like her music referred to as jazz, she can refer to it anyway she likes because it's her doing the creating. This is however an old jazz standard, but flavored by Esperanza in a way that makes the tune her own. Only Louis Armstrong's version even comes close to this wonderful version.

  • She was well deserving of the award...I see nothing but success on the horizon for this beautiful young woman. Magnifique. Phenomenal!

  • COULD NOT AGREE MORE - this is fabulous, would go so far as to say life changing. Love it to death.

  • Can't say enough about how great this is! AHHH!

  • talent she deserved the grammy

  • @honeybee7700 she deserved to be cool girl

  • Comment removed

  • @Bgrenimann unfortunately, you spell words like that...

  • @honeybee7700 she deserves better.

people like bruno mars and slipknot get grammies.

  • @wilzyplug

Bruno mars is actually pretty good, most artist don't write or produce there own songs. Bruno does both write and produce. And his songs actually have meaning other than them dance club songs that are popping off now days.

  • Beautiful!!
