  • Yup, the famous line by Robert Shaw "yep, 3 tons of em".

  • wasn't the jaws 3 tons... -___-

  • 3,000 lbs? Wasn't Jaws 3 tons?

  • stupid people. destroying a beaty boat just for fun.... go read the wood composite manual used on the boat and you get the pressure that is needed to break it....

  • @Frixix What's the make and model of the boat though? Looks nice enough.

  • I was watching a video about a barking cat, and now I'm here...

  • and besides, great whites can swim up to 43 miles an hour, they hit the boat at twenty five

  • sharks have no bones, only flexible cartilage, only their teeth are calcified

  • i actually have a phobia of shark

  • @AungTH1 in what way? A phobia is an _irrational_ fear. I've been in water with 6ft long reef sharks and not been afraid, but I've also been close to tiger sharks, and I don't think there was anything irrational about my fear of them (I swam into a rock pool that they couldn't follow me into, and watched them from there.)

  • the mako shark is the fastest in the waters hitting around 46mph..

  • How'd i end up here, I started on the 5 calibre riccochet video

  • i think if there bustin movies they should research if one laser shot really could destroy the deathstar or something stupid like that !

  • That would hurt a shark's nose a lot more than it would hurt the boat, I think.

  • Question: How old is this boat and how old was the Orca in the movie? Bear in mind that they had been at sea for several days, so it might've weakened the boat.

  • Comment removed

  • @kriksis00 iam dumb :(

  • can sharks swim 25mph?

  • @ricochetVendetta some sharks can, at a top speed. i think a great white is one of them.

  • well u know jaws is a plastic shark so..... yeah

  • well u know jaws is a plastic shark so..... yeah

  • What if during a shark week special a real great white jumped on the back of the boat and ate Jamie the exact way Quint was eaten?

  • @c150ace What if during shark week they found the Kraken?

  • @WTFLOLBBQHAX RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

  • press f5 for the adds to go away

  • @REDSTEEL2FAN thanks

  • wouldnt the fact that a shark isn't made of metal change this lol

  • @sethcenterbar weight is the same and sharks have bones

  • she is hot

  • in the movie quint said 3 tons of so the experiment would have had to weigh twice as much

  • '

how many jaw( S ) hit a boat,,,

    one or more than one

  • my shark went belly up

  • science is fun :D

  • lemme guess they blew the boat up at the end right..?

  • @TheChevMaster

Probably ran that tank into it after LOL.

  • i thought the jaws GW at what? 23 foot? would weigh more thn 3000 pounds

  • @behemuth I think they were testing on it this could happen in real life or not. And to my knowlege, the GW from Jaws was an exaggerated size.

  • @PixarShark if they where to test the movie myth they would have to use a shark of the same proportions, but if it is as you say, that the myth tested was of a normal great white and not the myth, then yeah it works.

  • fast fish...

  • Im not questioning their logic but, well what they have to understand is the one in the movie is wooden, while the one in the test video is fiberglass.

  • I know this is entertainment more than science but anyway; They should have used something of the same squashiness as a sharks head on the end of their ram. The difference between being hit by a fist and a fist in a boxing glove is quite significant.

  • @chrisofnottingham quite true

  • yes, but. do you know how hard the sharks head are?

  • you shud email Adam and tell hm that. Xx

  • Your science pleases us, O benificent one.

  • @chrisofnottingham yeah, the sharks nose is like rubber, kinda like the end of a Dogs wet nose. So their would be abit of give.

  • @chrisofnottingham Sharks aren't soft and cuddly, their noses are bone and cartilage. Newton explained the laws of motion a long time ago.

  • @chrisofnottingham is squashiness a scientific term? :P

  • @chrisofnottingham sharks heads are actually quite hard

  • rofl

  • The shark in Jaws was much larger than normal so why did they use 3000 pounds that a normal shark would weigh? They should have taken approximate measurements from scenes in the movie and determined how much Jaws himself would have weighed.

Besides, from the rapid hitting of the boat I would guess that was done by hitting the boat with his tail, not ramming it.

  • In the movie Jaws they state the estimated weight and size of the shark. Matt Hooper stated that it was a twenty footer and immediately Quint states and I quote " Twenty five with three tons on him". I agree with you that the mythbuster crew used a test for a much smaller animal. The point is clear though that a 3000 pound animal could breach the side of the boat. So Jaws could as well. Besides Jaws was supernatural like Moby Dick anyhow.

  • The shark in jaws 1 is, in fact, female.

  • We're gonna need a bigger boat.

  • i expect the shark dead after its first hit lol...

  • LOL xD not only does a shark lack the physiological mechanisms to move in reverse, but if you dragged one backwards (or most other fish for that matter) it forces water into their gills which causes them to drown! strange but true.

  • That is true but i have little catfish in my tank and they swim backwards all the time... I don't really get how but they do...

  • As far as I can recall, the correct thing to do is to kick it in it's gills

  • a rodeo bull weighing 1500 lbs, which eats grass would be able to take a blow to the nose so I think a white shark, an apex predator, that can weight 5000 lbs + and kills its food by firstly torpedoing it from beneath at speed, slamming face first into seal, some that can weigh 400 lbs not to mention elephant seal at over 1500 lbs. I dont think even a blow from a strong man to it's nose would drive it away in panic but may only piss it off. of course we are only talking " jaws" sized sharks here

  • @80sOGRE you need to remember two things:

    A) A sharks nose is extremely sensitive because that is where it senses all those electromagnetic waves....and

    B) When a great white torpedo's prey from underneath, its aiming to catch the prey in its mouth, not hit it with its nose.

  • I understand and am aware of those facts about shark physiology. but live targets move and surely every great white who has ever attempted that beneath strike has at one point or another smashed their nose unintentionally rather than their mouth as was the plan. this being probable means the large white used of using this hunting method are not put off by the occasional 400lb impact to the nose, how much force do you think a punch in water could produce? little shark YES.big shark...?

  • I see your point but mine is that a shark will never intentionally ram its nose into another hard object at full speed.

This is like us running as fast as we can face first into some object underwater (which i can tell you is alot more painful underwater than in air). We might do some considerable damage to said object...but we would be in alot of pain and bleeding....so would the shark.

  • DjSkrull:

I spent a lot of wasted time trying to figure out what a great white torpedo is.

Use proper english. Don't use apostrophe unless you're referring to ownership of the noun involved.

  • well i dont think i was replying to you. you shouldn't walk into another persons conversation and then complain when your lost.

  • You're lost.

Your denotes ownership of the following word to a specific person in personal speech.

Your car. Your posts. Your grammar is lousy. Your command of english is horrendous.

You're refers to a shortening of 'You' and 'Are' into a shorter term.

And I also note you forgot to add the apostrophe to your 'persons'. All the excess apostrophes in the unnecessary places, and all the shortages in the needed ones.

Go back to school and focus in class.

  • mind your own business.

I know the difference between there, they're, and their, your, yours, and the implication of ownership with " ' ". I simply don't give a damn.

    now get lost.

  • This is the internet not school nerd

  • DjSkrull, snowfox95:

    And you're still wrong anyway!

    hahaha

  • @snowfox95

You're correct. This is the internet and not school. But since employers are now examining your digital life on the internet super highway before they hire you, I can safely say that if you were under my consideration, you would not find yourself employed at my company. Always remember that proper grammar can make the difference between, "I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I helped my uncle jack off a horse." and that clear communication is important in ANY environment.

  • i was about to say he is not typing an essay but that was funny, who cares aboout spelling on youtube lol and if u do u need a g.f bro. no joke. but nice joke hahha made me laugh.

  • lol

  • This is retarded. Sharks are VERY sensitive about their noses. Even a tap on them is enough to discourage shark attacks. One would never do this...

  • The question is: COULD a 3,000lbs animal, ram a hole through a boat. You're obviously too smart to see the point. And you forgot to point out that there's no such thing as a 3,000lbs shark.

  • You are clearly an idiot as the Great White Shark, which Jaws is in the movies and which they are trying to test (which you probably couldn't figure out) can weigh up to 5,000 lbs or more according to national geographic. Get your shit straight before you try to make people sound like idiots, you are just doing it to yourself.

  • A white shark can weigh up to 5000 lbs.

  • which may be why they said it never happens... they just did the test because of the Jaws movie

  • one account i read about a ww2 pilot using the stock of his .45 to pistol whip a shark and the metal fisheye got flattened on the top of the sharks head. he said hitting the shark on the nose ( which they were instructed to do ) did nothing to deter the shark. maybe some sharks are psycho.

  • Het, there are plenty of psycho people, why not sharks lol

  • Psycho-Chimps are better.

  • hahah thats jokes

  • So he got eaten?

  • apparently not. psycho-chimps would be really funny, seeing all those lab technicians get pumbled on survellance footage and ending up on "when monkeys attack"

  • I wouldn't go as far as saying a tap..

  • dec21000 have you ever watched jaws?

the shark is a cyborg shark or somthing, so if it rammed a boat it wouldnt hurt the shark

  • that doesnt sound right

  • They only rammed it once, didn't Jaws ram the living shit out of his boat?

  • Yes. What makes it even funnier, "Jaws" rams the boat in very rapid sucession. Like he's under there kicking it with he "feet" or something! Either that, or he can back up an ram over and over like a freakin' woodpecker pecking.

  • Killer whales have ramed and sunk larger sail boats.

  • Id say more damage would be caused to a real shark rather than the boat.

  • obviously.

  • @dec21000 I don't think so. Their noses are solid bone. And Jaws probably wasn't going that fast.

  • ah ya but sharks noses are very sensitive so hitting a hard object wouldnt take their fancy id say:P

  • What is the APC's name?

  • I think that's an M113, not 100% though

  • what are the odds a great white will be on land retard

  • a shark whould not go belly up by hiting a wood boat kari

  • The water would slow the "shark" down!!! This is not hard. If they did a test when the "shark" was not in water (hooked it up to a rig or something), got it up to a greater speed, and had it collide with the boat, the results would have been different

  • Sharks can't fly... :)

  • hello flying sharks

  • dude... they were dragging the shark at the speed the Great white typically swims at. so... stop being retarded

  • Yeah exactly

  • its also made out of metal and not soft flesh

  • The shark would be hurt worse then that boat...

  • no it woundent

  • LOL at the comments, it's like a chain lightning made up of idiots

  • lol agreed

  • i agree too

  • me too

  • Its youtube, what do you expect?

  • We already know that's impossible!

  • Actually they showed its theorectically possible. Dickwad

  • Both of you are irritating. Go die violently.

    I agree with you though.

  • go mythybusterys!

  • nice one

  • A GIRL WITH BALLS! W0AH To Tyeshawn5

  • mythbusters are the best ever
