I've tried the hammerhead but I find by the time I've turned around and gotten back into flight the enemy is already coming back. I end up back in a head on attack situation. Any advice?
@MrDannysinclair LOL, okay. Though I've used the Immelmann in dogfights to turn around fast and gain altitude. Same thing with the split-s though I've slapped earth when I forgot I was too low.
@MrDannysinclair An immelmann can be done, but halfway you will have to rotate your plane to make you a smaller target. Don't wait to rotate on top of the loop, rotate earlier and maybe even turn a bit during it. I still call this an immelmann, but maybe its called something else.
@Fastbikkel I never use an Immelmann or hammerhead in a dogfight, it's too easy to trace. In the video I just try to show a perfect Aerobatic aligned with an airfield.
@MrDannysinclair In the video, you clame that "Hammerhead" was probably invented by some Japanese pilot... WRONG.
"Hammerhead" is THE SAME thing as "Immelmann" ;). It's another name for the original Immelmann's combat maneuver. I don't know why people use it in wrong way. "Immelmann" was not that half-loop-and-roll maneuver.
The hammerhead you show here is NOT invented by a japanese pilot to be used by himself alone but is the "real" Immelmann.
He developed it in WW1 and used it to get on the tail of an opponent he just passed head-on. It was not for changing direction, but an aggressive move to reenter combat asap and finish the ennemy.
I have played my new game (Company of heroes: Opposing Fronts) For a mounth, i putted in my IL2-1946 disk to play but my computer lagged up, and it says that i have to re-install the game, Stupid, Stupid Vista! (Nice vid, nice detail, 5/5)
can somone tell me how to get these vids from the game to windows movie maker?

@colddrake80 Advice: Do not use a hammerhead in dogfights ! ! !
BarrelRoll, Hammerhead and Immelmann are essentially Aerobatics...

Have you done one on the Rolling Scissors?
Tagemandbagem 1 year ago
@Tagemandbagem
The rolling scissors are not an Aerobatic but an aggressive combat tactic.
I don't have a video from this maneuver yet because i never
use it in dogfight.
There are many techniques, for instance the High and Lo Yo-Yo,
or Boom 'n Zoom, but it's very difficult to make a good looking and
understanding video from this techniques.

Excellent that someone is finally doing some aerobatic tutorials.
A couple of notes though:
- Isn't a barrel roll made by "rudder + elevator", as opposed to "ailerons + elevator"?
- There is a difference between
"hammer-heads", rotating around the centre of the aircraft
"Wing overs", rotating around the tip of the "downward" wing
"Tail slip", falling back along the verticle path.
Keep em coming... :)
