  • seat. AWKARD

  • one turbo - minus one seet. plus one light weight racing seet. bye bye.

  • Still slow :o

  • this is my dream track car. i got my perfect dd, a gto, and my dream weekend car would be a z06. the s2000 is way to to slow for street driving (imo) where all your really doing is going in a straight line. unless if im on a track i want brute torque, and high hp numbers. something the s2k is lacking.

  • Thumps up If you typed in 'Racecar' + Racecar is Racecar backwards. LOL RANDOM

  • why do you have the traction control off? is bettter to track wit no VSA?

  • I say skip the CR. Yeah it's got some nice features but I think the hard top AP2 looks far better; the bodykit on the CR is too much for me.

If I were to get a stewie I'd like to build it from the ground up. You can do all the suspension mods yourself, and if you invested in a comptech kit and a new clutch you'd have something real special.

just my two cents but God I love this car

  • They always get this Asian guy to do Honda reviews, what kind of innuendo is that motortrend? Not all Asians drive Hondas motortrend...

  • Dear santa.... ;p

  • why did they stop selling this car as well as the NSX?

  • I got an S2000. An Ap1, still very nice. By far one of the best true performance cars,

without needing a turbo/SC or something with 8/more cylinders.

  • What a dream. One of my favorite cars at ANY price point. It's like a nicer miata. Hope to get one of these next.

  • I want to see the cr vs the regular s2000

  • @crenge

dont do it man!! we call that an all wheeler traitor

  • The only fairly good car Honda ever made.

  • dead wrong, NSX

  • @aybeeceeboi im sticking with what i said, not that its the fastest thing they have ever made but the best none the less.

  • Not sure on getting one of these or a 2011 subaru wrx.

  • why do the wheels go forward it looks like its going wackwards

  • Loh is 10x better than that knob St.Antoine. Thank God he's gone.

  • if only it had the civic headlights from 93'

  • clutch? digital gausses? where do you people learn all this car stuff...

  • i think the NSX is the best sports car Honda ever made, s2000 is second.

  • @rickslick730 agree.

  • @rickslick730 chances are tho that most people will be able to afford the s2k bro... this will be my mid-life crisis pretty soon lol

  • @rickslick730 I agree, but the s2000 is SO much cheaper to purchase and to maintain.

  • @1465225568 That is true! I guess i just fit better sitting in the NSX, then i do the in a s2000, I sat in both I'm 6'1, the s2000 is OK, but the NSX had more leg room. but they both are nice rides.

  • why can't american auto makers make a car with technology, good weight to power ration, and good handling

  • @19danflo they did! look at the Cobalt SS

  • @gmracing15 i agree but i'm not a big fan of FWD, but yeah the SS is respectable

  • Sounds like he isn't reving it to the redline! Otherwise amazing machine :)

  • Sweet over reving on up shifts and heel and toe'ing.... oh wait.

    Poor clutch :/

  • I wonder why Honda did not lower the CR for at least an inch? It looks too high. I had to lower my S2000 about an inch to look even better.

  • @Advancedlites it has to do with stability and durability.

  • man, i was thinking of re-painting an s2000 that same colour, before i saw that video. gotta be original now

  • I really do like the digital gauges and the rest of the interior for the car. A lot of cars have great engines, but don't put much thought and design into constructing the interior layout. Interior and exterior looks is 1 of the things I look for in a car. Nissan Z cars have good layouts and designs as well.

  • red light sweet spot = vtec lmfao

  • Damn that thing looks fun. There's one for sale right now here, just south of SF.

  • Oh boy! A V tec light!

  • Good driving for asian man.

  • @TheJoePepper I suggest you search "best motoring international" on youtube. That should educate your white self-esteem a bit better

  • @icefox1983 Why would I have white self-esteem if I'm not white? Maybe you should look up the word 'assumption'.

  • put more g's fist!!! 1:33 lol

  • LOOK at the giant word on the wall, THE STREETS!

  • Top of my dream cars :D

    1. Honda S2000

    2. Nissan Skyline GT-R 34 - GT-R 35

    3. Mazda RX7

  • @leondreaq rx7 is not that expensive, shoulnt be a dream car for you !

  • ive never seen a s2000 hardtop except in video games lmao, do they come with hardtops?

  • @noremorse126 yeah they have for a long time just people don't wanna pay 3 grand for them

  • The s2000 is gone and honda... Honda is dead

  • lol did u see how slow that spedometer went up

  • @StevenBTT

    Mr. lol:

FYI, the CR is a momentum vehicle. The speedo should not deviate. Fast in and fast out. I watched a CR turn better lap times at Pacific Raceways, than a 2010 Porsche Turbo with 480BHP.

The 2010 Turbo that was beaten during track days, was a factory replacement for one of the 20 destroyed in a 2008 train wreck in Germany.

Mr. lol, if you don't slow down, you dont' need to speed up.

  • i guess whoever invented honda and honda cars only had in mind "lets save gas for people" and they discontinued this car because it wasted gas? not sure. but im probably guessing that they discontinued it because of the milage and didnt want to ruin the reputation. and honda is made to save gas or for quality...besides this car...every other honda is made for quality and somewhat style...

    correct me if im wrong!

  • every Asians in my neighborhood either own or wanting to own one

  • LOL, the place to start?

My first racecar was about..... 7 - 8000 dollar............ way cheaper much?

  • very good car.

BUT, the fucking piece of tarmac that is called racetrack streets of willow. In europe or everywhere else is better road surface even on training tank field

  • I like Honda vehicles, but their performance cars are overpriced. C'mon, 38 grand for this and radio & A/C not included. Performance cars from Japan are usually overpriced. Think about it. In the 90s, the Supra, 300zx, and 3000GT, all twin-turbo, had a starting price around 40 grand and goes as high as 45 grand. The price for current Z car, Mustang GT 5.0 and Camaro SS start around 30 grand and they'll probably spank this car in most performance catagories.

  • @postersurfman1 : Well the reason for no a/c and radio is to save weight, but I see your point, 38k is alot to drop when you can get similar performance today for at least 8k less. The CR is legendary, and most likely their value will only increase over time, believe it or not. I'm trying to buy one off from a friend of mine, but he doesn't part easily with any of his cars. Also, the Mustang/Camaro/Charger/Challenger set are in a diff. category all together, they are way heavier vehicles.

  • @gman2000 The A/C components and the radio couldn't possibly weight that much. The car already weights less than a Civic, which is a very good starting point. I'm not sure if the car is a soft top. If it is, than thats were the weight should've been cut at. Soft tops or any type of convertiables weight more than hard tops because of the extra weight place on the vehicle to keep it from flipping over.

  • @postersurfman1 : I know a guy that pays extra if he has to, to get a/c and radio taken out of his cars when he orders them. He just ordered a 2010 911 GT3 RS, I can't wait to go for a spin, white with red mirrors and red wheels. I'm not sure if it comes with radio and a/c, probably not, and if it did he probably had it taken out before it left Stuttgart. Weight is a tricky thing, any weight you can save can mean the difference between first place and second.

  • It comes stock with AC and radio... I'll make a video response right now.

  • @S2KANDWRX Thats not true it comes as on option. Its a $1000 upgrade for both.

  • Love the sound of that S2000. Wouldn't buy it without an AC or radio though, unless i had a lot of money and another car in which i would do my daily commute and leave this one only for the track and for fair weather days.

  • @valentin21485 They come with AC and radio, they can just be deleted very easily, I'll make a video of mine if you want.

  • cr in white looks amazing !

  • Stick around..

    S3000 is coming in 2011

  • s2000 is truely an amazing machine, I have a 2006 model and absolutly love it! most fun I've ever had behind the wheel.

  • i put glue on my wheels to make it stickier.. seemed to make it slide more..

  • guy cant drive for shit

  • A true performance car...no luxuries, just an engine and transmission...I wish Honda didn't get rid of it.

  • no a/c? lol car doesnt belong in hot climates like the pacific region then.

  • @k20a671 u can still choose to add a/c and radio, but i think u need to oay an extra grand i think

  • he needs to learn how to shift lol

  • @nick0202

in small courses like that it dont make much sense to shift just for 1 or 2secs cause youll be downshifting anyways. by staying in the same gear you can use engine brake a little too. youll see that a lot on small tracks, but on bigger tracks you rarely see it cause the straits are longer and allows you to climb through gears. idk, just something to think about next time you go to the track

  • i love my s2000!

  • i dont

  • love the car, hate the wing. why do people even put those on?

  • in high speeds the airflow pushes the rear end down causing more traction to the rear wheels, but most people just put them on because they are ricers and they dont even care what it does to improve traction, there for giving it a bad reputation

  • I see, I see. Well, someone once told me that a rear spoiler or a wing wouldn't even come in to use unless the car was going well over 200 miles per hour. That's why I don't really see the point unless you're going for a land speed record or something.

  • that isnt true at all, while it is true that the faster you are going, the more it will effect your car, pretty much at any speed the car is moving through air the spoiler will create down force. if you can find a good side view of the wing you can kinda imagine air going across it and you'll be able to see what i mean.

  • downforce

  • damn that looked like fun

  • he just called somebody that was about to drop 40k on am s2000 a 'wannabe racer' on youtube thats nice

  • when i drove my dads on the track it lost pedal feel and braking performance on the 2nd lap i would change the pads on it if you want to drive on the track

  • As much as I like to prove to people that ed loh is a dumb ass, who's views on cars is VERY bias. What he say about the s2000 is correct and this is the only honda i respect (and kinda admire) I believe the s2000 is the best sports car honda as every made the cr version is a great track car for short to medium size tracks. it is a shame they discontuned it

  • @gmracing15 the nsx-r is great 2 but way too much money :/

  • @gmracing15 U obviously never heard of the NSX!

  • @L3andr3 yes I have, it's 2 expensive and WAY overated for the cost!

  • @gmracing15 I suppose u are right about that now, Honda is one of those auto companies that I kno can do so much better in terms of building performance but apparently they aren't into that sort of stuff anymore, for Christ sake its 2010 and they still don't have a fucking V8!

  • @L3andr3 They wouldn't or couldn't build a v8 anyways!(not their thing) all japanese manufactors are now going through what FORD went through and GM coming out off! IT's call profit over product and image. except for nissan no japaniese car makers are build fun or even good or interesting cars anymore!

  • @gmracing15 I agree, isn't Subaru an Japanese auto maker? I think they're STi's have been doing well. But yes that is true, other than Nissan's 370Z and GTR, not much else happening over there, and lets face the music, anyone with sense would take the GTR over Lexus new LF-A.

  • @L3andr3

Anyone with sense would take the LFA over a GT-R actually. Then they would sell it and buy the superior GT-R (and maybe a house too).

  • By the way, do Porsche or Nissan make a v8? I think Honda is doing fine. Most of their cars are not a whole lot of fun but they are efficient and they run forever. There can be a lot to said for a car that is cheap and gets you where you need to go without breaking down. Not everybody is looking for a sports car for all of their cars to be sporty.

  • @gmracing15 i agree

  • @L3andr3 : Given the advances in VVT, direct injection, even variable compression ratios, lighter metals, I doubt there will be a need for an 8 cyl. engine for Honda to develop for the U.S., unless it's fitted to like a Ridgeline and sold as a "super race" version with only like 4000 units or less per year, sort of like Land Cruiser/Lexus GX volume. They leave V8's to GM, Ford and Chrysler.

  • @gmracing15 The NSX-R is Honda's best sports car.

  • @gmracing15 so u think its better than a nsx

  • @shadyredline NO I don't think the s2k is better than the nsx, cause it IS better than the nsx (in terms of a sports car and it's potential)

  • @gmracing15 so a 30,000 s2k is better than my 3000 doller hatch that beats s2ks with a stock b16 that cost me 1000 to put it

  • @shadyredline Not this shit again!!! (my peice of shit car can beat the more expensive stock car argument) first a stock civic (i'm assuming that is what you have) chasis with a stock b16 WILL NOT BEAT THE S2K. when the drivers skill and their enviroment are equal. Plus by the way your repling to the comment suspects me to believe you are in a drag race! the s2k shines in corners not staight away speeds (dispite this, it is still quicker than stock & most lightly tuned civics)

  • @gmracing15 lmao i beat them every weekend who the fuck r u stock s2000s are fuckin slow for their price thats what im sayin there not the best honda ever made the nsx is. they dyno in at 200 to the wheels all day at the dyno there not worth 30000 thats what im sayin

  • @shadyredlineSOOOOO! what are you saying then are you A) lying about what you have (see previous comments) or B) the people in your area that own s2k's are talentless drivers (it takes a GOOD driver to see the real limits of the s2k, kinda like a modern muscle car but for different reasons) Facts do not lie! on top off that s2k are far better tuning base than any civic or the over priced under delivering NSX! Fun fact s2k can out brake and out corner NSXS in stock trim.

  • @shadyredline So in other words...ur 3000 hatch with 1000 b16 you "threw on"....what this means is that your stock hatch cant do shit unless you change THE ENGINE to make it faster?

its like getting a fucking GEO METRO and putting a EVO MR engine in it and saying its fast.ITS ALL ABOUT THE MODS! sure it cost 4000 ish for you to fix ur little hatch but in the end its just AN ENGINE FROM ANOTHER CAR. so what does that tell you? your stock hatch is slow and u have to change a lot to make it fast.

  • @shadyredline dude a stock b16 will not beat an s2k unless he is the worst driver know to man....stock s2000 runs 14.2 stock with no mods at all what does you b16 hatch run? 15s? p.s i have had gsr hatches b16 coupes and a h22 hatch..so i know about civics...b16 are weak ass fuck no torque

  • @karsseboomh22 i ran a 13.53 in my hatch it weighs 2198 with me it and i beat stock ap1s or door to door with em

  • @shadyredline thats why because 2198 is soooo fuckin light with you in it....and yes if you b16 hatch is running 13.5 you will beat an s2k....but a stock b16 hatch full interior will not run mid 13s more like low 15s to high 14s...a good driver will hit 13s in a stock s2k...

  • @shadyredline a civic is a civic my friend. Wont get you any pssies ...

  • @AyashiFX55 youre an idiot

  • @AlexanderBlueAvenue please justify why i'm i an idiot? If you dont , means your more idiot than me.

  • @AyashiFX55 because you're comparing the s2000, making 100hp per liter which is a feat in mechanical engineering and a nearly perfectly balanced sports car, to a civic. yes that does indeed make you an idiot.

  • @gmracing15

i agree with what u said about the S2000 but what about the NSX!?

  • @081588101 The Nsx while well built, It is very overrated as a sports car.At the end of it's production run here it was 120g (here in canada anyways) and for a car that much with only 290hp good handling or not! that's not good enough!

  • @gmracing15 Before the R35 GTR, NSX is considered to be the fastest JDM, even japanese agreed to that, it's not about its horsepower, its about power to weight ratio and its superior handling in the race track... The super GT was dominated by NSX back then that's why they banned the rear engine platform... But now Honda created the HSV 010 to show the world that they can do a supercar but they just chose not to...

  • @reidenroyce No offence but thats like saying a turtle is faster then a snail, when you say the NSX is the fastest JDM. from 2002 to 2008 IT was the fastest but look at the industry at the time (gtr gone, supra gone, rx7 gone 350z was new and needs improving) and the fact that nsx was banned in super gt wasn't cause of the car design or speed!, BUT worse then that! when you factor in the price of the thing espically against the world, the NSX wasn't competitive

  • @gmracing15 Wtf are you talking about, the only time any GT-R was faster than a NSX of the same MY was from 89-91, and once the NA1 NSX-R came out the GT-R would never regain the title of fastest JDM until R35, which is garbage. The NSX never lost to any dumb Supra and the RX-7 was only fastest JDM while the NSX-R was on haitus but the NA2 NSX-R took that title back with a vengeance and was the only "276ps" era machine to break 8 minutes at the ring.

  • @gmracing15 L2 NSX... fool

  • @gmracing15 i seriously doubt they could discontinue this car, there is no other car that quite says "race me" like the s2000, i hope this isnt a false hope but i feel like theyll pick up on the s2000 soon

  • haha nice

  • It needs a new look, design looks old

  • Fuck yourself.

  • Someday (but not for a looong time) this will be a nice collectors item. The wing and fascia are positively embarrassing now but they'll be nice and campy in 25 years.

That said, who needs a wing? The downforce (more accurately reduction of lift) is pointless on the street and practically useless on tracks one would use this on.

  • I heard there's already a concept out for the S3000. S2k with a V6

  • i would rather see honda try to make an attempt at a small displacement 8 cyl. take 2 of their 2L 4's and join them at a common crank :-)

  • That would be very powerful!

  • honda is da shit

  • Shocks aren't supposed to be "stiffer"

  • Great car!!

    But bad driver!

    My grandmother drive better!!

  • club racer for the win

  • Lol dick!

  • WTF is wrong with the FRONT END and the SPOILER?

    they look perfect!!!

  • ahhh named after the infamous CR 2 strokers lol

  • its probably shit at turning but hes american so anything that can turn corners shocks him

  • honda s2000 cr ROCKZ

  • Uehara's retired noobs.

  • i want an s2k (s3k) 3l inline six i ait the onlyone ppl swap 2jz engines in s2k's i even see an s54 in an s2k (m3 engine) w would realy like that :) (srry for bad english)

  • I wish they would stop all this crap that they have been making like those new civic si's and they should have made those tall rsx type-s cars lowerand wider they still sit tall lowered. They should make a Honda s2000 type-r with 2.0 liter that has 9500 rpm red line and 265-280HP

  • I second that man, Honda seems to be getting soft.

  • agreed. i want to be able to say my car does OVER 9000...rpm

  • why? is that a benchmark for yourself? why not be able to say that you have a car that makes you happy? Maybe you want a torque monster like a Viper, a silky smooth E55 AMG, a high-reving Ferrari, a nimble Lotus or even a car that has nothing to do with speed? Oh and don't take this seriously, i'm just bustin ur chops cause I am bored and this is how I feel.

  • because if someone asks me where my redline is, i want to be all like...ITS OVER 9000!

and imitate the whole dragon ball z thing

  • niiiiiiiiice!!!

  • lmao... priceless....

  • Eh.... I don't know of any factory cars that do over 9k RPMs, can you list any for me? F20C (1st gen) S2000 has 9k redline. RX-8 (1st gen, I don't know about 2nd) has 9k redline.

Most cars I know of that do over 9k RPMs are built for it... I know BMW E30s with 12k redlines, and Honda civics with 10-11k redlines. But I know of nothing from the factory OVER 9k RPMs.

  • :( guess im going to have to make a worked f20c

  • You'll have to make a reworked, anything... lol. Take a good example from SPOON. Their Civic, Integra, and S2000s? they're all redlining over 10K rpm. But of course, the engine has been worked for that. Just takes money, but you can do it.

  • 8500rpm for rx-8

  • It's actually 9.... if you look at the dash on an rx-8 the tachmeter shows a slotted "redline" from 8500 to 9000. From 9000 and higher is a solid redline. That's the indication of a redline. the Slotted marking from 8500 to 9000 is like the older cars that would have the "yellow" marking before the redline.... it's considered the "safety" zone to let you know you're approaching redline, to no over rev and damage the engine. People have already proven the car holds power to 9000 rpm.

  • Redline is where the redline starts.

Maybe you are better off telling me where the RPM cutoff kicks in. Actually, im pretty curious about that so please do tell.

Whether it makes more power or not, you will most likely benefit from reving your engine past redline since lower gears always produce more torque given a single RPM increase. Anyways, its interesting to know that it continues to make power (I presume you're telling me the torque curve continues to maintain delta)

  • Redline is where redline starts.... and redline starts at 9000 rpm. Any car test from TOP GEAR, MOTOR TREND, etc specifies the cars redline as 9000 rpm. Maybe you should understand what a safety zone is. It's there for the driver to be aware they are approaching redline. That's why back in the earlier days certain performance cars had a short yellow line before redline. As a warning. What does Yellow mean on a street light? WARNING changing to redlight.

  • You are also incorrect regarding you'll benefit from revving past redline. Take a Mazdaspeed3/Mazdaspeed6 for example. They achieve no power whatsoever past redline. I do not know if the rx-8 will make power PAST 9000 rpm, I've not heard of that yet. But the redline for an rx-8 is 9000rpm, not 8500.

  • okay, whatever about the redline

Look at a torque curve on most sporty cars.

Power drops off past a certain point.. okay, fine. But take the dropped torque, and multiply it with a gear ration from say.. 1st gear, then compare it with 2nd gear. That is the torque you are getting to the wheels in that gear. If I have two miatas with the exact same torque curve and gear ratios, but one that can rev a bit longer will be faster.

  • Yes I know about power dropping off past a certain point. While all you said was true with the Miatas.... In regards to the RX-8 a lot of the dyno graphs that I've seen (stock and modified cars) the torque curve doesn't really drop off, it ALMOST stays consistent (though not quite) and drops slightly, but not like you see a steep drop from many cars. Not sure if this has to do with the rotary design or not.

  • its probably just a durability problem. The higher you rev the more balanced all the components in the motor need to be. Either that or something like the rotor seals (? right terminology?) wears out too fast after a certain point. Thats good news! sounds like a very tunable engine.

  • Yeah, I really like FD3S rx-7s (the mid 90s models), but I would give my left nut for an RX-8 to have that engine to boost it, to start boosting at 2 or 3k RPM and carry it to 9K RPM? Definitely.

  • Bummer on the a/c and radio. Radios an easy fix, ac not so much. I like the idea for the hard top, Solstice did the same thing and was an improvement, y they made it removable I don't understand, but I'm not a convertible kinda guy. And seeing the s2000 top down sadly always reminds me of the miata so it's nice to see a hard top. Hopefully they'll evolve on this and make a hard top that looks as good but has the features that regular joe shmo, who likes to go fast, would want, a/c, tunes, etc.

  • Oh yeah! Steering ratio has nothing to do with handling. Unless you have an inexperienced driver.

  • Sticky wheels are always good!

  • sucks that it doesnt have AC and radio im rather stick to the original S2k

  • dam i cant wait til im 16 ;]

  • ur gettin this car when u turn 16?

  • either this or a 93 rx-7 and im going to put a veilside body kit on it =D

  • sweet bro, yea i want an 93 rx-7 sooooo bad, you lucky, lol

  • lol too much car for this kid. especially since it will be his first stick shift. it will forever ruin anything else he tries to drive.

  • for all of u who dont like this.. Chuck Norris is going 2 get u..!!

  • Nice car :)

  • this is a nice car

  • i know an asian dude that got this

  • shit

  • "stickier wheels"? Some automotive journalist...last time I checked tires get sticky and wheels support the tires. Unprofessional...

  • Check Again. "A wheel is a circular device that is capable of rotating on its axis". Via this definition, the tire could be part of the so called wheel.

  • The tire and wheel are two entirely separate entities... think about it... a sticky wheel would mean the metal had become tacky and pliable and the wheel would be soft.

A tire is mounted on a wheel. a tire can be separate from a wheel, your definition is not relevant to the conversation. a doughnut is also a circular device capable of rotating on its axis so could this be part of the wheel too?

  • No, but you could use a donut as a wheel, not for a car though. Your analogy is quite awful.

  • I meant a doughnut as in the food, sarcasm seams to have escaped you. Simply put a wheel does not get sticky, a tire does!!!!! It was the improper use of a term; wheels and tires are two vastly different things, deal with it.
