I don't hate Anette, but Nightwish is not Nightwish without Tarja. Anette has a nice rocky voice, but for a gothic band, this is not good enough. I bought the first Album with her and since then stopped listening Nightwish's new songs and following News around the Band.

What I liked about NW was the opera voice of Tarja combined with Metal. That's gone.

I am sorry but most of old Nightwish fans are of the same oppinion.

Regarding Tarja's songwriting - she is not (yet?) at Tuomases level but she much more than compensates with her voice and talent.

Speaking of which, since the split NW relased 2 albums and tarja released 4 (2 rock and 2 classical), that sold gold and platinum in all countries they were released.

So the facts are that Tarja as a solo artist starting from scratch did better than NW altogether.

They have now different singer called Anette Olzon and it is not anymore operatic singing style but normal poppish style. I still like Nightwish. Trouble is they changed arrangement with that intro, drums, rhythm guitar and that dreadful sliding bass (also diabolical guitar solo) - with some awful sounds on it - totally losing subtely and mystery of the original - and also not setting off Tarja's gorgeous voice as it should. And Tarjas wailing in middle doesnt work either. Travesty of the original.
