Hard and dangerous work my great uncle was a 2nd engineer on the Lady jeanette in 1939, and the Trawler went down so he was killed, what a brave man he was as he was given an award for bravery for attempting to save a man in the north sea
@7955jack thanks for your comment. My Grandfather decided to stay on board his trawler when it sank off the coast of Norway. You can read about him by going to my blog at thygeandersenenevoldsen@blogspot.com
Excellent: thanks for the upload: not much has changed on trawlers in 60 yrs. Next time, if you need some background music, let me know: I record my own.
@thegreatlizzy Correct. A side-winder or side trawler versus the more modern and larger factory-owned stern trawler of today. Those old sidewinders were handsome craft with sweeping lines and a form well suited to the roiling waters of the North Atlantic. I like how they often switched sides (supposing they had two or more nets) and trawled on the port side and then at the starboard side to give the other nets a time to be mended or whatnot when they were idle. That's some awesome versatility.
i have to kids at sea but not on trawlers but my lads is at sea on stand by ship in the north sea all best and thank you .
