I know this is realistic but..............the game overall sucks. I don't care about bullet drop and everything like that it just sucks. Not because of how it goes, not because of the graphics (I talk about the pc version of course.....they do suck though) but because the game isn't fun, its boring for the most part. Its rewarding in the end like Battlefield but the game sucks overall.

By the way, I suggest you all check out Arma 3. Unlike Battlefield 3 compared to Battlefield 2, it will keep the components of Arma 2 that made it successful as a sim while adding something that was badly lacking before: Accurate Physics. If Arma2 had BF3 or even BF2 physics it would honestly shit on Battlefield and COD like the Girls from 2 girls one cup shit each other mouths.

You saying that realistic games can't be fun? Have you tried ArmA? It's the amount of teamwork, the massive groups of people that make it fun. Just taking over a stronghold might be a 30-minute job, and after that you get to wait for the evac and such. There's one kind of atmosphere present all the time, not just guns blazing and explosions popping all the time.

I don't know about you, but I like it when video games have more serious elements in them. Why not try and make as realistic "war" game as possible? You can't really simulate the thrauma that war causes through a game, of course, as that would be illegal. But why not prepare people to work in a game or for military through a game?

@camelridingjihad Why couldn't ArmA? The game is very easily scriptable and modifiable. Anything you listed above is possible in ArmA, cleaning and stripping a weapon, well, that's virtually possible.

The engine that ArmA works on is used on programs that (some) militaries use to train their officers to work in according situations... these "programs" are just more "hardcore" versions of ArmA, so yeah you pretty much CAN simulate the "training". You just need people with you.

@BerryBro1 but it's overly complicated and not very well made. Trust me, I played it. It's just buggy. I was playing a mission and spent an enormous amount of time and the mission wouldn't move forward. it was stuck! I had to reload a previous save and that is bullshit.

I actually bought Arma 2: Combined Operations from amazon which comes with Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead. I haven't played in a while so I am not sure about the patch you mentioned.

Tons of new features such as FXAA which make the game run smoother than ever. Most campaign bugs etc are fixed and the AI is indeed "fucking" smart now. (Also take a look at the difficulty settings, if they are low the AI is also weaker)

Military shooters are dead now anyway, they lack everything that a game should be. The story is always piss poor, the gameplay is dull (chest high walls everywhere and spend half the game with your eye glued to an iron-sight), they are never inventive and there is little in the way of challenge (what happened to the challenge of a boss fight? A 'realistic' FPS could never incorporate that).
