  • Cool channel =]

  • What a pleasant song, it even makes me like the little spider, like i wana know its story. :D

  • What a spyder ....

  • dude please name of song :D!!!!!!

  • Awesome

  • Damn nature! You Complex and awe-inspiring!

  • i love ur vids

do u use virtual dub deshaker ?

  • god made this....not evolution

  • @CLASHofTHElonders

    "god made this....not evolution"

Actually, it's a beautiful example of evolution.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer BUT GOD SAID he made everything the way it is and nothing can change it ONLY GOD CAN......time can't change anything and besides evolution say it takes millions of years and the universe is only thousands of years old.......man you are going to hell i feel bad for you :|

  • @CLASHofTHElonders

    "BUT GOD SAID"

Holy shit. Now the creatards even use simple videos of jumping spiders to proselytize.

To the uploader of this video: I am sorry!

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer - Careful, I'm pretty sure you fell for @CLASHofTHElonders trap. He's definitely trolling.

And yes - this certainly is one of the most beautiful displays of evolution and mimicry within nature I can think of.

  • @CLASHofTHElonders if ure not trolling i feel bad for you ;)

  • @aoleutheoriginal lol :)

  • @CLASHofTHElonders i just saw your channel pic XD.

  • @aoleutheoriginal lmfao....i know it's the best i can't remember where i found it but i saw and wanted it for my channel pic

  • @CLASHofTHElonders keep it safe . there are places and sites where it could make wonders :)

  • I get it now, the spider wants to look like an ant, so to attract other ants and catch them to eat!

  • ...What's the purpose of it looking like a jumping spider?

  • @silversurfers7 acctually its a jumping spider it looks like an ant because the vibrant colours probly make it a little less tempting to eat lol thats my guess atleast.

  • Someone just killed the queen .... wonder who? SPY!

  • Ant is Spy!

  • wtf that's a spider? whoaaa master of disguise!

  • I'm extremely anthropomorphic, so I wouldn't be able to stand there like that! Cool spider!

  • @Jader7777 yeah I've seen one of them

I'm unfortunately arachnophobic but interested in spiders (yeah it's FUCKING ironic) so went as close as I dared (2 metres) and the thing ran at me. My heart nearly stopped oh and I had to change my underwear

  • Cool video!! What type of camera are you using for your macro videos?? I'd love to be able to get ''up close and personal'' with my mantis !!

  • that's awesome, first time I ever see one like this. I guess it tricks the ants, so it can get into their nest and eat their larvae

  • Looks somewhat similar to an Australian Hoppy Joe. You don't want to macro that though, they're very aggressive.

  • that spider had sex wif a ant? to make this lmao

  • friggin amazing me wants some spider ant thingy....hah just kidding i want five

  • "Ant-mimicking" really is an apt name for this little cutie. She moves just like an ant, but when I saw those eyes, I knew she was a spider.

  • Iooks Iike a ant

  • Is there a variety of these living in midwest america? 3 times now I have tried to kill something on the door of my house that looks like a black carpenter ant, yet it gets away from me and starts sliding down the door on its webbing. At that point I consider it too cool to kill so I let it go <.<

  • Lovely video but I also love the comments here.

  • I have photografed this spider with my 105mm vr nikkor. Awesome looking spider!!

  • What a comedian! She deserves the price of the best interpretation :)

  • Really amazing that a creature could evolve to take on traits like this, isn't it? :O

  • that's the definition of a poser

  • Awesome vid and love the macro pics at the end! If you don't mind, what camera did u use to film and take the pics? thanks =)

  • o thx alot, i looooooooooove those ant mimic jumping spiders, here they are called Synageles spc

  • anybody seen mimmic?

  • Wow thats awesome :D

  • can you please tell me who did the music?

  • its movements look more wasp like to me

  • My eyes hurt from trying to capture that spider with my eyes x_x

I was trying to see how many pairs of legs there are all the time 8|

  • question is why would a spider look and move like an ant?

  • @freddiecel The answer might be beyond the scope of your understanding and the space provided by this comment box. But I'll say this: Nothing is nature happens without a reason. Nothing. Everything is very purposeful.

  • i had that on my leg once..i think i peed my selve when i saw it 0.0

  • Nice close-ups, arachnids are just so fascinating to obersve, may suggest maybe providing a commentary about this species of arachnid (or any). You should gets yours hands on a camel spider (order: Solifague) very interesting Wind Scorpion.

  • lol 69 likes stopped me from liking this video but atleast i didnt dislike =D

  • Nice video! What camera did you use to take the last two pics?

  • Now thats something I've not seen before.

Ant mimiking a spider very good.

Simular to catapillar acting like pit viper.

Natures disguises very useful in combat.

  • The form of its body dose look like an ant, but the way it moves is much like a spider.

  • for every one who keeps counting only six legs =)

look at the antennas and you will find number 7 and 8 hahaha

  • AMAZING...

  • You know, text-squares with random facts, would be appreciated. Or perhaps audio commentary?

Love these little clips. I have a bit of an ambivalent relationship with spiders. I really admire them and I actually think that they are some of natures most marvelous creations... But they still creep me out, physically. It's a shame, really.

  • ants are noobs.

  • @thejordanwinant hahahaha i LOL so hard at your comment xD just caught me off guard hahahaha

  • This is amazing! I never even knew such a thing existed... Really amazing how the abdomen is "segmented" to give the illusion of a thorax. And the way it moves even looks like an ant. I wonder if ants are the primary prey for these guys? Or if not, then why the adaptation?

  • @WhistlersBrother ants are one of there main prey items i believe =)

  • @MGSDORITO That would make sense... Imagine the horror if you were the ant.

"Bob? Hey can you help me over here with this piece of leaf? Bob? AAAAAHHH WTF--YOU'RE NOT BOB!!!!"

    Nom nom nom...

  • @WhistlersBrother hahahahaha i can actually picture it in my head hahaha

  • @WhistlersBrother As far as I know, the ant mimicking jumping spiders are the only spiders that will eat ants. The majority of spiders won't eat ants because ants have formic acid which kills spiders, but the ant mimickers can take on the ants and eat them without being poisoned. I heard this on some other video, so I hope I'm right on this info.

  • I have a video of a jumping spider I caught in my apartment, they have such quick movements.

  • Why haven't I evolved so I can mimic an elephant... This spider is so lucky.

  • Wow it had me fooled till I looked closely at the head and counted the legs to make sure it was a spider. Well done, Mother Nature.

  • this was my face the whole time @o@ xD

  • oh, oh, can it do a kangaroo?

  • I love the music you choose for your vids. Its perfect!

  • another "wow" to your videos. I didnt even know there were spiders that look like ants!

    Great vid man!

  • lol i hate posers . xD .

  • i could never see a jumping spider..

i used to see them all the times when i was younger.. but now i dont see them at all :o!

  • Now, does it actually fool ants, asking this because of all the scents and what-not ants give off, to lazy to spell the long word ;)

  • note how it looks like it has anntenas and has only six leggs, well, the anntenas actually are the legs, AMAZING, this must took millions of years of evolution to develope!

  • He had me fooled. I know how painful a sting is from a red ant, wouldn't mess with this one. But a closer look, yep, impersonating an officer ant, in the brig with you.

  • coz it has 6 legs would it still be an arachnid ?

  • @chrisboi08 It has 8 legs. Two are flailing around to act like antennas.

  • @klagge oh yh, didnt realy notice xD ty

  • @chrisboi08 it actually has all eight, two of them flail to look like anntenas

  • amazong!

  • I *adore* the little black eyespots! <3

  • why the hell would a spider mimic to ant? Nothing I know of would tend to predate on spiders rather than ants.(swarming excepted) And the ants aren't fooled so.....

  • @1HumanKind I'm just guessing that not only does it look like an ant but it most likely uses a pheromone to make ants think it's one of their own.

  • that's not a spider, it's an ant with glasses on

  • How bizarre yet amazing. It is a spider, how can an organism arrange itself genetically to imitate another? The mysteries of nature, Hummm.

  • mimikri

  • wannabe ant lol

  • Where was this vid taken?

  • hahaha this is great!

  • looks more like an ant

  • That's really clever how the 2nd set of legs pretend to be antennae.

  • @yoshisuniverse Please tell me that was a joke lol

  • hmm if the black part of the spider doesnt seem to leave any chemical residue when its walking unlike an ant so i really think its a spider

  • it only has six legs?

  • @costanza1231 It has eight, the two legs in the front only look like antennae.

  • If you don't think that's a spider, count it's legs. ;)

  • Peckhamia : "Gentlemen...."

    SPY SAPPIN' MAH SENTRY!!!!

  • it's a spider that mimics ants, so it can more easily catch and eat them

  • Haha, whatever it is, it sure is cool! Cool music too. He's really getting the star treatment here, sure he'd appreciate it. ;)

  • @ AnotherSchmoe

This particular animal is a female, not a male.

  • incredible O.O

    song's name?

  • nature is really clever

  • or maybe they have 360 degree view around them.

  • I know little about spiders so tell me if I'm wrong but it Iooks to me that maybe the two smaller circles at the sides are it's actual eyes and the two bigger circles in the center are for extra sensory input, things...

  • i thought it was an ant and i got confused with all these comments then i saw its eyes and i was like oooh yeah!

  • definately a peckhamia picata

  • Why that sneaky little bastard! XD

I like how its front legs dance around like antennae. XD CUTE!

  • That's crazy, it looks like an ant and even runs around stupid-like like an ant. Most spiders don't even move much.

  • @kmb85o

Its imitating a specific kind of spider that has a very signiature style of movement.

Jumping spiders -- Portea especially -- put their front legs up and move in short rapid bursts like robots.

  • is that a spider? looks like a ant to me :/

  • @omgomg113 - Ha, yes - it's a jumping spider from the genus Peckhamia. Take a look at the final photo in the video !

  • @terser They sneak into and nests and eat ants. The ants thing it's an ant and leave it alone.

  • Yup. Eight legs. The front two are hard to see, since it moves so fast, but they're there.

  • @omgomg113

    count the legs....

  • @omgomg113 u can tell spider and bugs away be counting legs spiders = 8 bugs =6 this spider mimics ants and catches them =) hope this helps =)

  • @omgomg113 You have to pay attention to the hyphen in the title! It is "Ant-mimicking" and NOT

"Ant mimicking". I didn't catch it at first. Initially, I thought that this was an ant. Wild.

  • @omgomg113 Conte o número de pernas. Existe uma diferença.

  • @omgomg113 yes you can just about the 2 eyes around the back of its head

  • I love it's spectacles.

  • What song is this?

  • wow, thats cool. looks just like a stinging ant. Nature is crazy!

  • Wow...

  • wow - awesome trick - look lot like ant

  • Funny, I have a species of jumping spider that mimics velvet ants red-and-black coloring to fool predators. Very cute. I'd get some of these if I found any breeders on arachnoboards.

  • She's cute.

  • That's pretty damn cool.

  • WOW! At first I thought this was an ant species mimicking a spider but it's actually the other way around?

  • I am amazed at how mother nature works. It is as if someone designed this spider-ant in a disney studio or something. Even the abdomen looks segmented into two pieces eventhough it is just one. The two front legs are tiny to mimic the antennas. Trully remarkable creature.

  • i love this song it sounds amazing the spider look amazing you should try to find a golden orb weaver to video

  • One of these little guys visited a table I was cleaning at my job (I'm a sanitation supervisor at Six Flags America in Largo, MD.)

  • This is a female Myrmarachne sp. The fight between 2 males is a sight to see. They open up the front fangs and lock them in combat.

  • I'm not sure, but I'm leaning towards Peckhamia picata on this little one.

I would love to see 2 male ant-mimics fight - I wonder if I could arrange it...

  • You may be right! Peckhamia sp. are found in the US!

  • @terser I saw a black one whilst staying in my parents house in spain. It was crawling across a window and I was just fascinated by it for about 30 minutes till it went off in search of food.

  • that's amazing! and the video is pretty good too!

    ;)
