That's a awesome mod... Full-size American cars haven't come with a manual option for decades (why? I don't know) so it's awesome to see a more modern full-size American car with a manual! I bet it throws people off when they get into your car for the first time... I plan to do something similar over the next year or so, but I was thinking of using a 6 speed... although I'm thinking now that what you've done would be easier, so I might just do what you've done...

@theranter In fact I pictured a Tremec T-56 or TR-6060 as the ideal gearbox for the Crown Vic, as it will bolt up to the V8-4.6 sans adapters; just requires different firmware in the ECM and 4.10 gears (as most Crown Vics curb at 2 tons, the P71 and P72 slightly heavier yet due to severe-service frame and body mods). Just don't know whether Ranger, Mustang or F-150 pedals work best this body design.

I don't know why some people say the crown victoria isn't powerful. I test drove a p71 this past week and I was amazed how powerful it was. Peppy is an understatement. Of course, it was my first time driving a car with a v8 :D

@SuperMan88Strong : You have more air with the better exhaust and intake, but your computer doesn't know why more air is present. So it thinks something is wrong and adjusting the air/fuel ratio needs a good tune. You probably need a a wide band O2 sensor and a shop that can flash the computer with the new engine map.

You should get the steering column cover off a Crown Vic Sport, Grand Marquis LSE, or Marauder...the dash clusters on those also eliminated the P R N D gear indicator

i had a mercury grand marquis for 9 years that car was amazing. no oil change no maintence and still ran. for 9 years the engine starting to show some wear and tear i sadly had to get rid of it. love the mercury grand marquis. freind of mine had a police interceptor and that car can run. its to bad that ford is goin to discontinue the ford crown vic. they could of restyled that car. its long overdue. noooo them sons of bitches want to go with ford taurus for the new interceptor.

Hey, I have a 2000 Grand Marquis. I want to use a mustang manual transmission, and I want to take the Police interceptor headers and chip and put that on my car, then I want to do a duel exhaust. How much roughly you think this will cost just in parts alone? And did you get your trans from a cobra with like a 6 speed? Or like a V6 5 speed? The Grand Marquis has a 4.6 V8 just so ya know.

the headers are exactly the same and you will need a tune in order to make the tranny work and the tune will be as good as the police pcm.

@arcticmsrock the rule of thumb when swaping gears is to go two step above your current gears if you really want to see the difference.

ex: 2.73 to 3.27 3.08 to 3,55 3.27 to 3.73 3.55 to 4.10
