I'm almost 40 yrs old and I've had a few encounters with law enforcement (like most people). A little politeness and basic courtesy was all I ever needed. You don't have to act worshipful, just show a basic level of human respect and you'll be surprised how well things turn out.

I'm a police officer.We are not out to get you,but we have a VERY stressful job.Sometimes I treat some diff. than others,but it depends on the situation.If I just left a scene where an innocent person was killed in a robbery,and I pull you over and you illegaly carrying a weapon,of course I will treat you differently,or if I just left a child that OD'd and I pull you over and you have drugs, how do you expect me to react?We are humans just like you.Love the show Sgt.

The last time I got pulled over by a copper (four years ago) it was at night. I did exactly what I was supposed to do.

1. I shut off my truck.

2. I turned on my hazards.

3. I turned on my dome light.

4. I placed my hands on the steering wheel.

Guess what? I showed the officer respect, and all I got was a warning for going 15 miles over the limit.

Be nice. It ain't that hard. Cops got a shit job that I couldn't do.

Yes, they deserve all the respect they can get. They don't get paid enough, people usually aren't happy to see them, they never know what the day is going to be like, and gang banging fuckheads are running wild as politicians deny gangs are a problem.
