The Ottoman Empire decided to align themselves with Germany. Ultimately, The British-led forces won the War and gained the Ottomans Land. (British Controlled the Land. British Controlled the Land.) Actually, those two events occurred simultaneously. However, while the media attributed Israel's response to the kidnapping, Israel's response resulted from the bombardment. Israel would have negotiated rather than fought in response to just a kidnapping.

Prior there was more concern with defend interests in the Persian Gulf particularly against the USSR. I thought to add that you need to read some military history including the 1991 Gulf War where our forces in a tank battle annhilated the Iraqis. Arab armies, pilots, etc. as of other 3rd world countries are poorly trained and usually worthless. That's why the Arabs got their butts kicked and Israel lost forces mostly due to accidents rather than to combat. Same with ours. Again, read some history and stop wasting my time.
