my cousin has this game, i played it at his house and the controls felt really unresponsive

then he gave me an extra copy and when i played it at my house it worked really super smooth and the controls were really tight

Why do you mean by "sticky"? They shouldn't be. In fact, I find the control to be pretty tight myself. Though getting the spin to execute flawlessly depends on where you have the Sensor Bar sometimes.
