  • My friend JD was in Philly during this time and I believe she was a jazz type singer who had no idea this would hit #1 on the disco chart!

  • I love disco!! makes me happy.

  • So glad I found it. I have gone back several "lifetimes".

  • what can about this song, let me tell you, i was fifteen yrs old with my best friend getting high and listening to this song in the park, dancing our asses off, those were the days

  • This song was made after a therapy because of Karen's drug addiction. She had to SHOUT OUT LOUD!

  • There was another song from back then using this same music but I can't remember the name of it. It was a male group and the chorus went "Groooooova.... (and then something something) salsa." Anyone know what I' talkin' about?

  • This shit is HOT....Takes me back to summer of 78 growing up in the Bronx!!!

  • BAAAAAAAAA BAYBAYBAYBAYBAYBAYBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! KAREN YOUNG WAS HOT HOT HOT

  • @Cynbad1957 Ooh baby baby baby baby baby won't you feel it in my soul

You know that I need me my shot....Never ever will there be music like this.....

    Baaaaby Baaaby Baaaby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you @dfhawk000 for the memories with this SUPERB upload..!!!! **********

  • @2009Denisem YOU SAID IT SOUL SISTER/THIS SURE WAS A CLUB SMASH HIT!!

  • This song is so hot it just brings back alot of memories.

  • DAMN,THIS IS SMOKIN HOT.I'M SWEATIN EVERYWHERE.

  • HELL YEAH DAFT PUNK!

  • Fast feet and back flips on the dance floor...thats what this inspired...I did it. Was there. And my life is better for it. Thanks Karen. And thanks @dfhawk000

  • WHIOO HOO YEAH. Get it boyz. I need me my hot shot. Girlfriend was talkin jizz before you could sing it. BOOGIE TIL YOU PUKE MARY.

  • Great voice. Sadly one of the glorious On Hit Wonders of the late 1970's. I can see myself getting down(and sometime dirty) on the dance floor. Oh, to be there again!!!!

  • SHE'S WHITE??????? Damm she's got SOUL!

  • @darthmal Imagine that. White folks with soul. Where you been ? Under a rock?

  • @darthmal Undeed, and well past her youth, yet, she opened up the disco scene, nopt bad for a woman regarded as a MILF in todays wotld. To me, always a 'Cougar'. RIP Karen, You opened the road, and to so many things :-)

  • WOW I LOVE THIS TRACK SHE WAS AHEAD OF HER TIME, THE BEAT IS HOT. THE BIRTH OF HIP HOP

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !

  • Esta mujer hizo una sola cosa bien... CANTAR!, mucha voz, nada que ver con las "divas" de hoy dia... viva el disco!

  • Miss Karen Young, the pride of Philadelphia

  • This song was co-written by the DJ at Philadelphia's DCA Club, which was the most incredible place - the model Gia Carangi (played by Angelina Jolie in the movie "Gia") used to hang out there (before she went to NYC). Can still remember all the guys with the jeans tucked into boots; the short hair; army cargo pants with pockets all over them, tight Lacoste polo shirts - when we all went to see Saturday Night Fever we were like - huh?? Who would dance or dress like that???

  • TO BONGO46, MY GOODNESS!!!! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE PERFECT WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS CLASSIC!!

  • Theres such a sense of urgency about this tune...

  • I could use a Hot Shot right now...

  • danced the night away in southends zero 6 canveys goldmine scamps as well

  • "I'm not tired of burning, it makes me REAL hot"!! Doesn't get any better than this! God what a time. EVERYONE WAS ON THE DANCE FLOOR! This was on a par with Gaynor's "I Will Survive". Long live disco (it never "died" they just changed its name to "techno") lol!

  • @Shubael1809 you mean HOUSE MUSIC? Techno was more influenced by Kraftwerk and p-funk.

  • @beatles5445 Techno was a spawn of house (and there's NOTHING P-funky about techno - maybe some of the earlier techno) House music has more of a black influence, thus, it is more soulful (gospel roots) and the beats are funkier than in techno ...but really, disco is a commercialized term ...all that disco is is a more synthesized, faster-tempo form of FUNK music, that is diluted of social content/message ...But disco aint funk, and house aint disco, and techno aint house - just extensions

  • @beatles5445 No. I don't mean HOUSE MUSIC. Punk had zero influence on Techno. Disco had the largest. They basically needed simply to call it something else so all the straight fuck males could say "Disco's dead". After all we can't have all the hot women loving the gay boys more than than the straight misfits now can we? Morons.

  • @Shubael1809 where did you get "punk" from? I said P-funk, which stands for George Clinton's parliament-funkadelic.

  • @beatles5445 I don't care. "Techno" is nothing but a substituted name for modernized (often sleeker and more synthesized) Disco to satisfy ignorant heterosexual men. Disco was better but Techno is DANCE MUSIC no matter how you slice it for clubs in that identical way (and in many forms identical inception) that Disco was.

  • @Shubael1809 Isn't it funny that the day disco died and all the discoteques were torn down, their immediate replacements were "dance music" and "dance clubs"? There hasn't been a single second since disco "died" that dance music hasn't been an everyday reality for America-right up to now...Lady GaGa? And don't forget the world of remixes, extended versions, 12"'s, cd singles, etc. Everyday stuff now, even on mainstream radio. Disco died? My ass, it did. Dumb ass rock and rollers!

  • @louspintoo More than "funny" it was a purposeful RUSE on the part of insecure heterosexual men that Disco was somehow "fag" music. They had to rename it so they could continue to go out with women who'd only go to what can only be called DISCOTEQUES in order to enjoy themselves. So who loses out? GAY MEN! Fuck that shit. Remember when we first read "Disco Sucks"? "Dumb ass rock and rollers" for sure!! ;-)

  • @Shubael1809 I love everything you've pointed out. I'll only add a big thank you to Freddy Mercury, Elton John, and especially metal god Rob Halford (among others, but I'm referring to some old timers here) for coming out (especially Mercury, who came out while suffering with AIDS) and showing the homophobes they've been rocking out to queers all along. In fact, with the recent sad passing of Ronnie James Dio, it could be argued that the greatest living metal vocalist is now Halford-a gay man.

  • @Shubael1809 ALL YOU SAY IS RIGHT !!TELL IT LIKE IT IS!!!!

  • 0:06....Hear it?

  • Hott

  • Pouces vert si toi aussi tu est la Graçe a Daft Punk

    =)

  • love it,love it!!!!!!

  • BAM ! RIP Karen Young

  • 1981 people were still hustling in and outside of nyc to this. It was more advance than the basic hustle

  • As I remember, this is the very first "freestyle" song in NY to come out. No one was dancing the hustle seriously anymore. At La Plage in the Hamptons people were doing this jumping dance to it, which was similar to today's.

  • this was one of my favorites. From '74-'78 I was out dancing all night, first at Enchanted Gardens, Infinity, jouisance, elephas, Limelight, some after hours clubs...top floor? Fire Island, Key West and San Francisco. so long ago. But I think I was sort of done with it by the time they opened Studio. Went a few times but then I moved on. But loved reading all your comments- thanks for reminding me of Cerrone Supernature. Wonderful to dance all night. thanks guys!

  • To ToFelt - The song you are looking for is "Loving is Really my Game" by Brainstorm (1977)

  • another one: can someone HELP, PLEASE. old school disco. great energy. female singer. the lyrics go something like: I CANT GET NO MAN, HANGING OUT AT THE DISCOTEQUE. I BELIEVE IN THE BOOGIE, BUT THE BOOGIE DONT. can someone give me the real title. is it on youtube? THANKS. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • @tofelt ...the song is called "Loving Is Really My Game" by Brainstorm. You can get it on CD as it is on the 54 Movie Soundtrack Vol 2. it can be ordered from Amazon... good luck trying to find the original 12" as it goes for about $75.00 (if you can find one in the US-most of them are overseas for a lot more).

  • @dmc0724 GOD bless you!!! THANK YOU so much for your time!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • @tofelt You too! BTW it's here on you tube as well!

  • This special version gave the song such an incredible lift. It was already a great song but THIS version is the one DJs played back in the day. I remember Funhouse and Garage days...and a bunch of other defunct clubs that are legendary for the songs they played. Back then CLUBS broke songs. The DJs were bold souls for playing such cutting edge sounds. I'mma bring it back for you though. Watch and see-you'll remember this comment. ;)

  • @spinradiofm Where you at the Garage when she performed this? One of my favorite nights ever.

  • @VideoMusicManiac I was there, ur right, it was a great night and performance

  • WOW! I heard a tune that sounded like Supernature by Cerrone. Found it and Hotshot was one of the recommendations. I had forgotten about this great song. Thanks!

  • This song was out when I was a young pre teen. It was a time when I though everyone over 18 were corny, and didn't understand the world. I just love dancing to it, and watching the young adults act like it meant so much to them, than just mere beats and words.

The first time I heard it was in the soundtrack of the movie "Reversal of Fortune"; just a piece of it. Then, my girlfriend had it in a disco-compilation CD. I finally found out who sung it and the name of the song. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS SONG ON YOUTUBE!

  • @schnertblatt

    Hello:

I do remember the scene from that movie. What struck me is that they dancing this dico song in very tuxedos and formal gowns. Good use for that movie.

  • @hollafied

Yes, I think the people dancing in formal attire in the background while Sunny and Klaus have that discussion is great. Great movie, as well as great song.
