  • Orangutans are NOT monkeys. I dont think its racist but they need to change the Orangutan to a monkey bc Orangutans are NOT monkeys,

    ORANGUTANS ARE GREAT APES !!!

  • I just watched the commericial....and then I thought...I bet someone is online saying that commerical was racist....then viola!!...I guess you could say they have an argument if they wanted to use what is already a racist stereotype to say that the imagery of whites only getting their hair done by whites and them going to school with predominately white communities....which is true in some parts of the south, Atlanta is a somewhat segregated city.....they would have been better to avoid monkeys

  • HOW THE HELL IS THIS RACIST? The only way this is racist is if you think Black people are witless monkeys. And if you think that then...who's racist?

  • this commercial still plays in atlanta and i'm glad it does. you people are a bunch of race pimps and instigators. seriously how many times do you see white people and conservatives cry about racism? never because the left and minorities are the most racist people around

  • they had to say AND ON TIME!! lol

  • I'm a 44 year old white male who is from Georgia and lives in Atlanta. From the very first time I saw this commercial, it struck me as racist. I've seen it a lot since then, wondering if I could be misinterpreting it and if it could be interpreted in a non-racist way. So, I thought I'd see if it was on YouTube and see if anyone else had noticed it. Apparently I'm not alone. This is racist. I usually think people are overly sensitive about things, but I can't see this as anything but racist.

  • @TheDougBond you are white and you think this is racist? i'm guessing that you are a liberal and you are obviously a fool

  • @endwelfare I'm white, I'm a liberal on some issues, but I'm not a fool. My IQ is 174. I just happen to not be a racist, despite being raised in rural Georgia. I have good parents who aren't hicks. Don't blame me for your ignorance.

  • @TheDougBond well actually you are the racist one for comparing monkeys to black people. no where does it mentions blacks or africans in the commercial. so you assume that blacks and monkeys are one in the same. You Sir Are Racist

  • @endwelfare I'm not the one comparing black people with monkeys. I live in the south, and if you do live in the south, you know that racist people make that comparison all the time. I don't want to argue with you about this. As I originally said, I had to keep asking myself if it was just me, or was this commercial actually racist. I have since spoken to some people who know the people in this company and THEY said they thought it was racially motivated, because they knew those people.

  • @TheDougBond They also said that the company did shitty work, by the way.

  • @TheDougBond so what is racist about this commercial then? if you didn't draw the conclusion between a monkey and black people then what made you think it was racist? i'm just trying to understand how a person with 172 IQ comes up with this

  • @endwelfare Because I know how many of the people in the south think. I know plenty of people who honestly think that they're not racist, but they are. It's a mindset and a subtle use of imagery and certain words. The people who made this commercial obviously used that to send a message without directly saying it out loud. If someone complains, they can just say that they were making a play on the term monkey wrench, even though that makes no sense in the context of this commercial.

  • I know they werent purposely trying to be racist, but they definitely should have take in consideration the obvious context this commercial could be seen in, especially in the south.

  • Monkeys are forming an organization against primate-hating. Congress WILL pass a law against this horrendous epidemic as many of them are monkeys themselves.

  • There is nothing racist about this commercial, unless you expect backlash from primates, jeeez, VERY touchy people out there who just assume, THOSE are the racists....

  • that is fuckin tosh.o shit right there

  • WOW really everything is racist. Please do the world a favor if you saw that racist. GET A JOB ASSHOLES

  • i don't think its racist, but i do think they were stupid for not expecting backlash

  • Just saw this commercial, thought it was racist, googled it and this is what I came across. Im glad i'm not the only person that feels this way. And I live in Atlanta.

  • @bitchyousuck02 your an idiot and a race bater there is nothing racist about this commercial

  • Yea im from Califooornia also I just got here a month ago and I was thinking the same thing I guess the people here is soft because that want fly in killer Cali

  • I see that they are making a play on the old saying "monkey with a wrench in reference to a poor plumber. However, they should do enough research into knowing that phrase is rooted in racist ideology of the inferiority of the performance of black workers and connected to a derogatory term. Perception versus intent is the problem. Were they trying to be racist? Probably not. Does it come across as racist? I sure as hell thought so when I saw it air.

  • Totally felt some kinda way after watching this. lol

  • I do not see racism in this commercial because monkeys have stringy hair and no lips.

  • HEY ALL YOU STUPID FUCKS.. you know what would be racist if they said " you wouldnt trust a black person to teach your children so why trust black people to fix your plumbing" you fucking morons if you look hard enough for something you will find it just like people find pictures of jesus christ in a piece of toast you people find racism in everything. STOP BEING BABIES

  • I see no racism here.

  • But are they dependable and do good work? Are they members of the Better Business Bureau?

  • @invertedmedia IT has nothing to do about that. Calling someone a monkey is unjustifiable. We may not act that way anymore. But that doesn't mean ppl should eat this load of garbage. Commercials like this one sets bad examples for younger generations. Plus, although i do agree the Race card is used way too much. These kind of commercial should not go unchecked, regardless of how trivial it may seem.

  • Whoa you guys are too freaking sensitive. The whole punch line was "Would you trust a monkey with a wrench?" Get it Monkey wrench? Google Monkey wrench its a tool used by plumbers. Your all just too sensitive and getting the wrong idea.

  • I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY 1 WHO THOUGHT THIS COMMERCIAL IM FROM CALIFORNIA ANDF I MOVED TO GEORGIA IN MARCH AND THIS WAS THE 1ST COMMERCIAL I SAW AND WAS LIKE THATS RACIST AS FUCK GLAD TO SEE I AINT THA ONLY 1 WHO THOUGHTSO

  • @YuNgSmAsH100 go back to CA you liberal idiot. you are not welcome here

  • I don't really care but as everyones complaining about this being racist because they used a monkey, isn't it sexist! Where are all the lady plumbers... damn sexists! lol.

  • I'm really not seeing the racism? I'm just seeing a plumbing commercial pointing out that most plumbers are chimps! :-D But i am British! lol. Anti racism people of the world... chill, not everything has to be racist just because you want it to be so you have something to ruin your day with! ;-) It's just a monkey!

  • Its hard to see this as racist or offensive when uve never experienced it. This first time I saw this it rubbed me the wrong way as well, I'm like the other guy superior plumbing can eat a dick

  • ...and last time I checked, wasn't the KKK a "Christian" group? (referenced by their website kkk.com) Tagging someone as a "Christian" means absolutely nothing. It meant nothing when slaves were brought to America against their will... It means nothing when you call yourself a "Christian" and don't live by the principals that Jesus taught.

  • I am not a person who looks at everything as being racist but this commercial rubs me the wrong way. To me, it has a racial undertone. Why would a monkey fix your plumbing? The whole basis for this commercial makes no sense...unless of course by "monkey" you mean something else. Also, the name of the company (Superior) and all the references to the Superior workers being "bright" and "on time" just add to the racist innuendo.

  • Can't help but notice all those in favor of this being "racist" have such a vile and filthy vocabulary... using such vulgar language to make a point pretty much identifies the base mentality from which these false accusations stem. Superior Plumbing is the sponsor of the Atlanta Braves. Jay Cunningham is a fine Christian man and his wife and children are some of the most outstanding people in our community.

  • Just because of this... I PLAN TO REFER EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW to SUPERIOR PLUMBING!!!! They are #1 in ATLANTA and will soon be #1 in GEORGIA!!

  • Jay Cunningham is a personal friend. I taught his kids...and this family is NOT RACISTS BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.... Clearly some people will go to great lengths to see things as "RACISTS".... I think people of all ethnic backgrounds have grown very tired of all this "racist" rhetoric.... The word has such little meaning because of the abuse .... like in this YOU TUBE post.... I think you should take this down and apologize to the CUNNINGHAM family!

  • You would never trust a nigger to do your hair , and you would never trust a nigger to watch your kids , so why would you trust a nigger to do your plumbing, LMAO White folks are funny as hell , Superior plumbing eat a dick !

  • Comment removed

  • it's racist if you consider yourself a "Monkey". The Dumb asses who made this comercial knew better though. No common Sense what so ever. And if they claim sane, this comercial wouldnt even been made.

  • I'm black but i think it's racist and funny lol. No need to get mad about it. I just wouldn't call them to help me with my plumbing.

  • If Superior Plumbing wanted to imply any racism, they would have used a black chimpanzee, not an orange orangutan. The etymology of the phrase, "It's so simple, even a monkey can do it" dates back thousands of years. Blacks used the phrase in Africa just as Asians did in Southeast Asia...where there are monkeys. Though an orangutan is no a "monkey", it is easier to train and handle for a commercial that requires "human-like" characterization. Nothing is racist about the commercial.

  • You people ever hear of a "monkey wrench"? Used by every plumber.

  • MANNNNNNNNNNNNN FUCK JESSE JACKSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL , THIS COMMERCIAL IS RACIST AS FUCK BY THE WAY

  • I don't like the exploitation of apes in this way, whether the company's intentions are racist or not, and that's all the reason I need to never do business with these people. And it only reinforces the ignorance of people who see a juvenile orangutan but still call it a "monkey."

  • racist towards monkeys? im confused

  • Comment removed

  • This video is filmed with a potato

  • This commercial is racist racist racist! And even the name is racist! Superior?! They know what they are doing! Why use a monkey? Fcuk superior plumbing! Hope they fall ass first on a plunger handel

  • I see nothing racist about it.

    Stop whining.

  • i know the owners of this. its not racist you dumb asses. its saying you wouldnt let someone who isnt experienced doing stuff that you would want done....all you people jump to conclusions so quick

  • I didn't think it was racist....i just thought it was funny :OO

  • The primate in this ad, an orangutan, is native to southeast Asia. Therefore, they aren't really making fun of Black plumbers- they're making fun of Asian plumbers. Not that making fun of Asians is okay or anything.

  • @SEHANO no it is not relevant where they are from because having monkeys in asia does not mean the asians are monkeys, just like having a dog does not make you a dog. However black people have been referred to as monkeys and have the same skin color as them

  • Do these fools know anyone who is stupid enough to even attempt to use a monkey to do their plumbing? If not, they OBVIOUSLY were NOT referring to monkeys when they advise people not to use them for plumbing. If someone was that retarded, then the advise would make sense. These people are OBVIOUSLY equating someone in the plumbing business with monkeys. No need to play dumb about this; and if you don't get it, you're not PLAYING DUMB; YOU REALLY ARE!

  • i didnt see anything thats racist agains niggers.. i mean its a monkey.. not jerome.. they are just saying that other companies monkey around.. where does it mention Coons.. you guys try to make everything racial.. ask a real jiggaboo see what he thinks..

  • @AngryAtTechnology75 Seriously? If you are, you're an ignorant motherfucker. If not, your sense of humor is shit.

  • If your that sensitive do us all a favor and take your life. The monkey was used as a idiot not as a racist joke your just wrapped up and stupid.

  • Initially, I thought only about the idea not wanting someone incompetent doing your plumbing. I get that is the message of the commercial. Still, on a certain level, it makes me feel some kind of way when it comes on. I just think that it was careless to use a monkey (which it's been theorized that black people come from). Why not use something else that won't possibly offend a whole race of people? All I know is that when I have plumbing problems, I'm going to Rotor Rooter (Real Talk)

  • i don't see how it's being racist but whatever.

  • Watch DJ Eboogie smoke dope from a highlighter here on YouTube and decide for yourself about her character.

  • This commercial is SO racist!! I'm a white dude and yeah, I think this is taking it too far. Seriously? How could you make this commercial and not think about the racial implications? I would never use this businesses service because of this stupid commercial.

  • This is clever use of branding, very similar to Findlay Roofing using a dog in their advertisements. It makes the customer say, "Oh yeh the plumbing company with the monkey, I know them." I see no references toward racism other than the guys who are leaving comments on this video. If you are so caught up in your own bs that you really believe they are being racist because there is an orangutan in there commercial, please give up on life and stop making excuses for your ignorance.

  • This commercial isn't racist. Everyone who says it is, is more racist than the commercial. You're automatically assuming that because there's a monkey it must represent a black guy. Well couldn't it represent someone who just doesn't know what theyre doing? Pfft, what? Noooo thats just ridiculous. (sarcasm btw)

  • I saw this shit on tv and looked it up and it brought me here this shit RACIST lol

  • I live in GA, and I approve of this commercial!

  • Another case of AmeriKKKa's subliminal racism.

  • You have validated my opinion ... I was like.. WTF? Real sneaky with it though right? smh.. times never change... we have come a long way though.. its almost funny

  • I'm black and I lol'd this considering monkey's are very intelligent. What the monkey can do is take that wrench and shove right up mister superiors plumbing. A lil humor goes a long way.

  • That's not even a monkey - it's a chimpanzee

  • AHAHA god thats great i love it i get the humour it means u wouldnt let a retard to date ur daughter dont be so emotional people :P

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one who flinched and wtf'ed HARD whenever this shit came on, lmao! It's so obvious. SO OBVIOUS.

  • ive been seeing these commercials for the past couple of months and the first them that comes to my mind is they're being racist. So tonight I seen a new one where the monkey is at the door and the dude says u wouldnt let a monkey take your daughter out on a date....... so i say what the fuck then i google it and find that im not the only one thinking they are racist.

  • It's just a joke.....I can't believe how sensitive niggers have become since they stopped getting whipped

  • Wait, so everybody that thinks this is racist thinks that black people are monkeys which makes YOU racist

  • Yeah, this commercial is pretty racist. Large black community in GA and they're talking about "you wouldn't want a monkey to..." The thing is, if it's not intentionally racist, it comes pretty darn close so why even run the risk? They could have used any other symbol in the world, literally ANY other symbol but they chose to stick with a monkey. I'm surprised there's not a bigger outcry about this.

  • "You wouldn't want a monkey styling your hair. And you wouldn't want a monkey driving your kids to school. So why have a monkey do your plumbing?" Enter white man approaching suburban development: "Superior Plumbing is professional, blah blah" (to be honest, I couldn't hear what else was said through the maniacal laughter inside my head, until) "Why have a monkey with a wrench do your plumbing?"

I beg the question: Are we racist for perceiving racist undertones?

  • Comment removed

  • lol, i have to listen to that every day

  • I just recently moved to Georgia and the first time I saw this commercial I viewed it as racist. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I just saw it on tv a moment ago and thought, it's got to be on youtube. This is terrible. They don't ever have to worry about getting my money, for sure.

  • To be fair I don't want a black person doing any of those things either

  • I am a white dude and I totally agree they are hinting at blacks in these commercials. I just saw another one come on, so I Googled 'superior plumbing racist' and found this.

Listen.. the reason I think it IS racist is because most of these successful family businesses in the south have very bigoted owners and workers.

If they would show just one black guy working for them in their ads, it would shut people up. I bet they never do.

  • @thawedwow If they EVER put a black person on one of their commercial whether its a employee or customer.. I'll take it down. But I know they're Not. So fuck em! LOL!

  • @DjEboogie1 LOL Tonight I saw a new one they have, where they show 2 other plumbing companies. Both had white employees. One was one wearing fake goofy teeth and the other company had 2 fat guys wearing Dr Suess like shirts that said something like Dummy1 and Dummy 2. Then came the Monkey for company number 3. Still no black people in the commercial!!! lmao

  • @thawedwow YOU ARE A RETARD there is no racism at all anytime somebody even says the word monkey black people jump around and cry.

  • @endwelfare im sorry but i disagree with that statement >:(

now, lets see if u were discriminated since the 1700's ( and sometimes now ) and was denied right until the late 1900's. dont say the black people just get mad over the little things like "monkey" ( and this video was racist ) if u look at this video more closley THEN you will see the racism against blacks. now, please regret ur comment and be glad that a middle schooler got to this and corrected u before anyone else

  • @NekoSuika1 ok you say look closer please explain to me were this is racist. i don't see it simply because there is a monkey ? explain your point of view

  • @endwelfare It's obvious that "endwelfare" is also racist. If anything he wants to encourage people to ignore the blatant racism portrayed in this ad. "All evil needs to succeed is for good people to do nothing." The ad makes the racist analogy obvious enough that anyone with half a brain can see it, but not so obvious that they can get sued. I mean there called "Superior" Plumbing, "superior" as in supremacist as in white supremacist.

  • @Xybernauts OMG you cannot be serious you even take there name superior plumbing and somehow you convert that into white supremacy. go kill yourself please. yea and the word plumber kinda sounds like dumber so they must be saying that they are superior then dumb people meaning retards so this company thinks retards should all die. LOser

  • I remember when I saw the first commercial (which they don't really air anymore) "you wouldn't want a monkey dating your daughter". I was like.... seriously?

  • And anyway blacks are more like lions than monkeys...get it straight SUPERIOR PLUMBING

  • And to any white person who comes here and say we need to stop looking for reasons you need to shut the hell up. Because its obvious why you came to the channel to view this commercial. Surely you didnt come because you wanted to see plumbing commercials just for the hell of it. You yourself saw this commercial as racist and you wanted to see if some blacks catched it also by looking it up on youtube. Idc I'm not offended but dont come here trying to say we need to get over it -_-

  • LOL!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS SHIT! This commercial is obviously racist. I saw it for the first time and I was like what! "You dont want a monkey dating your daughter" "You dont want a monkey teaching your children" "You dont want a moneky doing your plumbing" racist whites do refer to black people as monkey's. I think their was a newspaper picture of a monkey supposedly being Obama. This commercial is so stupid. Out of all the analogies or whatever! Why a damn moneky? Really? lol

  • Yeah thats the first thing I thought of this commercial. Monkeys and 'Superior' plumbing? Nazis?

  • Lol I thought I was the only one that thought this was racist.

  • @mistatrixsta0 Nope! I usually shrug off BS like this but I couldn't overlook it once I start seeing their billboards with a Monkey holding a wrench. Then was like OK.. I gotta say something.

  • If you are black, get over it. The word " racist" means a belief of superiority or inferiority simply because of the color of a person skin. We all know that's not true. So quit looking for ways to call yourself inferior.

  • @invertedmedia I rarely use racist as a name for someone for the very definition you gave. But you are missing the point of why people are upset and feel that Superior Plumbing looks down on them. Superior Plumbing DO think they are superior than monkeys and they know that monkey is used as a vulgar put down to blacks as much as the N word.

  • @invertedmedia to be honest I laughed at first until I saw the 2nd one. It would be different if they had black people or employees on the commercial. But they don't. So yea I think its a lil racist.

  • @invertedmedia Racism is also systemic and institutional and can ABSOLUTELY be as subtle as this commercial attempts to be. I didn't intially watch this commercial expecting to be offended, but I just had to wonder what in the name of christcrackers could ever be the point of comparing your competition to a monkey, when (whether we want to admit it or not) we all know full well how monkeys and people of color have historically and derogatorily been compared to one another.

  • @invertedmedia well they are called SUPERIOR plumbing

  • hey clint!

  • oh hi clint.

  • I think you folks are reading into this a bit too much. If it upsets you personally, don't use their company.

  • I know!!! Lol! But I couldn't let this shit slide! They have billboards up with a monkey holding a wrench in predominately black areas.. Fuck them!

  • Yoooo I'm new to Atlanta and I thought I was the only one who viewed this commercial as being racist. But its soooo funny at the same time
