  • im a lefty too! lets to the left hand handshake!

  • can you make the exact same video as this except put some moderate gain (van halen) esque (not just the 60's blues rock vibe here) on both guitars and play some rhythm as well

also can you use the bridge pickup as well

    amazing playing though

  • @wankmaster I wish I could but I sold it mate, sorry.

  • I like the sound of the clean in the mix! it makes the gain kinda distant sounding as a posed to just less gain. I might get one. I'm after something that will let me voice dirty chords with a bit more clarity and definition than other pedals I've tried, that just seem to muddy the sound no matter what level of Gain I put them on. Thx for the vid!

  • great demo bro. Im trying to get a john mayer tone with my strat through my orange amp and it just sounds way to vintage brittish roar for it. Im thinking this pedal would give me a less gritty distortion. Do you think its a good idea?

  • they built your guitar backwards!!

  • nice playing. sounds like an awesome pedal

  • i shall speak on behalf of the guitars show them some mercy dude lol.... very good playing man

  • i hear some SRV up in hear!! nice playing mate

  • nice rig.

  • ugh! you have my dream rig XD

  • hello friend, you're really talented on the guitar! how could I practice in order to move and learn those blues riffs the way that you do them?

  • try to find a guitarist you really like and copy their feel on simple riffs. Start with the basics - get a instructional video on blues they are very helpful! :) Copy the style of a few players to learn lots of good stuff and make it your own

  • Comment removed

  • the finish work on your ceiling is nice lol...oh yea and cool getars

  • Great demo thanks. How does this compare to the Behringer Vintage OD or other Tube Screamers (Ibanez, Maxon, etc) in terms of clarity/ mid hump, etc. Thanks. ie Does it sound full or thin IRL?

  • You're going to laugh at this but the TO-800 kills the sparkle drive in my opinion. I think now the clean control is a crock because if you want less gain just wind back the overdrive setting ;) hehe. These are good but not voiced as nice as the 800. I would use the sparkle over the to100 and od400 because I like the TS style sound.

  • Thanks!

  • can this give you alot of distortion too? im looking to sound like coheed and cambria

  • I don't know who that is sorry. Read up about pedals and see who uses them too ;)

  • k thanks anyway

  • Beautiful lefty 335. Great tone as well.

  • Wow, this is perfect, I was looking at getting a Hot rod deville 410, with the voodoo lab sparkle, and I have an American Deluxe strat, so your vid pretty much made my decision to buy the amp and the pedal. Thanks a million, that last minute of vid was pretty swell, great tone.

  • It's a good amp on the clean channel. The drive channel on the amp is pretty thin and shitty. Make sure you test the amp out enough in the store because the drive channel loses all the eq and fullness that the clean channel excells with.

  • actually i have a hot rod deluxe and the drive channel sounds great it just takes a lot of tweaking with the amp and guitar when i got mine the bass was very farty and crappy so i lowered my pickups it made the bass sweeter and allowed me to thicken the tone try playing wit ur pickup height

  • yea, i find the drive channel to be REALLY thick. n the right settings it sounds almost like a fregin' fuzz pedal. which is sweet, but i really think this amp benefits from having an OD in front of it to get some of the more "classic" tones out of it. Amazing amp by itself tho

  • Buenisimo loco. Sounds like ts808 ??

  • it has a ts808 circuit in it....

  • i just got an es-325 from my uncle(it was his guitar since the 80's) ITS AWESOME! Both me and my uncle like harder classic rock like Van Halen, Zepplin, the who and acdc. So he got dimarzio distortion pickups in 85. IT ROCKS

  • you lucky !@?*&!, i'm so jealous! :(

  • i cant imaging Van Halen on an ES lol

  • A lefty 335... one of my dreams ^^ good video, i'd like to have this pedal.

  • i have always wanted a 335. but except for true blues i dont really like the sound. guess i'll just stick to my tele's and les pauls. the vid was great, i need to get the pedal

  • 335's are great blues machines. I think some poeple love them on clean for jazz but I like it dirty.

  • Yay for backwardsness!!!!! (I'm a lefty too, so it is meant in good humor)

  • hehe cool! Lefties unite! :)

  • yeahh for sure!

  • IM LEFTY TOO!!!!!!! Love your guitars. Especially the 335

  • thanks :) The 335 is a fun guitar

  • the magical "clean" knob.

great pedal and great sample, i just thought you'd have explored a lil more the pedal with the 335

  • are you facing a huge mirror?!

  • I dunno how to tell you this ... but your guitar is fekkin backwards, dude. :o0

(Sweet playing ... very tasty. Thanks for the demo, mate.)

  • Hehe, thanks. Being a lefty is good no one else can really play my guitars :)

  • soo true, but at the same time you can't really play anyone elses guitars

  • Wow, I have been really considering buying the sparkle drive but I think this video sold me. By the way your playing is smokin' man, I really dig it.

  • left hand guitars always look so funny to me!

  • yeah the es 335 is such a beautiful guitar.

  • here here

  • great demo, but im sad that you are using an overdrive pedal on a tube amp

  • If you like the fender deluxe/deville drive channel, that is sad ;P

The whole idea is to get a nice sound at a lower volume, that is the idea behind these pedals, thus - it gets used.

  • a 335 is my dream guitar

  • That's the whole point of an overdrive pedal, they sound like shit on solid state amps.

  • No they don't. It depends on the amp check out the peavey bandit demo I put up ;) It might sound like crap on yours but they rock if the amp is decent.

  • You're awesome!

  • Your my kind of guitarist. Overdrive, Fender amps, Strats and 335s.

    Keep it going

  • Thanks mate, I really dig both sounds and it's handy to have both type of guitars for different tunes

  • Getting a Deville very shortly, but a little unsure which to get: the 410 or the 212. Your opinion?

  • 12 is the way to go, I'd rather have fat bottom end but that's just me.

  • awesome demo thanks.

  • Thanks for the nice comments everyone! :) I will have more demos up soon, I got a bunch of new gear so stay tuned! :)

  • not only a nice pedal, but you play f* smooth ^^

  • liking the lefthandedness.

Did you have any trouble getting one of those in l/handed form?

  • (the gibson I mean)

  • everything up I don't use tone controls at all when I play.

  • Cool. Did you kick that guy at about 4:40 to get him to turn the knobs for you? ;P

  • LOL! Just horrible "editing" on my part. I thought post video it might be handy to chuck a few knob turning scenes in so it makes more sence.

The good news is, I've sort of rediscovered this pedal. I thought I loved it, then I didn't use it for ages NOW I'm back with it!

It's really quite a kick arse pedal and I think in my fender amp it works best.

  • Voodoo Labs pedals are made in Santa Rosa California not too far from Mesa Boogie. I had a buddy of mine who brought over his old Ibanez 808 and played it back to back to my Voodoo Lab and he liked the Voodoo Lab better. He thought that it sounded more natural and had better definition. The clean blend is a great option and the guys at Voodoo Lab are extremely responsive if you have any problems with their gear. Cheers.

  • Hey Thanks for sharing that I'm thinking about buying a sparkle drive, and wondered how it would sound with my 335, so this is very informative, and good playing!

    Thanks again

  • thanks! Lemme know how you go with the Sparkle Drive! :)

  • This is probably the best bet if you wanna sound "vintage Fender blues amp with a lot of volume and no pedal". The clean section does the trick cause those amps are very transparent (you can hear perfectly the instruments tone) and the drive section adds natural sustain.

  • that strat is so nice,

    i have the same one.

  • Like the playing and tone, let us know when you play in Canberra or Sydney. dont tell anyone else but a lot of that tone is from the player. Andre- Bass Player

  • ;) yep alot of it is in the hands. I have nothing planned for NSW at this stage but I might look at doing a quick tour at some stage.

  • Hey, there lefty blues guy! We've commented each other's videos before. I've been thinking of getting a Sparkle Drive and getting rid of my TS-9. Have you owned both? Is the Sparkle Drive worth it if I've already got a TS-9?

    Cool video. Great playing!

  • Howdy! :)

I've owned a Ibanez TS-7 which is "similar" to the TS-9. I was in the studio with a friend who thought the TS-9 was too aggressive for what he wanted, although the chip in the Sparkle drive is modeled off a TS-9 (as are most od pedals). I think having the clean sound back in makes a difference but it's probably personal choice.

  • The Sparkle Drive isn't modeled after the TS-9. It's modeled after the TS-808, there is a difference. And it's a pretty close replica. It uses an original 4558D, which is more than even the reissue 808s can say. The only real difference between the two is the clean knob and true bypass, which are both plusses. You can also send it to Robert Keeley to mod it and make it even better. So, in short, this pedal is the way to go rather than a Tube Screamer, in my opinion.

  • I always get those ones confused. Thanks for clearing that up ! :)

  • thanks dude, both guitars sounded beautiful

  • Thanks mate, much appreciated! :)
