  • Well articulated question, this is why he wins independents.

  • And now the left on MSNBC loves this General, cus Obama appointed him after getting rid of McChrystal. Wow. This President is so damn stupid.

  • America should wake up! Sen.Obama said these military exploits "were" haemorrhage to the economy. There is no blood left to haemorrhage, America is now completely bankrupt! and printing money just to stay afloat. The public debt now stands at between $650 tp$700 Trillion Dollars (million million)

My ist cousin, Brigadier Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat DSO, MC, TD was UK Minister for Economic Warfare. I know exactly what he would say of this predicament!

    "Who is to blame?"

  • WOW ,look at this mess BUSH has gotten us into and like a tipical snotty nosed rich boy who makes a mess and someone else will have to come behind him and clean it up while his happy ass goes back to a happy lifestyle on his ranch in texas without even as much as a slap in the face for being a stupid useless sawed off little prick.

  • It's impossible to trust anyone in politics today. It's getting so that we WANT to hear lies and plead ignorance of being deceived.

  • this is like the 34 year old son living at home being lazy and not doing his part of the chores, and not self-progressing...Iraq needs to know that we are not going to continue babysitting their ass!!!....once were gone..WERE GONE!!..see if there lazy asses would be able to hold the fort themselves!!!

  • Oh, and mark my words, Obama's just saying stuff to get votes right now, but if he gets elected, he's not going to pull out of Iraq. I know you all are drinking the cool aid right now, but it's pretty clear, we're going to be there a long time no matter who's in office.

  • Muslim, third world societies are poorly funded to have good, critical education. The poor turn to extremism. Cure? Their own leaders must solve it, NOT US. Not our millions of tax dollars and spilling American blood, whilst bribing corrupt Iraqi officials and enriching Cheney and his companies. McCain wants us there for 100 years; but we have our own problems like the economy and housing crisis to focus on. I don't trust Clinton after NAFTA & Colombia, my vote is for Obama.

  • @RansomthePasserby well, 2 years have passed, and obama has withdrawn from Iraq.

  • @yonanz Win.

  • To atyg1967, read the article in the New York Times from March 4th 2008 titled "Violence Leaves Young Iraqis Doubting Clerics." Then tell me what you think.

  • You guys don't seem to get it, do you. We're not fighting the destitute Iraqi "freedom fighters" defending their homeland. We're fighting mercenaries, killers for hire from outside looking to get rich quick by murder and rape, funded and equipped by people in Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Europe, Russia, etc.

It's sick, these invaders butcher innocent Iraqis by day, then squander their winnings on drugs and prostitutes by night.

We're not fighting normal people over there.

  • The problem with Obama is, he wants to run the war like you would run a school system or something. With deadlines and all the bells and wistles of bueracracy. That's a recepie for disaster. Plus, he doesn't seem to realize there's a broader front to this than just Iraq.

The way you win a war is by breaking the enemy's will to fight. Obama doesn't sound like he's going to do that.

  • You'll never break their will. Kill each muslim, and many will volunteer to take his place, to die fighting the American occupiers. It'll go on, 100 years--McCain.

Deadlines to the legitiate Iraqi government will tell them that American involvement in their country is finite, they must solve their own problems, without American blood and tax dollars.

If you want the war to go on, sell your house, give your money to our government, go volunteer to get yourself blown up in Iraq.

  • Negative, mate. There's always a breaking point, you talk like a loser. And if more butchers and bloodsuckers want to come and try their hand at killing Iraqis and allies, I say welcome to the meat grinder, it'll be your grave.

Dying a hero while fighting terrorists is better than getting old and leeching off society, friend. I look forward to it.

  • RansomthePasserby...did you say Obama's possible approach to the war would be a recipe for for disaster!? And therefore the current approach, in your opinion, is one that should be continuing!? You're a stupid ass goof...The war has gone to hell, the economy has gone to hell, and you say lets keep it the same and keep fighting!! What the fuck man...In my opinion, the terrorists succeeded in every fucking way against America and will continue to do so as long as there's a war

  • "The enemy" has nothing to lose so how are we supposed to break their will to fight?

The have no jobs, food, water, electricity, security, etc. We FEED their will to fight and the only people who have something to lose in all this is the American people.

Do some research. Bin ladens goal was to bankrupt America and with each passing day he is succeeding.

  • I love how the online comments section always reveal the pure ignorance and intolerance of a certain segment of the US electorate. Tomrainbow1 and In22525...you are officially on record.

  • Obama is the opposite of George Bush. Calm, rational, not antagonistic, unifying, direct, and INTELLIGENT.

His point that th two ongoing problems Al-Quaeda in Iraq and Iranian influence were created by Bush/Clinton/McCain is accurate and irrefutable.

  • I like how he opens a dialogue rather than insisting on a "right" and a "wrong" in this complicated issue. He is also smart to focus on how we define success and setting an achievable goal.

  • No it isnt. Methodolgy of the national journal has been debunked.

  • It is true that the voting record speaks louder than words. If you bring up the correct notion that we should look at specifics, please DO provide us with some yourself. What specifically in his voting record do you disagree with?

  • SB 1661 (2002)

A part of the Born Alive Infant Protection Package. Would create a cause of action of a child is born alive after an abortion and the child is then neglected through failure to provide medial care after birth.

    Obama voted No

  • just for this year, but he was 16th the year before. the fact is that hillary's healthcare plan with its mandate and her moratorium for the interest rates on mortgages are far more liberal. Obama beleives in the free market that operates within the rules, as Milton Friedman would like it. watch his speech on the economy. Judge him on his words, people are attacking everyone around him because they can't attack him directly!
