Try doing that with your V6 and you'll blow it up. That's why people buy the V8 and it sounds a million times better than any V6. what Dodge need to do now, since Dodge can plainly see what their competitors have to offer,is rebuild its 3.5 liter with DOHC and variable valve timing with all the SRT performance gadgets or just give its 3.5 liter a supercharger or a turbocharged system that make the engine output around 310 to 330 hp. I just bought an 09 SE Challenger. I got a hell of a deal on it. All Leather, All Power, upgraded stereo, Sunroof. All upgraded options! Car cost me 26K. Only had a thousand miles on it. It may not be the fastest thing in the world, but all the attention it gets is definetly worth it! I get looks everywhere I go. It does have plenty of passing power. I love the car. It is a bad machine. Besides, the cool thing to do in the 70s was buy the 6 and swap it out with the big boy.

I own the canada verson, the SXT 3.5L, its well broken in, a 09 with 16000 km on it, about half is hard km. I have a magnaflow system, but the front muffler is a cherrybomb Vortex,(mild), great sound, I have some videos on here. check em out

The stock nombers they tested this challenger is probley only mabe a 1000km or miles on it, the car does better then that, trust me, ill have to go to the track this year and get them!

If you could get an R/T 'handing package' [Or something close to it] on the SE - I think that would make it far more appealing. That said - a car that can get to 60 in about 8 seconds isn't slow. My 78 Monarch went from 0-60 in 21 seconds and the corvette from that year was like 9.7.  I don't see how 8.1 seconds is slow. Also remember real people can actually comfortobly fit in this car unlike a 4 cyl.

I have a 07' 300 touring and i did low 15's on both my runs at u.s. 41 befor any mods. Now I'm running true duals and a K&N cai with a 93 octane tune from diablosport, and I'm running neck and neck with hemi c's and charger r/t's on the highway now so for the money and a few upgrades you can get a nice looking mopar that can perform just as good as any stock hemi. 1,200 to 1,500$ in performance upgrades and your running pretty good for a V6 in a heavy as tank.

My 86 Vette had 280 hp stock. It was the fastest thing next to flying that year probably due to the fiberglass. 250 hp in this tank will definitely slow it down. Although they should have given it RT tires. Would have helped the handling.

it's clear that Dodge had no intentions of creating a capable, entry-level Challenger, same as Ford w/ the Mustang. I'm personally waiting for the 2010 Camaro V6. Chevrolet is right in taking their time to bring a well balanced entry level Camaro to market. Cadillac-derived V6, 6 speed man/auto, IRS. Now this is the formula for a sports car. Sure the SE Challenger LOOKS great, but style should always be on par with substance.

How is the Challenger a "joke"? If you think about it, HP doesn't move the car. It is torque. The v6 in the Camaro may have 300hp, but only 250ft.lbs of torque. And the v6 in the Camaro has VVT and DI where as teh v6 in teh Challenger does not. I would take a 372hp 5.7 HEMI Challenger and get 25mpg HWY!

I don't know why so many people put down the V-6 version....to me it makes alot of sense. With gas prices so high, this might be my next car. I can't think of a better looking way to get 26+mpg. The SE has the same LOOK and that is why most normal working people want the Challenger. With the stripe package and some old school style wheels, you will have a car that turns more heads than anything else in the 20K range for sure.

Even the v6 challenger is heavy, 3700 lbs. Goes to show that you need alot of horses to move that much weight. I've driven plenty of the V6 charger (same v6 engine and frame) and they just feel mushy. It is only $20,000 but for about $22,000 you can get a much faster SRT 4 caliber. There will be tons of these on the road and plenty of them will be rental cars.
