good version too its the 2000 version but the 1958 version got better acting and design in it. Pc grafix are good but not all u can see on the 2000 version
@Johnlindsey289 maybe sting cant act true but i liked the design of the film and not all acters were the perfect cast true but who knows who could had done a better job?
Did you knew that will smith wanted to be Neo in Matrix and he said afterwards he
hadnt have it done like Keanu Reaves so maybe it went the way ist endet.
Absolutely brilliant. True to the book; masterful storytelling. My favorite miniseries.
I have no idea what the hell is wrong with you people who enjoyed the crap-ass '84 version that Lynch himself has chastized others for the mere mention of his own movie.
Good mini-series but had some problems, now the sequel was far better and has superior direction, better costumes, better acting and pure satisfiaction, it's also better than Lynch's monstrosity.
The Lynch version gets the look, costumes, sets, settings, the darkness of the book. Although it lacks in story continuity, the feel is dead-on how I envision the Dune universe. It's a gritty, medieval monarchy that just so happens to have guns and shields.
This version just looks like some goofy comic book. The costumes are laughable.
I don't know, when i was reading the book I imagined it looking more like this. Lynch's version to me was mostly just weirdness for the sake of weirdness.
I have to say.. the chracters' outfits were horrid and Paul looks too old. However, the overall look of the planet and the appearance of the city was just as I have been imagining it as I have been reading the books.
Gotta say I really disliked the dune miniseries- it was just pretty cheap and nasty filled with bad acting. Paradoxically I actually enjoyed the COD miniseries - not sure if it's the acting, music or just story that just worked much better
OF COURSE the books were better. But I enjoyed these movies when they came out. Watched the original airing on SciFi and enjoyed it immensely. Still got those recorded VHS somewhere... Yes I now use Blu-ray, but that was back in the day :D
Now, I think, the Lynch-Version is really cult, the look, and so on. But this one is better. The story is nearer at the book. And I think THIS Paul is much much better.
But the trailer-music is horrible. Iek.
The UNCUT-LONG-180min-Version of the Lynch-Version is really great stuff.
But still is THIS one (and the following 2 parts) better from the story. And I LOVE Barbora Kodetova as Chani. Shes so brilliant....and a wonderful woman :-D
I actualy hated the scfi paul he was a douche... and though its closer to the book they still fucked up on the pronouncing of alot of the names and words... for instance its HAR CONE EN not HAR CAN NEN and it was a lot more boring and the stilsuits are black not a freaking arabian looking thing... I hate how it looks so cheesy and as if its in another galaxy and not futuristic. and the music was WAAAAY better and the fight with paul and feyd was alot better
(part 2)too cause in this one paul was getting his ass kicked in the other one it was about equal and looked better ... not that I don't like this one I think its pretty good but it doesn't compare to the original
Now I admit that I have only seen this trailer for this version of the film but I have to ask... With all defference to people like William Hurt who is one of my favourite actors I have to ask... Having read all the books several times I am compelled to ask...
WHY DID THEY MAKE THIS?
Dino & Rafaella De Laurentiis made movies for the fans of the books (Same for Conan). I would suggest this was made purely for profit.
I liked the worms and a few other special effects like the ornithopters...but I agree some parts definitely looked a bit cheap overall I really loved it though and thought it was a lot better than the 1984 film.
Aye God emperor... it is a book, that would be extremely hard to bring to the screen. Very interesting book, and a great addition to the Dune series but its more metaphorical. Cause like damn Leto has become half man, half worm... a god. How would you translate to the screen, without destroying it.
The problem is that it reaches Chapterhouse and then ends on cliffhanger. Frank Herbert, you know, stopped breathing, which made it rather difficult for him to finish ;).
Well, Kevin J anderson and Brian Herbert have just finished the last two books of the series from the notes Frank Herbert left behind and the identity of the Great Enemy the Honoured Matres are fleeing from is worth the effort of finding out.
Hmm God Emperor would've been cool, but there's less action and it's more about the ideas it represents, which is not good to translate to a TV, but it would've been interesting. Awesome trailer though.
I prefer the end of the 1985 Dune better,Mua dib kicked more ass in that one! I like how he crushes the guy into the ground at the end, with his mind!

I thought Dune 1984 had some bad acting from Maclachen who was a miscast as Paul for he's too pudgy for the part and Sting can't act.
