I saw the original lineup of Jason and the (Nashville) Scorchers butt-rape REM in an outdoor show in Athens (Legion Field, University of Georgia) June 4, 1982. It was so obvious with REM's body language when they came on stage that they new it too.
Jason fell off the stage (6 foot drop at least) and didn't miss a word - the crowd when nuts! They preformed Lost Highway then also.

yes, they truly scorched. I saw them twice in Amsterdam, during the early days of the first albums.. Absolute rock & roll power :-)
