i agree, cannibal corpse is a bit to mainstream for me, same with gorgoroth, rotting christ is often described as 'jew metal' but i think that's to do with thier origin. Certainly spot on with Tvangeste. Dark funeral's 'Analepsy' pure win. Carpathian Forest haha best lyrical theme 'S@M with satanism.' Norway... At the moment i am into Sun of the Sleepless, Obscurus Advocam and Agolloch. You need to mention Dark Funeral and My Dying Bride.(Emo like name but Goth gods of UK doom.)
@Nospertelaca Im not really here to "troll" or anything, but whats wrong with Cannibal Corpse? They've been around a long time. I'd say they're so popular because they're good, unlike other bands who are popular because of some silly scene or something. When I think of "death metal" Cannibal Corpse is like the first band that comes to mind. To this day they're still one of those bands that I can just blast their entire discography on my stereo and not get bored or skip songs off a certain album.
Cannibal Corpse is shitty now because they ran out of material. 90% of their material after Bloodthirst isn't catchy or memorable at all. Listen to Vile and then listen to Kill and tell me which one is better: the one with good song structure, catchy riffs, excellent memorable guitar work and brutal as fuck? Or the one that consists of uninspired scale patterns being played faster than hell, extremely simplistic songs structurally, and just loads of distortion for fake heaviness?
@GloomAndFire The Bleeding will always be my favorite album, but I love them all for different reasons. The song Priests of Sodom on the new album...fucking beast as fuck, the way he repeats the last part of every line...so fucking awsome. All their shit is good to me though like theres good shit on every album.
