I just hope that it's not "A" place that doesn't exist like the so many mind/brain physicalist atheists who say that ndes are just a trick played on us by our brain via evolution to give us comfort from our fear of death. Have you researched their various responses? I used to think dmt was a good explanation until I did more a more in depth study. And have you looked into the big AWARE nde study that's being done by Dr. Sam Parnia?

@cubeus19 While DMT causes a reaction within the brain, NDEs are reported during flat EEG - no brain activity - and thus, the two phenomenon are not the same. No theory to date can account for all elements of the NDE and science still need to explain how clear consciousness can be reported with flat EEG.

Yes, I know about Dr. Sam Parnia's study but I'm still waiting for the scientists to explain blind people having sight during a near death experience!

You would think if consciousness was merely a product of the brain, during periods of flat eeg you would expect to see faded or murky consciousness and not clear (and sometimes beyond clear) consciousness. Also to go along with the blind nde cases you could also include cases of collaborative evidence. Like cases that involve two relatives dying around the same time, one has a nde and sees the other person who just recently died. Those need explaining too.
