i was an Auxiliary sometimes i thought it was my last night but made it out i did it for 5 years and let go since the NYPD does not wanna give us Guns plus some Auxiliary dont belong there so they also need to give better training etc for Auxiliarys and the age should be to join 20 --45 only

The problem with paying auxiliarries will cause a chunk of loss of overtime for regular mos's making their situaution worse, they just got a pay hike i dont think the pba wants to screw them out their pay.

I myself am a housing auxiliary in the confines of the 32 pct. let me tell ya safety is my number 1 concern. That area is so bad that i usually go on patrol with regular mos's. The problem with arming us is that the funds for the amount of training is nt really available plus its prob not a good idea to arm 17 year olds let alone give them full police power. It pretty much sucks that the auxiliary panel are a bunch of old farts who havent really patrolled and have them decide the programs fate.

Truly amazing that someone has to DIE for change to come about. When I joined the Aux PD, I had to buy my own vest.... it was 300 bucks. Now, I believe they're being issued.. Am I correct?

It depends on what Auxiliary Department you work in. The one in my community doesn't have bullet proof vests, but has been carrying handguns for over 50 years without any incidents.

It really depends on the Dept. Around here they are armed police officers and have all the weapons and stuff that the reg police have. The only diff is the patches they say "auxiliary" in small letters at the bottom of the patches. They have some paid details too, they are just temp police. training is done in ride alongs.

NYPD Auxiliary police do not get paid. they receive a 300 - 400 dollar check yearly as a uniform allowance.

I hope they are considering arming the auxiliaries. I am a Reserve Constable in BC and we are unarmed too. We don't even get body armour which I think is a problem. R.I.P. guys.

The person or people responsible I believe were executed in the same fashion but I just hope everyone can live the rest of their lives in peace and harmony but I doubt it.

People were murdered including the gunman which for whatever reason decided on his actions on that day.
