The Osttruppen and the 709th division were the main defending force at Utah.Not the Waffen SS as the game inaccurately states. The area depicted in the game near Abduville was defended by troops of the 649th Ostruppen div.

Also if just having accurate unit descriptions make a game extremely authentic or realistic in anyway? Then with your logic Red Orchestra is probably the most realistic game about WW2 plus all it's mods and if you want better realism and accuracy then Normandy 1944 mod for Arma 2 would beat them all! Seeing how Arma 2 is a military simulator.

@LgMaYh3MzZ Lots of our grandfathers died, doesnt matter on which side, they were just soldiers, fighting for their countries. Besides, allied campaigns in games from Overlord'44 to the end is not very interesting for gameplay, allies already had superiority in numbers, air superiority etc. There were so much bigger and more interesting battles in WW2 that I would preffer to play, yet game developers are only using 1 year from ww2 to simulate in games.

The game itself is trying to be as historicly accurate as possible, but I don't wanna bore you with all those facts lol.

Both germans and russians have for example different running animation depending on how they were trained in real life by their armies. You have to adjust your sights on longer ranges, can blind fire from cover, can hold breath on unscoped weapons and there are some really cool innovative game modes in multiplayer.

Static Infantry Division faught at Utah - not these highly skilled camoflagued soldiers in the game, on this level - No I don't think Medal of Honor ever got it's history right I mean for god sakes you jump in the middle of DAYLIGHT.. Hell there are evil men with gasmasks hip firing MG42s and survive up to 3 shots to the head. . Plus you never attack a big super flak tower.. It's history is just as bad as it's realism!

I was using BIA as a historical reference, since its designed all around historical accuracy, and compared it to MOH, which though both have the same mission at Utah beach, they are very different, BIA being a near exact representation of the real landings and fighting at Utah beach Victor sector. Whereas MOH has the same sector in it, of which it looks nothing like and plays out nothing like the real landings near Abduville

Also the ACTUAL level design was also inaccurate. What they don't show is 45% Airborne casuatlies over Utah Beach. Gameplay is not realistic
@RazorCell7 The 502nd had no casualties in the ambush at exit 4. that mission is accurate, and in the mods you have up to 20 Paratroops under your command, level design in a mirror copy of the real exit 4, of which I go there every year for the anniversary.

That level is based on a series of battles/skrimishs not just the ambush they laid at Exit 3, BiA is not 100% accurate when it comes to actual battles and is 0% realistic at all. They're all BASED on reality but is FICTIONAL played by FICTIONAL characters that are BASED on thousands of soldiers and what they felt- There is just one mod
@RazorCell7 Exit 4 is NOT fictional, 1st batallion of the 502nd had sent some troops to link up with elements of 3rd of the 502nd to assist in the securing of exit 4. In BIA Bakers men were part of 1st Bn. who were at exit 4, since everyone was scattered around, units were mixed up, and ended up in different places, some men from 1st batallion 2nd platoon of the 502 9Bakers unit) did fight at exit 4, thats accurate, and yes exit 4 does look like that in terms of the roadways and flooded fields.

Again BiA BASED the landscape on what it actually looked like and did a pretty good job of it but when they start modifing the level for gameplay it automattically looses it's ability to say it's 100% accurate and that isn't even arguable.. @RazorCell7 Never said Baker and Red were real, and yes I have historical areal pictures of Exit 4 during early June from the US Army signal corps, the fields on the sides of the exit are clearly flooded, not the whole area, just a few areas near the road, just as its seen in the game. Mac Hassey isnt real either, he's based on a few people. Cole, Cassidy, Sink, and Johnson were real people.
@RazorCell7 And yes according to AARs I've read, and a few veteran interviews I've done, the Germans upon realizing that American paratroops were coming up the exit, and the 4th ID assaulting from the front, the Ostruppen began fleeing out of their positions, the German officers were ordered to shoot any soldiers who abandoned their posts, however even the German officers began retreating squad by squad, but were cut down by the dozen as they ran right into the line of fire, the rest surrendered
@RazorCell7 And yes anyone above the rank of sargeant in BIA was a real historical figure, and those who are not, are based off of real people. The gameplay is tactically realistic ie. the "Four "F"s of combat.
@LoneWolf051 Also that entire level from the farm house to the beach is not a mirror like copy they left out a HUGE portion of in between landscapes. The farmhouse to the beach I mean. Also in real life at Exit 4 there was Allied casualties. Even in BiA Allen and Garnett tell you about the Airborne soldiers they met up with were using a Browning .30 cal but where all killed in the firefight. The men on the .30 espically were killed by and I quote "...Before a Potato masher got the best of them"
@RazorCell7 The distance between the farmhouse to the beach was shortened for gameplay, I was speaking in terms of landscapes, ie. flooded flat fields, dirt roads, powerlines, and the correct nature of the ambush, all of which are correct, and I've been there myself many times to exit 4. BIA is accurate enough that I was able to go to those places in real life and was easily able to navigate around towns and farmlands. MOH cant say that. A few BIAs levels are slightly altered for gameplay.

I never wanted people to stop making WW2 games I just wanted a break for about 2-3 years but now people are making Modern games like we did WW2 games and I need a break from those so Im ready to pick up my MP40 again and blow off some kraut heads.
@TheIphone4thewin I thought omaha beach losses were like 3000 (WIA, KIA, MIA). This game is anything but realistic anyway, its action adventure you know. It doesnt have to be historicall accurate, its as accurate as Indiana Jones is. But its a fun game, it would be more fun if there was less allies and more enemies to keep the pace down :P

@foist101 No. In fact, I've never seen more than 10 minuteds of Saving Private Ryan, much less the whole movie. I said in my post- there's more of a legacy at Omaha than at Utah. Sure, both invasions were a struggle, but we took Utah Beach almost effortless by comparison of what it took at Omaha. Omaha Beach was heavily defended and built to withstand such an assualt. Yet, despite the German's tough efforts, we narrowly escaped with a victory at Omaha Beach and is therefore a higher legacy.
@foist101 Actually, Utah and Omaha were the only beaches that were a major struggle for the Allies. Otherwise, Canada's and Great Britain's invaisions went relatively smoothly. I'm not saying that I disagree with you, in fact the complete opposite, I'm just adding a little more information to the subject.
@grooks10 But you're wrong. I've been at Utah Beach and it syas it was the beach with the least casualties. ''only'' 197 soldiers died and after 1 and a half hour the whole beach was taken and they were moving inland.
@grooks10 Utah beach was the easiest American beach to be captured, the defenders werent even Germans, but Russian POWs forced to fight, and didnt even want to fight their fellow allies and gave up very quickly. Especially with the 101st Airborne coming in from the exits behind the beach.
@Rushgoon1 because being stuck in a trench for hours, without much movement on either side never makes money. Although i have seen some civil war games

Other things did happen, beside the trench fights. A war can still be fought even though it's during a long time, and some particular section of the battles can be used. One person can never win a war himself so don't expect a game with a rambo character who charges the battle.
@Rushgoon1 they didn't make many WW1 games cause nothing really happened most of the battles where trough trenches on the other hand WW2 had so many operations that some of them are yet to be unclassified for the public

According to the Higgins boat driver thet came to my school the Utah beach head wasn't as heavaly fortified as the Omaha one was. He said that there was far less carnage as you would expect.

@Username0fMine I want a WW1 FPS as well. I enjoy WW2 games a lot, but it has been covered many times. An intense, ultra violent WW1 game by the right developer would be fantastic. A good developer can make it excting. Doesn't have to all be trenches. You can have forest battles like in the movie 'Lost Battalion'. Beach landings on the Turkish front, sappers tunneling under German lines, aircraft battles, sub battles, mustard gas attacks, etc

@LoneWolf051 Fail - You just proved to me you don't know what you are talking about - That was Exit 3 NOT the fictional Exit 4 that Brothers in arms used instead. That level is based on a series of battles/skrimishs not just the ambush they laid at Exit 3, BiA is not 100% accurate when it comes to actual battles and is 0% realistic at all. They're all BASED on reality but is FICTIONAL played by FICTIONAL characters that are BASED on thousands of soldiers and what they felt- There is just one mod

@RazorCell7 Exit 4 is NOT fictional, 1st batallion of the 502nd had sent some troops to link up with elements of 3rd of the 502nd to assist in the securing of exit 4. In BIA Bakers men were part of 1st Bn. who were at exit 4, since everyone was scattered around, units were mixed up, and ended up in different places, some men from 1st batallion 2nd platoon of the 502 9Bakers unit) did fight at exit 4, thats accurate, and yes exit 4 does look like that in terms of the roadways and flooded fields.

@LoneWolf051 Yup, Too bad the Germans never got flooded out of Exit 4 like they do in the game.. . Again BiA BASED the landscape on what it actually looked like and did a pretty good job of it but when they start modifing the level for gameplay it automattically looses it's ability to say it's 100% accurate and that isn't even arguable.. Also Baker and Red are not REAL again you prove to me your ignorance.. . Only First "Sergeant" Greg "Mac" Hassey & Lieutenant Colonel Robert Cole; that's it!

@RazorCell7 Never said Baker and Red were real, and yes I have historical areal pictures of Exit 4 during early June from the US Army signal corps, the fields on the sides of the exit are clearly flooded, not the whole area, just a few areas near the road, just as its seen in the game. Mac Hassey isnt real either, he's based on a few people. Cole, Cassidy, Sink, and Johnson were real people.

@RazorCell7 And yes according to AARs I've read, and a few veteran interviews I've done, the Germans upon realizing that American paratroops were coming up the exit, and the 4th ID assaulting from the front, the Ostruppen began fleeing out of their positions, the German officers were ordered to shoot any soldiers who abandoned their posts, however even the German officers began retreating squad by squad, but were cut down by the dozen as they ran right into the line of fire, the rest surrendered

@RazorCell7 And yes anyone above the rank of sargeant in BIA was a real historical figure, and those who are not, are based off of real people. The gameplay is tactically realistic ie. the "Four "F"s of combat.

@LoneWolf051 Also that entire level from the farm house to the beach is not a mirror like copy they left out a HUGE portion of in between landscapes. The farmhouse to the beach I mean. Also in real life at Exit 4 there was Allied casualties. Even in BiA Allen and Garnett tell you about the Airborne soldiers they met up with were using a Browning .30 cal but where all killed in the firefight. The men on the .30 espically were killed by and I quote "...Before a Potato masher got the best of them"

@RazorCell7 The distance between the farmhouse to the beach was shortened for gameplay, I was speaking in terms of landscapes, ie. flooded flat fields, dirt roads, powerlines, and the correct nature of the ambush, all of which are correct, and I've been there myself many times to exit 4. BIA is accurate enough that I was able to go to those places in real life and was easily able to navigate around towns and farmlands. MOH cant say that. A few BIAs levels are slightly altered for gameplay.

Not MOH, these games are GAMES, for entertainment purposes, they are MEANT to be fun, to take away the realism of REAL LIFE. @TheIphone4thewin I thought omaha beach losses were like 3000 (WIA, KIA, MIA). This game is anything but realistic anyway, its action adventure you know. It doesnt have to be historicall accurate, its as accurate as Indiana Jones is. But its a fun game, it would be more fun if there was less allies and more enemies to keep the pace down :P

@foist101 No. In fact, I've never seen more than 10 minuteds of Saving Private Ryan, much less the whole movie. I said in my post- there's more of a legacy at Omaha than at Utah. Sure, both invasions were a struggle, but we took Utah Beach almost effortless by comparison of what it took at Omaha. Omaha Beach was heavily defended and built to withstand such an assualt. Yet, despite the German's tough efforts, we narrowly escaped with a victory at Omaha Beach and is therefore a higher legacy.

@foist101 Actually, Utah and Omaha were the only beaches that were a major struggle for the Allies. Otherwise, Canada's and Great Britain's invaisions went relatively smoothly. I'm not saying that I disagree with you, in fact the complete opposite, I'm just adding a little more information to the subject.

@grooks10 Utah beach was the easiest American beach to be captured, the defenders werent even Germans, but Russian POWs forced to fight, and didnt even want to fight their fellow allies and gave up very quickly. Especially with the 101st Airborne coming in from the exits behind the beach.

Other things did happen, beside the trench fights. A war can still be fought even though it's during a long time, and some particular section of the battles can be used. One person can never win a war himself so don't expect a game with a rambo character who charges the battle.

According to the Higgins boat driver thet came to my school the Utah beach head wasn't as heavaly fortified as the Omaha one was. He said that there was far less carnage as you would expect.

@Username0fMine I want a WW1 FPS as well. I enjoy WW2 games a lot, but it has been covered many times. An intense, ultra violent WW1 game by the right developer would be fantastic. A good developer can make it excting. Doesn't have to all be trenches. You can have forest battles like in the movie 'Lost Battalion'. Beach landings on the Turkish front, sappers tunneling under German lines, aircraft battles, sub battles, mustard gas attacks, etc

I absolutely have to fight against allies/soviets, or else it just wont be german campaign but some sci-fi or whatever.
