My family on my father's side is dominatly Taino. No, we aren't full blood, we estimate that those still in the island are around 60%. Now most of his are brown skinned with almond eyes and thick hair. Other than a chance Japanese mixture on my specific branch in the family, which a few individuals of my family, such as myself, end up taking after, typical spaniard influence, and then a african influence on a different branch of my family, we are all mostly taino.

My great gramma was 100% Taino. She was a Jibaro from Manati. My grandmother was raised in a roundhouse with a grass ceiling and a dirt floor.

I don't know what to say to that. Half my ancestors are Taino and the other half are Italians...So I guess damn half of me? But I agree, because of Columbus this bastard government practiced a nasty trend of killing a lot of our "cousins" off and we should do whatever we can to help fix the mistakes committed by the government, which has a problem with other countries committing slavery, but has no problem committing genocide.

My family on my father's side is dominatly Taino. No, we aren't full blood, we estimate that those still in the island are around 60%. Now most of his are brown skinned with almond eyes and thick hair. Other than a chance Japanese mixture on my specific branch in the family, which a few individuals of my family, such as myself, end up taking after, typical spaniard influence, and then a african influence on a different branch of my family, we are all mostly taino.

Back in the 80's I used to visit my family in the mountains in Orocoviz and they were still using the language mixed with spanish. Some where 100% taino and some mixed with spainiards. You could find a few that where older than 110 years of age and still would work the coffe fields and walk miles to get some rum, so healthy and never have been to a doctor.

Tainos werent brought by anyone to the islands. Taino indians are actually arawak indians from south american. How you do know this? Cause the same language used by the tainos were also used by arawak indians from nearby islands down to south america. Venezulean arawak indians spoke the same language as well. When the spanish came to PR and DR they found taino people waiting for them at the shores. A scientific study was done in PR and it was found that 60% of the PR population had taino blood.

We dont need blood quantum or gvrnmnt to tell us who we are. And If the scientists and all those who think that the tainos were exterminated, have no clue where we came from or who occupied the island of Puerto Rico first, then why speculate. I am Puerto Rican of Indians and Spanish ancestry. If i were to have Mayan or Irish in me, that does not change my views of who i am. It just adds more interest and color to the pattern. It will not make me less human or any smarter or richer.

I am supposedly mixed with Taino. My mom said that this old man came up to her one day while she was holding me and said that he stared at me for awhile. Then he told my mom that i am mixed with Taino. I have no idea if it is true or not maybe. I don't know my parents so i dont know my heritage
