I grew up and still live in Minnesota. I was 11 years old when she sank, but I still remember it. Thanks to Gordon for this great tribute, remember, he is from Cananda. However, they are our Northern brothers and sisters if my opinion means anything.
Modern example of ancient song/storytelling tradition. Beautiful composition, elegant tribute to this tragic event. I still remember the coverage (grew up in Duluth MN, across from the loading docks in Superior that the EF left prior to the storm). The bell ringing twenty nine times... how poignant.
This is one of the most haunting tunes about a shipwreck I've ever heard. Because of this tune, The Edmund Fitzgerald is just as famous as The Titanic. Gordy hit a nerve with this one.
This song always creates a chill that runs up and down my back, as Gordon's song writing ability is so very real. What a guy and what a great post - Thank You !

The old captain of the sea himself, Mr. Lightfoot. A masterpiece of musical story telling.

This guy spent 21 years in jail for something he didn't do. He then became a millionaire because the government wasted his life.

Great to see Gordon Lightfoot Live in 1979, with the clips of the ship! Yes, it is haunting and amazing.
