i can understand laughing when you hit the coyote. but there are a number of things you did wrong here. 1. you were way too close to that coyote for it not to attack you. it was in a foot trap and you killed it for amusement. 2. someone said awesome? the only reason you kill an animal is to save yourself or eat it. not for amusement. saying awesome is a sign of major disrespect. shame on you.

And I have cats and my neighbor who is only 4 and his baby brother who go outside every night... I am most definitely getting a hunting group together to take out the coyotes in that damn field. Unless you have live stock to protect, I don't get it. @sc3n3cor3 a lot of people hunt them for their pelts like you said, but another main reason is that they are very overpopulated. They overrun everything and kill the deer people hunt so a lot of deer hunters hunt them to help them have enough deer to hunt. It's the same thing that happens when any species gets overpopulated, they get diseases and their food supply runs out so they die a more long painful death.
When I was 5 We had some dachshund puppies, new borns about two weeks old. In the night coyotes came and drug off the adults and ripped the throats out of the 2 week old pups. You folks might feel bad for the little bastards, but they obviously didnt feel bad about killing about 12 small dogs/pups in one night. That traumatized me as a kid to see a little puppy clinging to life, with its throat gone. Coyote population has to be controlled or crap like that happens. P.S. Good damn shot!

@Pascosux1 I am an avid bow hunter, and I think what was so awesome about that is not that he killed the yote, but the fact that it collapsed in its tracks, and the fact they had a oyote that close on the ground and got a shot off. As a bow hunter I know it is extremly rare to watch any game just fall in its tracks, unless you make a inhumane spine shot and as you can see that was all vitals. If it was me I would have said awesome as well, not because I killed him but because of the shot.

I just want to say that as an ecology major, PETA pisses me the hell off. Ecosystems are not a static environment and keeping it unchanged is only problematic. You preserve pickles, not wildlife. The word is conservation because you are interacting with but maintaining a species, NOT leaving it be to wreck everything. People call things natural when they like it but when Coyotes are the only species in the woods thanks to overpopulation ppl will want them hunted and call them invasive.
It is really not that easy to kill them. If you lived in an agricultural area, you would know this and know the devastation they cause to peoples livelihood.

@CQBairsoft2191 well 42#is the minimum for hunting deer in NJ.... I have a 42# recurve and it can easily kill a deer even though I'd probably use my 60# PSE compound instead... When looking at the poundage of the bow I think it has more to do with shot speed than killing power. I have not hunted oyotes yet but I know deer jump 60# and 70# bows if they are wary... so to answer your question, I'm sure a 42 would do the job but in terms of putting the shot where you want it I'd go arund 60#

Coyotes are not only consider vermin, they are dangerous. Maybe not to humans unless it's a small child or baby, but I can vouch for how dangerous they can be. We have 3 dogs and live out in the country only 2 miles from a main highway in Indiana. These things come around here every year trying to kill our dogs and cats and we also lost cats within the years from being killed by coyotes. These things aren't cute, they are pests that are taking over our neighborhoods.

@falcondriver100 while i do agree on the leg iron was bad, but short range is not bad at all if the animal aint trapped. the legal range for shooting animals with a bow in my country is around 25 meters (28 yards?) maximum and people recommend shooting at 20 meters (22 yards?) or less.
close range shots are a art to master if the animal can move freely as it is hard to get that close to the animal.

On every hunting video I see a flame war against hunters and animal lovers. I'm currently doing a biology and conservation degree at Plymouth university. I watch it as I'm an archer. But firstly if you don't like hunting don't watch the videos! and your not gunna change the minds of people who love it. And before you spout off, hunting has set up thousands of conservation areas and game parks preventing poaching. Even though I don't agree with it at all I will note its positives to be fair.

Veggie farms around the world from USA, EUROPE,Australia Africa used to have millions and billions of animals but since the land became veggie land the animals on that land are extinct. Thanx peta and vegetarians for killing billions of animals! When peta comes to NAMIBIA to take pics of wild animals they have to do this on conservationist properties and trophy farms. If they visit the veggie farms they will go back home with hardly any pics of animals.

@CQBairsoft2191 well 42#is the minimum for hunting deer in NJ.... I have a 42# recurve and it can easily kill a deer even though I'd probably use my 60# PSE compound instead... When looking at the poundage of the bow I think it has more to do with shot speed than killing power. I have not hunted oyotes yet but I know deer jump 60# and 70# bows if they are wary... so to answer your question, I'm sure a 42 would do the job but in terms of putting the shot where you want it I'd go arund 60#

Coyotes are not only consider vermin, they are dangerous. Maybe not to humans unless it's a small child or baby, but I can vouch for how dangerous they can be. We have 3 dogs and live out in the country only 2 miles from a main highway in Indiana. These things come around here every year trying to kill our dogs and cats and we also lost cats within the years from being killed by coyotes. These things aren't cute, they are pests that are taking over our neighborhoods.

@falcondriver100 while i do agree on the leg iron was bad, but short range is not bad at all if the animal aint trapped. the legal range for shooting animals with a bow in my country is around 25 meters (28 yards?) maximum and people recommend shooting at 20 meters (22 yards?) or less.
close range shots are a art to master if the animal can move freely as it is hard to get that close to the animal.

@akacreative ok so i take it you know a lot about hunting? and other conservation matters like for some reason the DNR often releases animals like coyotes into an area to help control pest levels an idiotic idea as the coyotes mate and then they are the hassle and eat fawns. but its for food so its ok that they eat a live fawn... true a head shot is a horrible idea lethal target is like 1/10 size of lungs but still. all hunters shoot different pray and predator hunting is necessary in many areas
