2:20 How about the gov't not bailing out nobody. No bailouts for banks or buried homeowners. There needs to be price discovery in the housing market. Falling home prices are FIXING the problem, which is home prices are too high...especially in Florida.
Hopefully that guy gets the opportunity to get some type of training. If he waits too long and gets into his 40's without many skills, he will be at a severe disadvantage.
U never never never lease a truck from a trucking company. I call bs on this story. if you have a CDL in the USA you can get a job. This man is making a choice to not be a truckdriver. I have been in truck driving for 11 years. The only time I've not had a job is when I haven't wanted one. This man has gotten him into this situation. It makes me sick to watch this bs.
Being depressed is just an illusion, i've also been there. What pulled me out of the misery was just 'opening my eyes'. I learned the things that they don't show on TV. I now started changingproject(.)com which is a free video information archive. People should ask themself where the depression comes from, it's all about our mind and science already revealed that everything is connected to eachother and that we create reality by thinking, thoughts with powerful emotions become reality.Do research
What?! The federal gov. shouldn't be bailing out anyone! We all NEED money. Americans don't save for a rainy day, instead they have tons of DEBT! That is their fault. They bought houses that were over their budget & many planned on getting rich with the housing bubble. Illegal aliens bought houses which we are now paying for, The Federal Reserve banksters took 9 trillion $ & gave it to their banker friends & stupid Americans said nearly nothing!
what is really depressing, is like you said - the big banks with managers on billion dollar salaries get government help, but rest of society has to cope.
way. They don't give a flying damn about anybody but themselves & the special interest groups. They won't look out for the little guy/gal so why don't more folks get this. I'm just plain disgusted over the gross misconduct of the government & how major corporations just screw the little guy/gal all the time. Look what happened to all those truck drivers of Arrow Trucking Company just 3 days before Christmas, they had no jobs to go to anymore. It just sickens me!
A childhood friend of mine once worked for Arrow. I thank God he got out on his OWN terms. I have no interest in accepting what "my' government allows me to have for my children...I choose to work for what they have. This isn't "my" government... I voted for people who promised to fight for the PEOPLE...Where did those "officials" disappear to? That's right...they weren't elected. Those with the fat pocketbooks win every time.
When will the USA stand up, and fight for what is rightfully theirs? Are you just going to let some bureaucracy take it from you without so much as a single word said? Where's your ba**s? Speak!! Fight!! This is YOUR land...THIS is OUR land...WAKE UP!!!!!
of return. I'm going the self sustaining route ASAP! I could not see myself ever depending on any job nor social welfare programs again because I'll end up nowhere. I feel more folks needs to stop hoping for others to bail them out & just take action to resolve their own problems as best as possible. I realize it's easier said than done but this is the time for more folks to rise up to the occasion to bail themselves out & forget about the government bailouts. The government is incompetent any-
I've noticed for years that the majority of people were conditioned to be either job dependent or social welfare dependent which has actually ruined many lives. Most folks didn't see this disaster coming so now these folks are just left out in the cold. I'm just going to be a homebased entrepreneur & expand my horizan overseas. To hell with waiting on the government to get me out of my situation or somehow hoping that the job market get better. I've abandoned the job market long ago to no point-
I saw all of this coming in 1992. I moved to the country, got some land, got a run down house and have attempted to get out of debt. At least I've got chickens and a good garden.
People want to blame all of this on Obama but it all started when the Republican Party under Ronald Reagan convinced people you could cut taxes and continue to spend...just charge it to future generations. This idea (cutting taxes and borrowing to make up the difference) continues. Now it's time to pay the price.
John... I'm sorry but you should have to drop the bar so to speak....
Yes you used to deliever hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment to people last year, but today you should do what you have to to survie. No, not eat your neighbors... not yet anyways. But delievering pizza's to people is an idea....(yea some deserve a piece of metal slid into their cervical vertebrae), but most are good people just ignorant to the plight of others. Like the german jews were to each other in ww2
His statement about "no way of knowing" is exactly the point. Investors and companies do not know how the government is going to work against them next (and they are working against them). That uncertainty is holding up everything... and that is leading to the suffering that you are seeing. Let capitalism work and get the government out of everything.
Agreed. I am totally out as of this year. Fundamentals mean nothing any more in the stock market. Large funds manipulate prices and time their options after creating false impressions, value the market in real money (gold) and see the negative returns... etc. We are still falling into this depression, not coming out of it; no such thing as a jobless recovery. I really appreciate what you are doing with your videos (personalizing the crisis with anecdotal evidence).
Well there are alot of drivin jobs out here. You have to be willin to give up some hometime to make sure there is a roof over ur kids head and food in thier belly. It sucks to be gone but freight has to move. Oh and I bet he was with JB which has dedicated accts. everywhere. Oh well to each is own
I happen to know the guy that John is interviewing personally. He has no problem with giving up hometime...he has stayed out sometimes two months at a time (much of that time begging for loads) and he is willing to do it again just to go back to work. However, despite a perfect MVR and Crim. hist., he has had no luck finding companies that hire in his area. Yes, he was with JB, who would only put him on the road if he leased a truck. Dedicated was not offered as an option for him.
The TARP fund has given out over $23.8 Trillion in the last year...Thats some $72,000 for each of the 300million US citizens. That would have stimulated things and been completely inclusive. Unlike this guy who wants his house payed off! What about the people Renting or living on the street....What do they get?
I disagree with his comment about how the homeowners should have been bailed out. 48% of sub-prime foreclosures were because of people who refinanced to get money out of their house to purchase crap like plasma screens, iPods, etc... It is not my problem that the acted with ignorance. I believe the government should not bail anyone out. Let the market correct itself...
It is coming down hard on Florida, I have been told by two bankers, and one mortgage man we are being redlined the whole state by the big banks, here's a fun game count new cars! see if you can see one or two in a day! Or better count closed retail spaces you can count to 100 pretty fast!!!
the needs of the few bankers out weigh the needs of the many......Anyone who is doing business with banks at this point dont have room to complain....go to a credit union folks..pay cash...refuse auto deposits on religious principals...stop all unnecessary spending...when you spend you pay taxes .....dont purchase vanity tags for your car,..we have to starve the beast...or we will all starve as the beast will starve us
refusniks that's what we or people like us were inthe USSR just before it fell apart, it is happening here, more than people think the underground economy is growing, cash, ebay purchases, garage sales etc. !!!!
i stopped participating inthe "consumer" economy over a year ago...necessities only...and then only when i cannot purchase in yard sales, craigslist ect.... i do no business with banksters ...i own my home, i own my car and am enjoying seeing the banks fail...they are crimal cartels...they have even laundered drug money during this "crisis' ..i hope the banksters get what they deserve.
There is a simple response to this situation we find ourselves. We must recognize that everything that is occuring is needed to occur for us to be in the situation we are in. The only reasonable and logical thing to do is based upon the end goal you wish. Do we want a debt free nation, more productive jobs, A cleaner environment, world peace? Its all a choice. A choice to let go of the capitalistic mixed socialism for the rich economy we currently have and recreate a new economy.
For those like my self that are young we are screwed and are no better off than the rest. If those who are over qualified can't find work then those who are just entering the job market don't have a chance at all. :(
If there is ever a recovery I will be singing this tune. I owe I owe off to work I go.
The youth ie those just entering the workforce didnt even have a shot at prosperity. It was robbed from them. I have about 25 more working years left in me and I am being taxed out of business. I have made the necessary adjustments and I am mostly prepared. Still moving out of US dollars. This is a paradigm shift. Frugality is key. The old desires of consumer goods is long gone.
I totally understand about being taxed out of business. I live in the Carolinas and have several small businesses and everything seems to be hitting us at the same time. It's almost like their trying to put us out of business.
I believe the bankruptcy of Arrow Trucking a couple of days ago is an indicator of the impending big retail shakeout. The Christmas season has been so depressed for retail that one of the largest trucking companies in America, in business since 1948, could not survive past Christmas of 2009.
