U never never never lease a truck from a trucking company. I call bs on this story. if you have a CDL in the USA you can get a job. This man is making a choice to not be a truckdriver. I have been in truck driving for 11 years. The only time I've not had a job is when I haven't wanted one. This man has gotten him into this situation. It makes me sick to watch this bs.

They bought houses that were over their budget & many planned on getting rich with the housing bubble. Look what happened to all those truck drivers of Arrow Trucking Company just 3 days before Christmas, they had no jobs to go to anymore. It just sickens me!

A childhood friend of mine once worked for Arrow. I thank God he got out on his OWN terms. I have no interest in accepting what "my' government allows me to have for my children...I choose to work for what they have. This isn't "my" government... I voted for people who promised to fight for the PEOPLE...Where did those "officials" disappear to? That's right...they weren't elected. Those with the fat pocketbooks win every time.

I've noticed for years that the majority of people were conditioned to be either job dependent or social welfare dependent which has actually ruined many lives. Most folks didn't see this disaster coming so now these folks are just left out in the cold. I'm just going to be a homebased entrepreneur & expand my horizan overseas. I saw all of this coming in 1992. I moved to the country, got some land, got a run down house and have attempted to get out of debt. At least I've got chickens and a good garden.

People want to blame all of this on Obama but it all started when the Republican Party under Ronald Reagan convinced people you could cut taxes and continue to spend...just charge it to future generations. This idea (cutting taxes and borrowing to make up the difference) continues. Now it's time to pay the price.

His statement about "no way of knowing" is exactly the point. Investors and companies do not know how the government is going to work against them next (and they are working against them). That uncertainty is holding up everything... and that is leading to the suffering that you are seeing. Let capitalism work and get the government out of everything.

Agreed. I am totally out as of this year. Fundamentals mean nothing any more in the stock market. Large funds manipulate prices and time their options after creating false impressions, value the market in real money (gold) and see the negative returns... etc. We are still falling into this depression, not coming out of it; no such thing as a jobless recovery. I really appreciate what you are doing with your videos (personalizing the crisis with anecdotal evidence).

Well there are alot of drivin jobs out here. You have to be willin to give up some hometime to make sure there is a roof over ur kids head and food in thier belly. It sucks to be gone but freight has to move. Oh and I bet he was with JB which has dedicated accts. everywhere. Oh well to each is own

I happen to know the guy that John is interviewing personally. He has no problem with giving up hometime...he has stayed out sometimes two months at a time (much of that time begging for loads) and he is willing to do it again just to go back to work. However, despite a perfect MVR and Crim. hist., he has had no luck finding companies that hire in his area. Yes, he was with JB, who would only put him on the road if he leased a truck. Dedicated was not offered as an option for him.

The TARP fund has given out over $23.8 Trillion in the last year...Thats some $72,000 for each of the 300million US citizens. That would have stimulated things and been completely inclusive. Unlike this guy who wants his house payed off! What about the people Renting or living on the street....What do they get?

I disagree with his comment about how the homeowners should have been bailed out. 48% of sub-prime foreclosures were because of people who refinanced to get money out of their house to purchase crap like plasma screens, iPods, etc... It is not my problem that the acted with ignorance. I believe the government should not bail anyone out. Let the market correct itself...

For those like my self that are young we are screwed and are no better off than the rest. If those who are over qualified can't find work then those who are just entering the job market don't have a chance at all. :(

The youth ie those just entering the workforce didnt even have a shot at prosperity. It was robbed from them. I have about 25 more working years left in me and I am being taxed out of business. I have made the necessary adjustments and I am mostly prepared. Still moving out of US dollars. This is a paradigm shift. Frugality is key. The old desires of consumer goods is long gone.

I believe the bankruptcy of Arrow Trucking a couple of days ago is an indicator of the impending big retail shakeout. The Christmas season has been so depressed for retail that one of the largest trucking companies in America, in business since 1948, could not survive past Christmas of 2009.
