Hi Davie, I'm a subsciber to your channel and look forward to every video you release. I have just started classic tying and have read several books and web sites on the subject. Would you ever consider posting a w video on one of these amazing flies? Cheers, Brian (flyfishaholic)
I am wanting to start tying classic salmon flies. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, what do you use for the wings and where do you buy your materials like feathers, flosses, threads ect.
I haven't tyed these flies in a long while so I haven't been looking for materials so I'll send you a link to a website that has many quality tyers that are still tying some wonderful flies and I'm sure they will be able to put you onto the right people...
I have just started tying my own flies and I absolute love these. But as I am just a beginner I have no idea how to do stuff like this. Are there special feathers used for these? Or are the dyed and colored to look the way they are? I know it seems stupid to ask but this is really inspiring!
The best advice I could give you is to look at a website called Classic Fly Tying Forum which has lots of info and advice about where to find the materials you will need to tye these flies...
Davie, I am interested in how the "gut" or whatever you use on your blind eyes is attached to the hook. Do you have any vids showing how YOU do it, even if it is part of another video?
I don't have a video, but all I do is form the gut round the stem of my whip finisher as the stem is the right thickness and simply tye it to the underside of the hook,. If you have plenty of gut then I would have it the full length of the body as this is how they were originally done as this helps you build the body up to the right shape. There's an American website called classic fly tying forum you will find lots of step by steps on how to do this..
Hello, Davie I love your flies, and I love the way you presenting them. You should be very proud: you tying peace of art, and your son write nice music.
I’m very happy I found your channel on YouTube. Hope you’ll keep teaching us. Thank you and tight lines.

Hi Davie, what can i say i'm speechless after watching this video i feel inferior, my attempts at tying will never look as good as these even if i were tying for forty years your skill is like a samurai swordsmith. Alan
Hello Davie, I am looking to get started in classic salmon fly dressing and was wondering is there any good hooks you would recommend to start tying on?? and also where is a good source of materials?? Fantastic flies by the way!!
Sprite do a good blind eye hook, Glasgow Angling Centre had them last time I looked but best to give them a call first as I don't see them in their new catalogue..If you search google for Feathersmc and Jens Pilgard you'll find good websites for the materials needed to tye these flies.
I look forward to it! Thanks, Brian
