About Lwów, Grodno, Stanisławów, Wilno and many other polish cities in the east...well...of course Poles have sentimental feelings for that lands but I am not sure we want to regain now poor, shitty eastern lands. To upgrade them to polish/EU standarts would be huge effort and huge amount of cash...not worth of it.
Now we got quite good borders, homogenous society, good neibours on the west and south and wide bufor zone (Ukraine, Belarus) from Russia.

Yeah I know with this szukat (szukać) ....I remember when I was a kid and i spend my winter holidays in Jesenik (awesome skiing place) and I was searching my friend In hotel and talking loud to other friend that we must szukać him, lets szukać him etc. and locals looked at us with strange face ;)
I don't konw hows Czechs in Poland, but when I am in Czech and read something I understand almost all, even if I don't know one single word in a sentence I understrand what's about from contecst.
@andranEU Hehehe :-) Yeah our languages are quite similar at least to this level, that you can somehow "feel" what does it mean, like some intuition. Especially when there is some context. If I concentrate myself, I understand to written sentences in polish too. Got a problem with a spoken word, but it's just I'm not used to it. There is not so much Poles in Czech Rep. and vice versa. I will probably spend some time at least with some smaller learn-yourself book of polish language
@andranEU because it should be enough for complete understanding. At the end, you are a big nation with huge diaspora so it could prove useful to understand Polish. :-)) Hope some day we will get more united, seems we are doing better these days than any "western" country :-) We raise and they are on decline. Also we keep homogenous society which is kind of healthy I think.

LIDI, máme krásnou historii, za kterou se nemáme co stydět. Ve středověku jsme byly obávánými bojovníky, statečným a čestným národem. Vše bylo skvělé do roku 1939, kdy vznikla Mnichovská dohoda, když nás ostatní nechali na holičkách a vydali nás němcům. Doba byla těžká, navíc pak přišel komunismus, kterému musel každý podlézat aby nedopadl špatně a tak jsme přestali držet při sobě a každý si chtěl nahrabat jen sám pro sebe. A dnes? Jediná chvíle, kdy se sejdeme a chováme se jako bratři je sport.

The gypsies problem... well it IS their fault in essence. Yes, the Czechs have considerable hatred for them, but you cannot say that it is without reason. Gypises themselves formed all those stinky ghettos, refuse to work and conduct most criminal activity. It is much like the black community in USA, but largely without any intelligentsia. Go to see the ghettos and talk with the people living in them. They just sit around and do shit from the state's budget money. Not all are bad though.

@sssummmak after germany invaded us Poland was attacked by soviet union from east.We were invaded from east and west at almost the same time.My granfather was taken to concentration camp to Norway but killed few guards and escaped and went back to Poland through Sweden and Baltic sea:)I don't know how he menaged to do this but he did:)

The more I learn about the Czech Republic , the more i wanna go visit this magnifisent country and people. I grew up with a Czech as my nabour and what a high prinsipal and moral person. I had the pleasure to have him as my nabour and close friend for my whole childhood and youth. Unfortanly he passed away far to early in life. But his memory will always have a place in mine and many others heart. Wladimir gave many people around him lots of joyful times. He was a man Czehc`s can be prowed off.

No but czechoslovakia helped our country for the war of independence (1948) more crucially than anyone else, when no other countries would. They provide 50 million rounds of ammunition and almost our entire air-force. In historical terms, they help our country far more than united states or france.

Similar words sometimes, too - vróg and so. :-) But that's all for the first hearing, when you get used to it of course it doesn't sound russian anymore. I'm exaggerating a little bit. :-) However, there are some funny differences between Czech and Polish, for example Szukat in czech means "to fuck" (so "search for life" kind of makes sense in both ways :-))) ).

@andranEU Hehehe :-) Yeah our languages are quite similar at least to this level, that you can somehow "feel" what does it mean, like some intuition. Especially when there is some context. If I concentrate myself, I understand to written sentences in polish too. Got a problem with a spoken word, but it's just I'm not used to it. There is not so much Poles in Czech Rep. and vice versa. I will probably spend some time at least with some smaller learn-yourself book of polish language

At the end, you are a big nation with huge diaspora so it could prove useful to understand Polish. :-)) Hope some day we will get more united, seems we are doing better these days than any "western" country :-) We raise and they are on decline. Also we keep homogenous society which is kind of healthy I think.

LIDI, máme krásnou historii, za kterou se nemáme co stydět. Ve středověku jsme byly obávánými bojovníky, statečným a čestným národem. Vše bylo skvělé do roku 1939, kdy vznikla Mnichovská dohoda, když nás ostatní nechali na holičkách a vydali nás němcům. Doba byla těžká, navíc pak přišel komunismus, kterému musel každý podlézat aby nedopadl špatně a tak jsme přestali držet při sobě a každý si chtěl nahrabat jen sám pro sebe. A dnes? Jediná chvíle, kdy se sejdeme a chováme se jako bratři je sport.

The gypsies problem... well it IS their fault in essence. Yes, the Czechs have considerable hatred for them, but you cannot say that it is without reason. Gypises themselves formed all those stinky ghettos, refuse to work and conduct most criminal activity. It is much like the black community in USA, but largely without any intelligentsia. @sssummmak after germany invaded us Poland was attacked by soviet union from east.We were invaded from east and west at almost the same time.My granfather was taken to concentration camp to Norway but killed few guards and escaped and went back to Poland through Sweden and Baltic sea:)I don't know how he menaged to do this but he did:)

The more I learn about the Czech Republic , the more i wanna go visit this magnifisent country and people. I grew up with a Czech as my nabour and what a high prinsipal and moral person. I had the pleasure to have him as my nabour and close friend for my whole childhood and youth. Unfortanly he passed away far to early in life. But his memory will always have a place in mine and many others heart. Wladimir gave many people around him lots of joyful times. He was a man Czehc`s can be prowed off.

No but czechoslovakia helped our country for the war of independence (1948) more crucially than anyone else, when no other countries would. They provide 50 million rounds of ammunition and almost our entire air-force. In historical terms, they help our country far more than united states or france.
