@foreversorrow81 Personally, I loved it. Squad controls were a bit funky to get used to but once you get it down it's a pretty amazing game. Very realistic but too realistic for some. (if you don't like getting killed in 1-2 bullets or being unable to regenerate health, this game is NOT for you)

@foreversorrow81 yeah it's pretty amazing. especially since you can create your own maps and scenarios. Everything from queued explosions, chopper extractions, to just the ordinary exchange of fire. (customization available on pc for sure, don't know about consoles). I don't know if there are many people on now, since it's a bit old but I loved the online play.

Codemasters failed at making what could have been an EPIC game. They don't give a shit about the community, they hit it and quit it. Multiplayer is now, and always has been dead in OFP2...

@McWiggles411: I agreed that the game has not been done justice by Codemasters. But its still a enjoyable game and i still play online, Coop & Annihilation, so it isnt completely dead. Although it never really has been crowded and you do need to have some patience to get a game room full. But there are still enough people playing it seeing its the only OFP/Arma like game out on the X360.

i got this game on PS3 and HATED it. the controls where sh#t and there was no real tutorial on how to use them plus you could not change them. i died 3 times before i finaly figered out that to heal your self you had to go through a hole bloody check list of options. FAIL GAME does not even begin to cover how i feel!!!!!

@EvrenB123 Well, imo the SP is okay, but the MP is screwed, no ded. servers or company-based P2P Servers. No automap downloading. No Join in Progress. Little overall player limit (also add in weak P2P hosts...).

As for mods by other people, these chances are zero since Codemasters encrypted the game files with the latest patch. Looks like zero mod support for me.

And CM yet has to tell the people otherwise, there were no promises on any SDK or help on modding.

As with all games I play, I rent them before wasting my money on something I would later regret and this game is definately a regret for me. I wish I could go back to the store and exchange it for something else. The campaign and multiplayer both suck. Also the loading content takes forever. You could not give me this game and make me happy to play it.

You can connect to another players machine yes.

You can not connect to a dedicated geo-located server as codemasters is not releasing one.

Without dedicated servers there is no game, no community, no big servers, no fixed models, no multiplayer.

You'd have to have played OFP1 and seen how great it was to understand.

OPF1: Multiplayer as in a healthy community of players building maps, scripts and models. Improving to the point VBS was possible. Based around strong clans and individuals who play on highly tweeked dedicated servers.

OPF2: Multiplayer as in P2P self hosted games between random people, on connections designed for downloading not uploading. With no ability to modify or improve any element of the game.

No dedicated servers, no community, no models, no scripts, no maps, no players.

Dead.

The game graphics are crap, decent gameplay, but the model quality looks cheap and the textures very low-res compared to arma 2, where everything has about 10x as much detail.

Yeah the textures and models are below par, but the lighting nearly makes up for it but not quite. that said at least it's not a complete hog like Arma 2. Arma looks better but only when it's maxed out -- and it takes a $1500 computer to run the thing maxed out. A typical gaming computer with say, a GTX 260 or so, can only play Arma 2 on fairly tame resolutions on 'normal' settings, which doesnt look that great. That said Arma 2 will look amazing once hardware that can run it is affordable.

All Cinematic trailers look way better than the bloody game! Don't look at the trailers when buying the game, and then compare them! Go look at the actual gameplay. From the gameplay, the game looks superbe, and I am glad that i will be getting it soon. If you dislike the game, why not try take it back? and, Mainly, Don't comment if you don't like the game.

This is a Training Sim not a game. Ive seen 1000lb bombs people slumping over after getting shot this is as close as you can get to real combat. One shot one kill flesh wounds can kill you if not attended too. I'll be interested to check this out. For what I see we may have many Cherries that will not know what to do and the real solders or real good gamers will have to root out the untrained sofa warriors.

i just got the demo and I have a very powerful computer. I put the graphics to full and they look AMAZING (and not too much lag on any settings that look good). There's no doubt that Arma 2 is a great game visually.

Devs want to appeal to both casual shooter fans and hardcore 'realism' fans. Its impossible to do. You either have to faithfully simulate everything or just make another COD4 ripoff. Regardless, you arent going to find a 'realistic' shooter with modern hardware/software.
