@chocolatedead that's what the fans said, dave never said the album was a mistake, if you look better you will see that he still playing risk songs live, metallica doesn't play load or reload, maybe memory remains or fuel but that's the singles from the album.

metallica doesn't release shit, the way you talk makes you sound like thrash metal is better than other styles, what is not, in fact thrash metal has only speed when other styles are way more difficult to play.

@ArtQuakedoom95x4 maybe it's heavier, but the songwriting isn't good, solos are WEAK,too much wah wah and badly constructed,i don't know what kirk was doing....the songs are waaaaay too long but they are just okay,However st anger had some killer melody(invisible kid for example was great) this album could have been awesome with high distorsion/real solos and a better production;)

@chocolatedead solos aren't weak, they were done just to fit the music.

the songwriting is great, The God that Failed, Holier than Thou, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, My Friend of Misery and other great lyrics.

i think metallica should Re-release St Anger but with solos and a powerful distortion, i like the st anger snare, sounds angry like most of the songs, but doesn't fit The Unnamed Feeling.

@chocolatedead oh, now i understand why you said the songs are long on the album, solos are weak, but at few moments the solos really fit the song feeling, but not everything, and then the solo sounds simple again, i think kirk was lost on the whole album.

DM has cool riffs, but i like more St Anger riffs and lyrics.

the lyrics on death magnetic are not so great, maybe the best track is All Nightmare Long but it's not so awesome near the other material that metallica did before.

@Megadething just to finish my other 2 comments, my favorite album is st anger 'cause it has great riffs, great lyrics, but the production was horrible, maybe metallica should re-release the album one day with a great distortion sound + solos, i like the drum sound, fits with the angry feeling on the album. ^-^

but i like Load too, somehow the lyrics fits with my personal view of myself, both load and reload are underrated, the "problem" with the albuns are the lack of thrash metal.

Actually, Mustaine wrote the chord progression and the second clean riff in Ktulu and MetallicA wrote on top of and around that to make what is known as the full song, 'Call of Ktulu' whilst as Mustaine noticed that Metallica had taken his riff, he got angry (like before) and decided to take what he had written and make it 100% MegadetH.
