It can only trace two lines: mother's mother's mother (mitochondrial), or father's father's father (Y-chromosome). Too often we end up in Europe due to widespread rape, or ignoring thousands of Great grandparents. It's just pattern proximity.

I guess the paternal side of your dna has a way of preserving a different race from what you are. my grandfather is african but i bet you if he takes a dna test on his dad's side you will find white because no race is pure.

not at all, you feel great and you know where you are originally from. all i'm saying is that it is adviceable to check your maternal dna(mum's) because it usually show the black dna. however if ur mom is mixed race or something close then you paternal would be better. if your parents are both full black(not skin wise) then you maternal is more likely to show the african ancestry but if you probably feel closer to your dad then i wont stop you from testing your paternal dna
