My Grandfather, Jack Ager was with the N896U since the plane was laid in its jigs in England. He was the world's authority on the type.He worked closely with Harry Barr, vice president of Duncan Aviation at the time in Nebraska. I believe there are a few on display, one in Michigan and another in AZ that has my Grandfathers name on the side of the aircraft. It also has Leamington Spa on it. AIR Classics(magazine) featured my Grandfather and Harry Barr in the Nov 1991 issue
There is an Argosy In Blenheim NZ in its "Safe Air" colours, you can also have a look inside as well, in the freight hold it has a pod used for carrying passengers in horrible old 1970's Air New Zealand Colours. Incidentally this was the same aircraft in which the famous UFO's off the New Zealand coast (Kaikoura UFO's) was filmed in the late 1970's by an Australian film crew
Argosy's used to occasionally fly over my childhood home (New Bedford, Pennsylvania) back in the late 1960's at altitude. It was always a treat to see one of these unusual four engined twin boomed aircraft (through my father's binoculars).
There used to be an Argosy on the airfield at RAF Halton, I have an Air Cadet Easter Camp photo in 1986 of my squadron lined up in front of it. Last time I visited, sadly it had gone, presumably been broken up for scrap.....
I found a partially-stripped Argosy at an air museum in Sioux City, Iowa. Delightfully goofy-looking complete with the tit on front. I had no idea what it was an so have been researching them since I got home. cool plane. Thanks for posting this vid.
Nice vid... There is an Argosy in Blenheim NZ we love to visit every time we pass through. It's really well restored inside and out for everybody to enjoy... check it out on 'Safe Air Argosy'...

Ipec used to fly the Argosy in Australia, mostly after dark. They actually marketed themselves as "Ipec - the Midnight Flyers".
